PERFECT LAYOUT!!! Excellent job on the video also. Only one more thing would make this layout awesome, if i owned it instead, haa haa. Keep up the good work.
@ArnoldVeeman / Hi Arnold, you might want to take a look at the "Walthers" HO catalog. Several companys like Faller, Kibri and Vollemer offer many styles of European designs, circa 1900. These buildings are of German style, I think you might be able to obtain a "Parisian" look to them with some alteration.

I bought this DVD from Green Frog a few years ago and still never tire watching it. After all this time I'm still picking up details I'd missed on previous viewings!
@PoathTV / Thanks for your purchase, I hope you got the HD version as I think it showes alot more detail than the standard 480. Check out the u-tube HD 1080 version of my layout, enter the city edge layout " street running scenes" in the u-tube search bar. click on the 1080 image at the lower right of the screen and you will get a High Def. image on the layout, and thanks again for your purchase!
LOL. I can't believe I came across this. My brother bought me a 2011 model railroading calendar at the hobby shop, and this layout was on the cover. I knew it was detailed, but I had no idea how expansive it was.. Awesome :)
@crazyfvck / Great!..many thanks to your brother for purchasing the 2011 Model Railroader Calendar for you! Brothers are Great and I don't know what I would do without them!. The photo on the MRR calendar cover is the last published photo on my layout and for the latest video on the layout, Enter "The City Edge Layout" in the You Tube search bar located at the top of this page. Thanks again to you and your Bro!.
um...was i seein things or was the water moving under the trestle? Brass Bridge...2k?...nice weathering on the trains and cars..street and sidewalks ...nailed them...
@chevelle396guy / The brass bridges at the end of the video were a Limited run Production made by Overland Models about ten or so years ago and I do not know if any are still available. The price of the bridge was around $700.00 for each 225 ft span. To see a more recent video of the bridge scene, go to the top of this page, in the U-TUBE search bar enter: "The City Edge Layout" and you will get to see a "10 min" video of the entire layout, including the bridge scene built in the basement wall.
@quincin2000 / Haha, you are correct. I spent several hours a week for 12 years and I almost have the layout finished. I could have completed the layout a lot sooner if I could of stayed out of the local taverns LOL. Check out the newest video with edited "prototype" sound. You Tube search bar enter: "The City Edge layout"....thanks.
@wasteom / One of my Train buddies got the Frisco GP38s from Atlas about 10 or so years ago, as far as I can remember. Do not know if Atlas is still producing the Frisco painted GP38s but I think Athearn is, you'll have to check out their websites.
Thats pretty cool city modeling right there . I working on a city project aswell about 3 times as big with about 100 buildings some 20+ stories.. live DCC PRR catenary and trolley overhead wire. check out my latest videos
this would be good with the faller car system thing;
a wire is added below road surface (cut a groove, add wire then fill and paint etc) and the road vehicles steering follows the cable with a magnet so the wheels steer. the vehicles were battery powered but I suppose u could have an overhead power line and a bus with pantograph?
I cant believe how good this is and how poor mine is in comparison....bah...
Im getting into south american locomotives but no good models.
@littleevan99 / Yes, that is me..or I should say that is the City Edge layout that I built. Also Kalmbach published a Excellent print of the layout on the cover of the new Model Railroader Calander 2011, if you get a chance the next time you are at a Train Related hobby shop, Take a look, Kalmbach did a great job on "Print Quality" of the photo!. Thanks for taking the time to view my video!.
@hoscalecody / Tunsten bulbs 3,200 Kelvin with wattage ranging from 500 to 1,000 watts each. Depending on the scene I would use anywhere from 1,500 to 4,000 watts to light the layout for the video. We are now experimenting with some new 3-D techniques that takes realism to a new level!.
You have shocked me with this layout. I am in aw. After I finish this comment, I will go search for my jaw that fell off in the first few seconds. This definately ranks top 5 of the best indoor layouts I have seen. Amazing work and detail, great filming skills too. Keep up the great work. subscribed
GREAT LAYOUT! I'm wondering what specific model of railroad crossing signals those are at 0:27 which are also later shown during the 7-loco consist. And what's the price for the double-track bridge?
@jrs689 / Thank You very much!. The crossing signals were custom made by Tomar and are activated by a current sensing device produced by Dalle Electronics, but the gates will soon be activated by an infrared device. The 225 ft. truss bridge is an out of production brass model produced by Overland models. Price unknown?.
@CSILCPD / Greetings, The biker gang, along with the Choppers are metal castings by " Elskan" which as for as I know is an European company. I recieved the castings from a friend who purchased them from a U.S. company called "The Vehicle Connection". I do not know if the company is still around, a quick search on the internet may help. These bikes have the long frame that is common among Harley riders that are on the road today. Check out "Streetrunning version #4 & #5. Thank You!.
