@watercooler I guess it's some kinda horror rule: Slashers usually return a year or so after they are killed/imprisoned, while ghost must wait until some Anniversary of the event that killed them.
Of course, why wait 100 years? Wouldn't 10 be enough, or 5? Also, what if you're not a direct decendent, Do they give you a pass on your brutal murder?
@lexxstrum It's the old "let this curse fall on your great-grandchildren" bit; you don't screw yourself, you screw related people you will never know. And it's all your fault.
In countries where family honor is everything a curse like that would be horrifying.
Pretty much all horror movies suck because the main stream audiences don't care about tone, theme, atmosphere, pacing and character development. They think 'horror' and think it means watching d-bags get killed in funny ways.
It annoys me when I'm watching great horror films with friends and someone says 'this movie is boring... when are they gonna get to the killing?'
Nothing needs a remake, in my opinion, unless its from the 'pre-decent special effects era' (pre-1970s) and only then when the film requires decent effects (Psycho doesn't need great special effects to tell the story effectively,The Fly kinda does).
If they couldn't get the film right in the 1980s and with a decent budget, fuck it. Just leave it alone and make an original film.
This was a bad remake but if you want to talk horrible just watch the remake of Night of the Demons. That film and the King of Fighters movie should be erased from existence... well that and 90% of the movies you have already reviewed.
Why do people even bother modifying anything on remakes? If people like the original, wouldn't it be easier if they all just make shot-for-shot remakes? I mean it isn't pointless to do it it'd just be an update on old ass movies on HD and better effects.
@JukaDominator Well, look how the psycho remake turned out. That was shot-for-shot. Anyway, I think it's better, when doing a remake, to completely make a different film, but utilize the core concept of the original. Like The Thing (1982), and The Fly (1986). Both of these stand as the best remakes ever, in my opinion.
To me, the original FOG succeeds quite well at the only thing a horror movie ever REALLY needs to do-- Scaring you. The story only breaks down with "fridge logic", after the fact: The 100 years later is a standard ghost-story convention, so that doesn't bother me, but after 4 generations, the 6 conspirators only have ONE descendant, each? And Father Malone's direct ancestor was also a PRIEST? (Ok, maybe he's Episcopal, but his last name IS "Malone", that sounds pretty Catholic, to me.)
"Someone needs to make a movie from the ghost's perspective. I'd like to see that."
...
Challenge Accepted.

I saw this movie and the only scary thing about it was Tom Welling's attempts to act.

Just out of curiosity, do you happen to work in the film industry, or are you just a big fan of movies?

It's been a while since I saw this remake, but I seem to remember being massively let down by it.
