the phrase,"headlight queen," came from one of the writers of this song seeing some groupie giving head to a dude who was in a band- in the back of some venue in the alley- and a car's headlights end up shining on the two during the act. Hence, "..and you're my headlight queen."
This is great stuff. Thanks for posting. There is not much video out from the Kiss DESTROYER tour. I really hope that on the next KISSOLOGY the band will include a full pro-shot multi-cam DESTROYER concert.
I was there! Was only my third concert (I was 14) and the second time I saw KISS. Just checked my ticket stub (Sec 122, N 1) and it was only $8.00. Ahhh...those were the days!
From the Destroyer LP. This hit will always hold a special place in my heart. In June 1979, I saw KISS for the first time. It was the Dynasty Tour at the Carolina Coliseum in Columbia, SC. They opened the show with this, so this is the first song that I ever heard in person live. This LP, IMO, established KISS as a force to be reckoned with and they still are.
As I said, they opened with this, then played Calling Dr. Love, and then Radioactive. They would later drop Radioactive and Tossin' and Turnin' and add Let Me Go, Rock and Roll.
I would have made that tour my first concert ever in 8th grade, except I was in Portland, OR, where they set up, got informed of the new fire codes prohibiting their pyro, and they tore down and cancelled...
Whole school hated Kiss, except me n a few others, I got shit ALL day long for that...
Don't feel bad. I went to the Hot in the Shade Tour in July 1990 in Columbia and the fire marshals pulled the same stunt. They did allow it for the Revenge and the Reunion Tour that I also attended. The last Cola show was April 2000. They haven't been back, but they will be in Greenville tomorrow night (Oct. 17) at the Bi-Lo Center with Buckcherry opening. It should be a good show. If it were Cola or Augusta, GA, I would go.
I saw Kiss in July 1979 at Madison Square Garden and yes, they opened the show with King of the Night Time world too. Destroyer is my favorite Kiss record, I bought it in '76 but my parents wouldn't let me go to the concert....I had to wait 2 more years before I was allowed!
What a great rock and roll song. All the hype and the marketing...they couldn't have done that if the songs weren't there to begin with. Kiss' music doesn't get the respect it deserves. Just my op.
@ackerlaw2004 I agree. The music always came first. then the makeup and stage show. I dont understand people that just like the band because of the make up and not like the music. doesnt make sense to me. The music has to be good or it wouldnt matter what kind of stage show they put on.

@nissansentraglx haha, actually back in 1976 the KISS members looks like all the glam bands on the late 80's and early 90's!!!!!!

A great song and there is nothing else quite like it.
leokimvideo 1 year ago
Yeah. They talk about big hair bands, it usually means 80's bands. Gene and Paul had big hair years before that.

1:29 both Gene and Paul jumping with those platform boots - amazing.
Papatorrejano 3 years ago
Yeah, they were pretty athletic, weren't they? Gene in particular was impressive, packing about 20 lbs. of costume the way he did.
Kirok 3 years ago
Yeah they were. Youngters in their way to conquer the world. It's a shame any of these '76 gigs didn't make it to Kissology.

Gene was jumping for joy cuz he was on his way to making millions!!!

Gene was going bald in 1976.
Maybe he was trying for a bald spot in the shape of the Liberty Bell for the Bicentinneal.
