@ArnoldVeeman / Hi Arnold, you might want to take a look at the "Walthers" HO catalog. Several companys like Faller, Kibri and Vollemer offer many styles of European designs, circa 1900. These buildings are of German style, I think you might be able to obtain a "Parisian" look to them with some alteration.

@chevelle396guy / The brass bridges at the end of the video were a Limited run Production made by Overland Models about ten or so years ago and I do not know if any are still available. The price of the bridge was around $700.00 for each 225 ft span. To see a more recent video of the bridge scene, go to the top of this page, in the U-TUBE search bar enter: "The City Edge Layout" and you will get to see a "10 min" video of the entire layout, including the bridge scene built in the basement wall.

this would be good with the faller car system thing;

a wire is added below road surface (cut a groove, add wire then fill and paint etc) and the road vehicles steering follows the cable with a magnet so the wheels steer. the vehicles were battery powered but I suppose u could have an overhead power line and a bus with pantograph?

I cant believe how good this is and how poor mine is in comparison....bah...

Im getting into south american locomotives but no good models.

@hoscalecody / Tunsten bulbs 3,200 Kelvin with wattage ranging from 500 to 1,000 watts each. Depending on the scene I would use anywhere from 1,500 to 4,000 watts to light the layout for the video. We are now experimenting with some new 3-D techniques that takes realism to a new level!.

GREAT LAYOUT! I'm wondering what specific model of railroad crossing signals those are at 0:27 which are also later shown during the 7-loco consist. And what's the price for the double-track bridge?

The crossing signals were custom made by Tomar and are activated by a current sensing device produced by Dalle Electronics, but the gates will soon be activated by an infrared device. The 225 ft. truss bridge is an out of production brass model produced by Overland models. Price unknown?.

@CSILCPD / Greetings, The biker gang, along with the Choppers are metal castings by " Elskan" which as for as I know is an European company. I recieved the castings from a friend who purchased them from a U.S. company called "The Vehicle Connection". I do not know if the company is still around, a quick search on the internet may help. These bikes have the long frame that is common among Harley riders that are on the road today. Check out "Streetrunning version #4 & #5. Thank You!.

Thank you!. This is my 3rd layout. The first one was a country (rural) style layout, but it seemed to bore everbody to death. I do not think I was very good at rural scenery. The City Edge layout turned out to be very good at providing a lot of entertainment for layout visitors.

Yes, that is real water--the entire background is a Green Screen, then they fill it in electronically with a real background.

Typically you would pour some kind of modeling plaster around the tracks, then color or paint the plaster, as well as some carving and trimming!
