  • amazing job!! i just started a 55 gall. jardini and can only dream of something like this.

  • What happens if the lizards or snakes get out and fall into the water? Wouldnt the arrows eat them? Do you feed your pacu nuts? is that a red tail catfish? The midas or red devil cichlid are NOT from SA but CA

  • @Zombomofo The lizards are living free above the pond, never a problem. The snakes used to get out all the time and I'd find them coiled around a log in the pond, never a problem. My Pacu, Paco and Finny, eat whatever they want.....Mostly Greens and mellon. No, its not a redtail cat. Achara cats and a Tiger Sholvelnose (RIP). I'm aware of where they are from, Midas that is, I am just using them in the pond as a rep. of the cichlid presence in the Amazon. Thanks for the qu

  • NICE TANK

  • wow thats crazy but what happens when they jump?

  • They are older Aros and do not jump out of fear, they only jump for food. Thats everyones question but so far they have been in there about a year and not a jump one.

  • Best!! A++

  • Thats a great setup. BTW was it the RD that bit your finger?

  • AMAZING! Beautiful! Breath taking! I have a small pre-formed pond would arowanas do well in it? I currently live in South Florida/Miami!

  • dude ur my hero!!!!!!!!!!!! beautiful set up and the fish look very happy :)

  • you just let the snakes and lizards chill there?

  • what a big arowana!

i just want to ask some important facts about the behavior of such fish, the maintenance of the aquarium and everything about taking good care of it.

i ave mmy silver arowana about 10 months old and it measures 36inhes x 6.

    many thanks.

  • Wow! That's a nice tank!

  • How do you heat/filter/change the water and all of the other maintenance on that tank? I ask because I want to do something like this myself, but am not really sure how to go about it.

Also, I think it's good that you "handle" your fish. With fish that size and a tank like that, should you ever need to move them in an emergency or something, they will be under far less stress than they would if you had never touched them before.

  • I agree with the safety thing on handling for sure, but I feel the mental stimulation is important. The fact that they come looking for the interaction speaks for itself. A wild animal is very involved in their environment, from hunting to the constant threat of predation. These fish have never really had to fear anything and their environment is changed as often as I can (rearranging decor) but they still don't have an out for curiosity or exploration. I give them that.

  • how much it cost

  • It cost six months of nights and weekends and about $2000. I am still spending on it and it's been up for months.

  • awesome... looking great as always!! I think it is awesome that you have those lizards running around in there too

  • They are jumpers, but at this age they've probably calmed down quite a bit. The pond is completely full and it has over-hangs as well. I doubt the aros will be getting out unless they are totally focused on doing so. :)

    Again, great fish and pond!!

  • well said my friend and I'm glad to see some one else really gets Aro behavior.

  • Thanks

I've always wondered, how long are these guys?

  • 2-3 feet, roughly. The largest male is actually a little bigger than that, but close enough.

  • wow thats huge! lol i figured about 3 foot or so due to how thick it was when you hand your hand next to their body up above the surface of the water...

  • dont they jump

    awe sometank btw
