Anyway, as I understand it that conflict in Kosovo began for real when the Yugoslav (Serbian) government suddenly started to reduce the rights of the local kosovoalbanians. Some sort of mass punishment for trying to be too independent or something. Now, that doesn't excuse slitting throats or anything like that, but I think there were a lot of Serb nationals doing similar things at one point.
