I remember seeing these at Guitar Center in the 90's. I didn't know they had such good pads/strings on them.

does anyone know if there is a modern memory card that can be used in this for sequencer/song and sound back up? the smart media cards are no longer available.

allows you to store all your505 things on your computrer, allows remote management through sysex messages, generates a VST interface to your MIDI device

you could give it a try. MHO: long better than the superexpensive unreachable roland smart media

Great pad sound! I wish roland would release a new version of the 505, with sample capability, rubber pads and a nice tilt LCD, and 8 outs. I'd buy one in a flash.

@DeliriumElectric i think the mc 909 samples if not ul have to peep later versions like the sp 505 , 606 or mv 8000 but there more like mpcs rather than grooveboxes

Nice track.

Everyone said this thing was a toy when it first came out. I think that's cuz they never got past the cheesy pre-sets. I have used this live and the sound is phat and round. The engine is basically the same as the old JV-1080/2080/etc. series, there's a lot in there if you start tweaking.

no, in this track use only MC-505 and all sounds coming 100% from this groovebox

I have lost my studio, the house is now a ruin..they build a new house of there place..and our studio is gone..now i have to many gears at home, to use all, at the same time, and not enoufgh place to stand up all gear at the same time,,i build new micro studio inside my home...all to small:-(

I have read that 505 accept smartmedia 4MB cards, its sufficient for secuencing ?

Does it accept new patches ?

yepp - it's even (theoretically) more than enough for 200 patterns /songs) - in pratice you canstor 50 SONGS on that ! should make & keep you rich for a reasonable amount of time ;))
