  • You are so right!

  • So true!

  • Too bad all this examination does not take place until after a crime is committed.

  • dhl - I have and I do. It all depends on the case. I also have not. It is very fluid.

  • Hi,

I was wondering how often you go to court, or do you even go at all?

    Thanks

  • Both are great fields -- it depends on what you want -- to oversimply -- help people work through issues or solve puzzles? Both rewarding. Good luck!

  • im choosing between a counseling psychologist and a forensic psychologist bt idk what to pick.

  • I am currently exploring my options for grad school, and I really am interested in Forensic Psych. It's by far my favorite subject. I am a little concerned about salary though...any insight?

  • @PUGS1688 I can't help you there. You make a fair amount or as I do on mnay occasions - nothing as I do pro bono work.

  • cont. or one offender who used a gun. It also dosent report whether or not he was on a census run that day, but the area he worked in was known to be a reputed area full of meth dealers.

  • Wow, you're certainly quick in your response time ma'am (i appreicate it), you must be a busy bee. Have you read anything on the Bill Sparkman Case in kentucky? Involving the census bureau agent found tied to a tree nude with his ID badge taped to his neck? C.O.D was asphyxiation but theres no report of whether he was killed before hand and tied up there. (also its reported his feet were touching the ground) no indicators of head trauma reported either, so its possible there was two offenders

  • I think it should be about Detection, Prevention, and discovery of any possible evolutions within the criminal offender. Many make the mistake of being dogmatic about their assessments and follow one specific method or system of analysis and that is a detriment to most cases because of the unique factors involved in the Scenario. In theory you should always analyze each case individually while keeping the former statistics and patterns in mind. (from my perspective anyway)

  • I agree - each case needs to be individual judged on its own, not by some cookie cutter fornula. That is a mistake all too frequentky made!

  • yes ma'am...you're of a different class than the more modern vultures i realize...i myself am none of the above, theres far too many politics involved in the game and i prefer assessments from afar.

  • So true and sad - that's not what it should be about!

  • what about anonymity? (i.e. if an individual prefers anonymity with their assessments, and dosent care about money or the glory/glamour of the spotlight) is there anyone out there who accepts the assistance of individuals who prefer working behind the social curtain to avoid the usual voodoo-esque stigma which often comes along with the Forensic Psych label? most often society tends to gravitate towards choosing forensic/psych as a profession because they mistake it for the glamour of CSI shows.

  • I can't speak to those who choose the field today but when I chose it there was no CSI ot any such show. No glamour. I do a lot of pro bono work. I know some others who do the same. So everyone in the field is not about glitz and glamour where so are.

  • great video thankyou for explaing this for me

  • Either Psych or Criminology - I am partial to psych - it gives you broader varity of opportunities. Same thing. You might consider a Psy.D. A clinical doctorate of psychology.

As for jobs- all depends on where you are, what your thesis is, and how you can sell yourself. You might work a lot or little. If you get on with a major police dept or FBI or Homeland Security, great. if not it can be hit or miss.

    Good luck!

  • Hello,

I really liked your video! *****'s Currently I am getting my undergraduate in criminal justice and psychology. I was just wondering what you think may be a good Masters major I should do to get into forensic psychology? And also what I should major in to get my ph.D?

Lastly, how is the job market for forensic psychologists? Is it hard to find a job?

    Thank you so much.

  • As a clinical psych, in california. The market is flooded & it is really hard 2 find those high paying jobs, particularly w/ managed health care. In addition, here we have a # of master's level person's working, that also make it difficult, when u can hire a master level SW or MFT and pay them less.

  • At this time, the field is flooded, but the moer you learn and valuable you are the more you will work. Money is variable. A lot to fair money... all depends on who hires you and how much money they have...Thank you.

  • Hey, I'm 19, i just started college. i have a question. Hows the employment rate in forensic psychology and how much can you earn from it? i love your video btw.

  • Can you help me figure out why I am motivated to turn this channel off and not come back? Don't tell me just keep it under your hat!

  • I will get my PhD or Doctorate in Psychology with a minor in forensic psych., can i work with the FBI or just the city as a forensic profiler??

  • Yes, if you pass their tests and not to be flip, but get hired! Absolutely!

  • It depends on so many things - whether you freelance, work for the city, county, or state or even FBI. Each has a different salary. Plus you have to factor in regions of the country. As a freelancer as you build your resume, you can make $500 or more an hour. As an employee you depending on where you are, $70,000 to $180,00, maybe more.

  • You are welcome!

  • This may sound like a superficial question, but as someone who will receive their BS in psychology next year and is preparing for application to graduate schools in forensic psychology i must ask this question. What would a typical annual income be for a forensic psychologist in private practice? I realize this depends on the area the psychologist would be practicing in, so, perhaps you could give me numbers based on the area your familiar with. Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Thank you so much for breaking down the different roles and avenues a forensic Psych is involved in. I'm subscribing

  • thank you

  • Study psychology, and abnormal psychology as well. Psychopathology (abnormal and now leading to Forensics will get you to a good knowledge base! Good luck!

  • Hi, I am currently studying Criminal Justice, but my ultimate goal is to work in Forensic Psychology...

could you tell me a good route to take in pursuing this goal?

    Thanks!

  • Could you can answer the following questions for me? I am doing a project for my college english course.

    What is you job?

Discuss your job/ what is involved in doing it and so on...

How is reading involved in your job?

What do you read for fun?

How long have you been a forensic psych.?

If you could think about any other things that you think would also be important that would be great! Thank you for your time!

  • do u think the show criminal minds is a good representation of how profiling is done in real life?

i realize tht in real life thy also profile cases other than serial killers unlyk in the show.

  • To a degree.

Profiling is used for all kimds of things.

  • Can anyone give me information on /how/ to become a forensic profiler?

  • **forensic psychologist.

    Whichever! D:

  • There is a lot of schooling. You need a college degree in criminology or pscyhology or both. A Masters in either one (or both) and ideally a Doctorate in Psychology or a PhD in Psychology. Educations and experience make both a good profiler and a good Forensic Psych. Good luck!

  • Thank you so much!

I'm concidering attending Argosy University to get my MA in Forensic Psychology.

    I'm very excited about it!

I enjoy your videos and hope to see more in the future! :]

  • Im going to school to be a clinical Forensic Pyschologist......cant wait ..graduate in spring of 09'......

  • Congratulations! I wish you well and much success!

  • You are most welcome!

  • thank you
