Ahh, now I understand who Lawrence Brownlee is, but he is not that important, what is important is the song. If you don't like this version, find yourself a different one. If the cover is all that bothering you, too bad. You don't have to watch it.
@cpawel Glad you did your homework. And he IS that important. He's clearly done more than this gentleman, who cannot even produce a quality recording with a reputable orchestra.
The cover bothers me because it is deceptive. It is giving credit to a group of people who do not deserve it. The Berlin Philharmonic is one of the most respected symphonies in the entire world. They should not have their name slandered by this performance.
@bassrob2 the thing is, I like this version better, not the Brownlee one. This one has the emotion that's needed, his is just singing. It's like he doesn't understand the meaning of the words.
@cpawel That's great. I'd prefer a tenor who can actually sing the aria well, not just squak it because "it fits with the text." The reason I said this tenor is obviously not reputable is because the uploader could not even find a cover for the recording.
But what I have the REAL problem with is the orchestra. The intonation is absolutely atrocious, and they are RARELY together.
And THAT, my friend, cannot be hindered by text or "interpretation" of a piece.

2) Is this chorus singing in Germanized-Latin? (versus Italiamized-Latin? ... I ask because of their diction throughout the entire work)
3) Was @1:47 SUPPOSED to happen? =/

is this really The Berlin Philharmonic ? They are not playing together and the intonation is in general really bad. (1:46, 2:05 e.g.)
