@Nickkraw The Japanese didn't really use crossbows and gunpowder weapons. Chinese fortifications were far less flammable compared to those paper wall forts. Naval warfare involved cannons as well as close combat and chariots were rampantly used.

shogun is a incredibly amazingly made game (just needs a little better graphics). But it is so good because of it's realistic game play and historical accuracy. Though my suggestion would be that the next total war themes should be on there 3 historical wars
1. Three Kingdoms (China)
2. Asian Supremacy (asian countries battles for power)
3. Opium War (China vs 8 nation Army)
These three themes are amazing because it brings very famous and enjoyable historical battles, introducing Ancient China

I think a total war based in pre-hispanic Philippines would be great, much variety, you had warlords, kings and even sultanates down south bickering at each other, not many know of our history so thats a one up if creative assemply could pull this off, and then wouldn't it be fun to see how well you can fend off against the Spanish Invasion? One thing is certain, alliances would be very neccessary, as that's what we fucked up with before.
China: Total War is more suitable. Plenty of provinces, bickering lords and annoying invaders. It would be much different from Shogun because Chinese military tactics are much different than Japanese.
@noelwym123 I agree with you but instead of focusing on just country i think they should make a total war where it streches from Mongolia to Indonesia, From the caspian to Korea, that way there could be a massive amount of factions AND they should have timperiod campaigns where one campaign you could play as the Tang or Baktrians, and then another campaign where you can play as the Yuan defending the mongols or kwarazemshahs. A campaign of that scale would take a long time to make but wud b epic

Perhaps they could also play historical battles like the battle of Chengpu, Maling, Changping, Julu and Red Cliffs. Another feature I wish they would put in is when battles are heavily in the odds of the enemy, the general may commit suicide, after all that usually happened historically.

Cuz im talking about grand campaigns that are like kingdoms but the map size is like Europa Barabarorum/Empire Total War big. People should check out King Arthur the Roleplaying Wargame. Shogun 2 has taken a lot of ideas from the game and is therefore similar to KA in many ways

@MrRikardoe He said WWI and no WWI was not only consisting on trench warfare that was mostley on the western front, in the eastearn front and caimpaigns in africa combat was much more manuverable making full use of calvary as well. Also the game could simply be based on the nations and technology of the time it doesnt have to be exactly as it was, the tech would be very interesting naval battles between battleships early airplanes and riveted armored vehicles.
@Mr94T Would be better if it was called Total War: Nationhood and take place between 1800-1900 with technology up to 1918 - probably easiest if we miss out aeroplanes though...
@canada4563 no u really needa think about this, trench warfare was super boring and gorey there was no movement just years of stalemate. Would not be fun unless you like matches that last hours and nothing happens. Total War is also about controlling large units, it just wouldn't work. If you want a WW1 strategy game download Toy Soldiers. Its really good seriously.

@Rojjter Since ww2 was only concisting of trenches built in lines over countries, I don't think trenchwars would make a fun battle, And they would probarly take about 2 years to end.

@MrRikardoe He said WWI and no WWI was not only consisting on trench warfare that was mostley on the western front, in the eastearn front and caimpaigns in africa combat was much more manuverable making full use of calvary as well. Also the game could simply be based on the nations and technology of the time it doesnt have to be exactly as it was, the tech would be very interesting naval battles between battleships early airplanes and riveted armored vehicles.

@Mr94T Would be better if it was called Total War: Nationhood and take place between 1800-1900 with technology up to 1918 - probably easiest if we miss out aeroplanes though...

@Mr94T yeah they need a total war spanning from like the 1850s to like 1920, the late 1800s and early 1900s is a time period they havent done yet

@canada4563 no u really needa think about this, trench warfare was super boring and gorey there was no movement just years of stalemate. Would not be fun unless you like matches that last hours and nothing happens. Total War is also about controlling large units, it just wouldn't work. If you want a WW1 strategy game download Toy Soldiers. Its really good seriously.

Humm ..I think they should create a Total War that includes Africa, Asia and Europe. AND NOT MAKE THE TERRITORY SIZES 25X LARGER!
Like the size they have in Rome Total War: Barbarian Invasion ...
That way it can follow all the Kingdoms and Empires.

@willhirst123 Actually,Toyotomi hideyoshi(oda nobunaga's vassel) united the land, then after hideyoshi died hideyori succeeded him with 5 regents in control of power ,tokugawa Ieyasu is one of them
Conflict btw regents (3 vs Ieyasu) (1 has deceased before conflict) ended at Sekigahara campaign
Ieyasu won ,and granted title as first shogun
