  • its so rare to find really good jazz videos on youtube so you can efficiently spread this beauty & this art to others. i love this!

  • @theChemicalBassist i think you've posted the truest comment on the whole of youtube =)

  • This is Flamenco, more precisely Bulería.

  • Victor Wooten is better on the bass than anyone on any instrument, ever.

  • the lesson. sit back and learn from one of the best bassists to ever walk the face of the earth. if this piece doesnt give you goosebumps, i dont know what will. perfection.

  • Oh my god this is the best thing I've ever heard in my life

  • watch my lesson cover :) watch?v=roJ869EJZOQ

  • whoever disliked this was in such a daze that they accidentally pressed the wrong button

  • best guitar virtuoso in the world, and he's a bassist.

  • If I wrote this song I would have considered my life complete. but not Wooten, he kept on going.

  • this is amazing really relaxes me can anyone suggest any more songs / artists like this? this takes me to another place....

  • @alexowain Ewan Dobson - Dreaming in Dortmund

  • God

    all i have to say

  • 3 people tried to play it on bass xD

  • @Newandaix Hahaha so true man, I tried it just randomly and boy it was harder than I thought!

  • @Newandaix Fuck you... its hard

  • Can't stop listening to this!

  • INCREDIBLE.... I DONT KNOW WHY 3 PEOPLE WOULD DISLIKE THIS CRAZY!

  • @smirk369 I completely agree. What retards don't know what true music is?

  • 3 person dont know what tru music is

  • @renatoorbita3d Or they just have different taste in music. Comments like this are inane.

  • great song- love this guy

  • i did my best to cover this one, it's such a damn beautiful piece :) i would be honored if someone would comment on my cover and let me know what they think :)!! have a nice day all :D

  • i decided to try to learn this three days ago and have to finish it in two weeks before a gig... won't be easy, but if i can pull it off it will be awesome

  • @miniski5 go for it man ;) you can check my video if it helps you, good lucK!

  • @fraghunter67 i ended up preforming the song and it sounded good, with as little cut out as possible (because no one can play every single note of a victor wooten song) but my brother and i ended up being the only musicians who played, the preformance was one of those things that parents go to see their little children preform. the other kids were even described by parents as unbearable, so the preformance felt kinda lame but a few of my friends saw it so it was all good

  • @littleski5

Nice man!, glad you did, the right crowd would be thrilled! :) keep it up

  • BEAST!

  • A musician that can bring a smile to your face, a tear to your eye, and a song to your heart. We can only count ourselves blessed that we have the opportunity to hear and experience these things in our lifetime from a person that is so generous to share his talent with the world. Peace. We are so lucky.

  • saw him play this live yesterday at stanford.....it was like angels singing

  • I flippin Love Vic Wooten... and this is my fav song by him...:) beautiful

  • It's hands clapping (palmas ; a serious instrument in Spain) and Cajon (a wooden chest with a hole in it and strings). If you like this, than listen to Carles Benavent!

Thats bass flamenco at its best .

  • OMG my bass teacher hungout with him and drove him and his drummer to thier gig and he got to play on Wooten's bass =0

  • @09DYEpaintball !!!!!!!!!!! I can only imagine how awesome that must have been!

  • truly an amazing piece of work. I went and saw him with marcus miller and stanley clarke at the jazz fest in Ottawa and the crowd was absolutely nuts. quite an experience to see him live.

  • I just saw him last night and he did this song. It was crazy awesome.

  • if i could even touch his bass, id prolly cry. this man is a miracle to music.

  • catchy song i love it ♥!

  • it's sooooooooooooo amaaaaaaazing!!!!

    Makes me feel like ♫!

  • This song is a beautiful work or art... I can see why he called it the lesson.

  • @TheChemicalBassist IT all goes in connection with the book he wrote. LIsten to and interview he did with Bob Edwards, its on the web, i would post the link but can't.

  • @TheChemicalBassist He called it "The Lesson" because he wrote it as part of his book, The Music Lesson. I learned that when I attended his bass clinic with Steve Bailey. He's such a great guy in person, and when he talks, he just leaves you in awe. Then of course he plays bass and you're like :O.... My bass teacher actually got up to go onstage and play with him, because he actually get's lessons from Steve. So in a way, I got taught by Steve Bailey :D.... Anyways... yeah.

