but OMG i love this version :D i'm seeing black sabbath live next june and if their version of war pigs live is as good as this i will be very happy :3
War Pigs is an accurate name for the elite bankers that own us and send us to war to reduce the population of “commoners.” America is a classic fascist police-war state.
I was at this show and dont get me wrong but people who are Thuming up are missing the fuckin point this was a Faith No More Gig not a Sabbath Gig so fuck off and thumb up for somthing u were actually there for!! Pricks
One of the best covers ever. Takes me back 20 years. Still got their album FNM - live at the Brixton Academy and is still after all those years one of my favorites
Mike Patton is one of the best vocalists of our time, Live at The Brixton Academy should be compulsory listening for today's youth. One of the best live sets ever recorded.
11 years ago was the first time i heard their version of war pigs... mike borden's drumming and jim martin's solos, bill gould's monstrous bass and patton's vocals were forever seared in my brain
What the hell is wrong with Mike Patton?!? LOL I heard this cover back when it came out. I was only ten years old, and it opened me up to the world of Black Sabbath. I have been a fan of both Faith No More and Sabbath since.
fnm rock they have a great sound unlike bands of today, i would say on the album this is a cover from Ozzy's talk of the devil note for note bar the drum solo is perfect. It shows a great band who make great music of their own to cover another so well and the versatility is amazing ie the cover of easy, i rest my case :)
@xyfb your a stupid twat faith no more are one of the best bands I'n the world and mike patton is amazing at singing , your a great example of someone who likes shit music and has no taste I'n great bands like faith no more, DICK -:(

Ok, I grew up on Sabbath, Queen, Rush, etc. And i gotta hand it to bands doing cover versions of Classic Rock tunes! (I think FNM were one of the first to start doing this on studio albums)? Anyway, FNM do an incredible job of covering War Pigs. But for all the advances in live sound from the '70's, the 'rawness'(!?), is just missing. But I don't really give a fuck! I LOVE this version, 'cos FNM are paying RESPECT to Sabbath! But Sabbath version CANNOT be 'bettered'. Just enjoy the peformance
@SebTheOtaku I think it matters when you grew up. Sometimes I like FNM War Pigs version better than Sabbaths, I like a ton of Sabbath covers, Type O negatives Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, White Zombie's Children of the grave. SoundGarden does an awesome Into the Void. Supernaught by 1000 homo Dj's (Reznor and Jougensen) Sepultura's Symptom of the Universe, Six Feet Under's Sweet Leaf, Cannibal Corpse or Godflesh's Zero the Hero, Changes by Fudgetunnel. Imitation is most sincere form of flattery.
I believe Mike Patton did the blah blah blah blah part on purpose because he was sick of playing the song by then and he also knew it would piss off Jim Martin. Especially because it was a live taping! Mike often tried to piss off Jim because Jim Martin was an old 80's banger that didn't want to change! Thumbs up if you agree. Non FNM fans think it was a mistake, True FNM would know the difference!
Generals gathered in their masses Just like witches at black masses Evil minds that plot destruction Sorcerers of death's construction In the fields the bodies burning As the war machine keeps turning Death and hatred to mankind Poisoning their brainwashed minds Oh lord yeah! Politicians hide themselves away They only started the war Why should they go out to fight? They leave that role to the poor Time will tell on their power minds Making war just for fun...
@bloodthirst72 haha. ozzy, high, drunk and probably stoned too on Just Say Ozzy, never did anything as shameful as "blah blah-ing" his way through a whole verse of War Pigs
maybe YOU're the one who's drunk, high and stoned (as well as on acid and shooting heroin too, most definitely)
@ActinLikeaRobot Great drummer? Are you kidding? Did you listen to his fills? Worst fills I ever heard. Compare to the original and hear the difference.
i personally didn't like this cover, nothing beats Sabbath!!! not to say that i didn't enjoy it, cause that would be a lie but still... this is Sabbath were talking about. SABBATH!!!!!!
I remember this song so well. It was the 1st cd I bought, at the age of 12. Never was a Sabbath fan, so always thought this was a FNM song. So a couple of years later I ofcourse discovered it was a cover. And the FNM version is so , so much better. The guitar, drums and bass so much more vibriant, good synergy. When I listen to the Sabbath version it's pretty tame. One of those unique exepctions where the cover is better than the original. Btw I love Sabbath :)
Mike can sing pretty much anything in his own way and get away with it.. Perfect vocal technique, when he wants it, and stunning charisma for me the best singer we have had in the last 25 years
Even though FNM is an Alternative Metal, Funk Rock or whatever you want to call them, their influences are clear. I mean, C'mon, Napalm Death!!!??? some serious shit right there.
... Fuck they've been around for a long time, still going strong.
@yovioleatuzorramadre Stop talking shite and who gives a fuck about the jonas brothers what fucking relevance does that hold at all... none! OH and btw my comment 'Better than the original sorry Sabbath!' is the highest rated comment! i dont have to dream so why dont ya just shut it child!
@talleman1 Who FNM they were not about then but seen a video of them with Ozzy singing in 1990 in Hollywood also James Hetfield comes on playing guitar. :D
My statement wasn't even close to a debate. The truth. And who wrote it's a debate? Not me. Debate with yourself. Oh and btw, get your head out from Jim Martin's ass. It's way too deep in there.
@DenysSIC Still FNM just listened to Sabbith paris 1970 and this version again, it has so much more energy and now thinking about it Jim Martin's guitar sound is much nicer. also a better tempo.
I'm a huge Tool fan. I want to get into Faith No More, but I don't want to waste my money on buying any albums that may or may not be as good as this song right here. Are there any hardcore Faith no more fans than can tell me their 10 favorite Faith No More songs? If you have more than that, that's fine too, I'm just trying to put their best songs on a badass CD, and I don't really trust "Greatest Hits" CDs, I trust fans. Help me out?
@Minacious from out of nowhere, epic, easy, we care a lot, war pigs (i know its a cover) midlife crisis, suprise youre dead. best for sure. start with from out of nowhere.
@Minacious hey don't listen to people telling you "real thing" is the best fnm album; sure, it's what made them big successes in the beginning, but only because of the song epic which is overplayed anyway
check out Angel Dust and King for a Day; those are really two amazing fnm albums and i feel pretty safe saying that if you don't like those, you probably don't like faith no more

@Minacious Album of the Year, Angel Dust, King for a Day Fool For a Lifetime. The Greatest hits DO suck sometimes, it is very true :-)

@Minacious from out of nowhere, epic, easy, we care a lot, war pigs (i know its a cover) midlife crisis, suprise youre dead. best for sure. start with from out of nowhere.

@Minacious hey don't listen to people telling you "real thing" is the best fnm album; sure, it's what made them big successes in the beginning, but only because of the song epic which is overplayed anyway
check out Angel Dust and King for a Day; those are really two amazing fnm albums and i feel pretty safe saying that if you don't like those, you probably don't like faith no more
album of the year is good too
