i thoguht silvers were jumpy fish? dont they jump out of the pond/aquarium? man one day i wanna do this, but larger and add some arapaimas in there lol
Wow that is quite an opinion there, Dr......? I didn't catch your credentials. I assume, giving the warning you did, that you are a medical doctor and herp specialist. Otherwise you would seem silly saying such things.....
What happens if the lizards or snakes get out and fall into the water? Wouldnt the arrows eat them? Do you feed your pacu nuts? is that a red tail catfish? The midas or red devil cichlid are NOT from SA but CA
@Zombomofo The lizards are living free above the pond, never a problem. The snakes used to get out all the time and I'd find them coiled around a log in the pond, never a problem. My Pacu, Paco and Finny, eat whatever they want.....Mostly Greens and mellon. No, its not a redtail cat. Achara cats and a Tiger Sholvelnose (RIP). I'm aware of where they are from, Midas that is, I am just using them in the pond as a rep. of the cichlid presence in the Amazon. Thanks for the qu
where do you live, i dont want a date or anything, just wondered if in europe or upper north america as do you have to use electronical devices to keep warmth in the water?
wow dude nice freaking nice set up... man nice arows too very healthy lookin fish =() and nice everthing actually... how is the mainteance on that thing lol can tell its very hard
Are you worried about those aro's jumping out? I know they are fantastic jumpers. Just curious no harm intended I am sure you have far more experience with them,.
wow what a nice tank you have there! but arent u worried that lizzzard might get eaten by the arowanas, it does jump after all.. and also have ue ver seen ur aros jump =^_^=? but over all very very nice tank =^_^=
They are older Aros and do not jump out of fear, they only jump for food. Thats everyones question but so far they have been in there about a year and not a jump one.
how or where did you get that or biuy the set up i have four two and a half foot plat silvers and three sixteen in jardinis looking for some red asian but no luck i would like to know how to build that
How do you heat/filter/change the water and all of the other maintenance on that tank? I ask because I want to do something like this myself, but am not really sure how to go about it.
Also, I think it's good that you "handle" your fish. With fish that size and a tank like that, should you ever need to move them in an emergency or something, they will be under far less stress than they would if you had never touched them before.
I agree with the safety thing on handling for sure, but I feel the mental stimulation is important. The fact that they come looking for the interaction speaks for itself. A wild animal is very involved in their environment, from hunting to the constant threat of predation. These fish have never really had to fear anything and their environment is changed as often as I can (rearranging decor) but they still don't have an out for curiosity or exploration. I give them that.
They are jumpers, but at this age they've probably calmed down quite a bit. The pond is completely full and it has over-hangs as well. I doubt the aros will be getting out unless they are totally focused on doing so. :)
wow thats huge! lol i figured about 3 foot or so due to how thick it was when you hand your hand next to their body up above the surface of the water...
how thick is your front glass or acrylic? and do you have a plan for this tank?