  • @TheChemicalBassist Because he is a humble man. :)

  • the melody of this is beautiful

  • hand clapping? nah i saw him do this shit live he hits the strings

  • he's obviously gonna change it up live, but that's definitley hands on the album

  • UUHHHHHHH?????? No SIIRRRR! those are NOT hands clapping on the album! thats ALL HIM! dont under-estimate him homie,,, he's the best! remember dat! lol

  • it's hands clapping. look at his website, he says he did that to make it more flamenco. on the site, he credits himself and his brother roy with the clapping.

  • noooo, dude. really he does the handclaps in the album. maybe not live, but if u look at the album credits it says bass and hand claps-victor wooten. just thought i'd spread some knowledge. admire u for seein him live though

  • oh shit didnt see that, at the concert though he hit the strings and looped it similar sound. He is amazing though, he came to toronto and gave a 4 hour workshop/concert, gave away copies of his book, had people come on stage and play his bass, gave them tips and shit. He even autographed everyones ticket, and for only 15$ seriously not only an amazing musician but has an amazing way of thinking, this man can truly be admired

  • so beautiful..

  • He's amazing. all I can say...

  • yes...its hand clapping.....done by Victor Wooten

  • What is that sound in the background up until 1:10 or so... sounds like light hand clapping... anyone? this song is so badass!!!!

  • Man you can't hear that? It's throughout the entire song.

  • this song is badass!

  • Both sheet music and tabs are wonderful tools. Be open minded, folks.

  • Even more important are your ears!

  • Victor came to my university and played this for my class! i was about 4 feet away him while he played it. so awesome!

  • finally i found this song on youtube. i dont have the money for the album right now but i love this song and couldnt find a full stream anywhere. thanks a million for posting

  • I LOVE THAT GUY

  • Wooten Rules! Thanks for posting!

  • a liltle fun fact this is one bass no over dubing

  • does this guy have cd's on his name? hes great.

  • oh ya dude, several

  • you know some names?

  • he is a bass genius. do u know how hard it is to write a song like this ? and memorize it?

  • Not hard at all for him on this one. He said it only took him a little bit of time to write this one cause he was feeling it. It depepnds on how much they're feeling it though.

  • Not "like Flamenco"....IT IS FLAMENCO !!! Victor is off the human scale. What a creative musical genius. If the bass playing wan't impressive enough, his complositional style, harmonic and sheer musical creativity impresses even more. What a joy to have this guy around....would love to see this piece perfomormed with a Flamenco ensemble as well....

  • 4:53 - 5:08 ... AMAZING

  • Love the Intentional Fret Buzz and the overall tone! A chill song by Victa!

  • god

  • Wooten is the living Legend.

  • sooo sick, the chords in this are ridiculous, its just beautiful. such mastery.

  • is that cajón playing in the background?

  • Really great piece of music from Wooten *****

  • i agree with you, although i am not saying that we arent not allowed to place a negative opinion or better said not like the piece we hear but as a good musician you´d have to let go of prejudices and allow yourself to atleast listen to the music without criticism....i´ll admit i find it hard at times, especially when it comes to certain modern music styles

  • I think my criticism comes once I start hearing the music. Love wooten though. I cannot stomach some modern stuff, however. Modern classical is some of the worst ever, and this is coming from a classical lover. There are always exceptions, though.

  • But I think this doesn't really sound like modern classic. It's more some latin flamenco tune.

  • This is the fucking best ever played by Victor Wooten!! I just can help loving it!

  • TABS!?

  • hahahahaaaaaa

  • Comment removed

  • U want Tabs for this?! XD

u cant learn this from tabs, sorry...

  • tabs?! wooten has a tihng against tabs.

get his book. he has the song in notes on every page

  • Yep, tabs suck. Sheet music is a must. I wish there was more free sheet music tho.

  • Who needs sheet music?

    LEARN IT BY EAR!!

  • Yeah, I agree, sheet music is too damn expensive!

  • tabs are super, when they are correct, but it is hard to obtain the correct feel, dynamics and timing from tabs.. but ear is BEST for "ME" im an ear player. sheet music SUCKS to me. just my 2 cents... thank u

  • tab sucks...i agree.....that's why you should learn to read music...it's always great for a musician to have a great ear and while i agree it is more important to have a good ear but it's also good to learn to read real music

  • Comment removed

  • He doesn't have a "Thing against tabs." I recently read words on his website from Vic himself that supported tabs. He was talking about how it's a good way to be able to find the positions you can't really find in sheet music. Like the location on the neck. I haven't used tabs in a long time but they are a big help for a beginner.

  • once u get the hang of it its not that hard!!

  • anyone know what key this is in?

  • its in Gm

  • thanks!

  • This man saved my life. You see i layed dying of disease dispair and pain.. And his music brought joy and happines to me and i healed myself.....

  • Anybody know how this one's tuned?

  • my guess is ADGC

  • E-A-D-G

    standard tuning

  • Oh, I just guessed because I know that he uses A standard sometimes.

  • i saw vic playing this track solo in the tour with stanley clarke and marcus miller. athens theatre pallas. he played it even better. that was really sick. live and alone!

  • it seems like vic plays everything better every single time he plays it... the man is a BEAST

  • this could quite possibly be one of the best pieces ive ever heard...is there any chance somebody has a tab?

  • This is the tune you get if you string together all the pieces of manuscript at the beginning of each chapter of Vic's book!!

  • elaborate on that, because i just bought his book and im really interested in learning his techniques. this guys amazing

  • At the beginning of each chapter of Vic's book "The Music Lesson", there's a picture of a bar of music that he was shown by his teacher. I wanted to know what that would sound like so I put them all together and it makes the song you just heard on that video!!

  • ha ha ha fancy that. Is his book good?

  • VERY good, it completely opened my eyes to the various ways you can approach the same thing, and it's really good for formulating your own personal philosophy

  • please do not insult victor.. he is a revolutionary player that amzazes muscians all around the world. if you say his music sucks you have no respect for music at all. victor is truely amazing

  • \m/

  • Well everyone's intitled to an opinion, I mean I think Victor is a genius. But some people don't think so and that doesn't mean they are wrong, it's just their opinion.

  • i saw Mr. Wooten live doing this song in the past weekend, and damn, it' totally amazing how he pulls it off! =D

  • who are you to judge others music? he pours emotion into all his songs. An opinion is fine but don't say shit like "if you are gonna have a banjo and mandolin in your band play some fucking bluegrass " you have no right. let people play what they want and deal with it. Clearly 2 grammies dosent equal a sucky band.

  • Dont get too upset man...a lot of people now a days just dont understand what music is, and what she can say, regardless of what tools are used.

  • Don't diss their style. It's original. And maybe you've just had a few too many bad trips...

  • agreed, people anymore simply look at music for what they portray it to be and if it is even remotely different they think its terrible, thats what differentiates a good musician from an ignorant one who's unwilling to learn anything new

  • That's exactly right man. Music is also seen as a sport now as well, where the fastest you can play and most strings you can break is representative of your skill.

You seem to have the right idea, please check out my videos of my band Ded Mark't if you have time

  • i agree with you, although i am not saying that we arent not allowed to place a negative opinion or better said not like the piece we hear (exp. hard-style-death-techno ^^) but as a good musician you´d have to let go of prejudices and allow yourself to atleast listen to the music without criticism....i´ll admit i find it hard at times, especially when it comes to certain modern music styles

  • do u play anything at all? do u have any idea the amount of time, dedication, and--to some degree--raw talent that's required to play something like them (wooten and/or flecktones)? and clearly ur brain isn't capable of processing complex compositions. the fact that u could even spell victor wooten to come in here and talk shit amazes me...

  • People are ignorant I suppose its a pity.

  • this and everything on the album is what we were waiting for!!

  • 1:33 to 1:41 amazing

  • awesome song

    great photo too

  • dude what are you talking about?

  • Victor Wooten sucks, just kidding he's the best in the world by far.

  • I shit my pants before I read the rest of you sentence...lol He is one of the best, but keep an open mind, hes not the only killin bass play out there!! He's more popular then most so many people think he's the best, but if you really check out some other guys you will see that there are allot of fish in the sea!!!

  • my new favorite vic song!

  • buy the album its great this is track 4 but the rest of it is just as god maybe better

  • definitely will...hopefully i can have him autograph it in Vegas next month at the SMV show.

And for all of you not going....go!!! It will be amazing!

  • im going to the one in new york it should be the best concert of all time
