  • The PRO of the PRO!!!

  • Lol at all the complaints. Changing plugs on a subaru is about as time consuming as most cars are nowadays...

90% of new cars have their plugs buried under plastic engine covers, manifolds, or coils.

Stop whining, it takes like ten minutes to change plugs on subaru's !!

  • @riskybisness Really? I think ten minutes is an exaggeration. If not, I want to see you do it in less than 10 minutes real time. lol I own an SRT-4 and was looking into getting a WRX, but wanted to get something that's also super easy to work on for the basic things. You should look at how to replace spark plugs on a Neon SRT-4. NSRT-4 spark plugs are a 10 minute job, not this. lol

  • Great video. Will be very helpful when I do mine!

  • I couldn't find the damn spark plugs, after watvhing this video I was able to replace them in less than 2 hours on my Subaru Legacy B4. That plug on the rear passenger side is a b@tch but it help BIG time, Thanks.

  • i like subaru but they are to hard to work on.

  • Thanks for the tutorial vid, do you guys have a shop? I noticed an LBC shirt, I'm from around the area.

  • whats the diference of the prcedure for the impreza 2.0 2011

  • would this work the same for a 02?

  • @ThoughtsofRoss It will be pretty much the exact same for an 02 wrx.

  • @Dirtyhobo010 And for a 2005 WRX. Very helpful video! Thank you!

  • Easier if u take out the motor?

  • Lots of preliminary work... I'm glad for the owners don't have to change the plugs so frequently. (every 60k+, varies depending on types of plugs used). Great demo!

  • this video serves well for older subarus also - only thing different is there is less room to work and no coilpacks. nice work, very useful.

  • Thanks! That vid gave me a really good sense of what I am up against. Looks like a lot of the work is done by 'feel' and not by sight. Flat-4s sound great, but this spark plug change looks to be a real pain in the ass compared to Inlines and Vs.

  • Thanx. I have a 2005 Legacy gt but it looks like this will work for me.

  • thanks that was helpful

  • Thanks for posting this! My son has a 2005 Legacy GT and my wife has a 2009 Tribeca which have a similar set up. All my previous Subies were 2004 and earlier! I was shocked when I saw how different 2005's and newer Subies were set up! The coil packs had me puzzled! This helped tremendously!!! Thanks again!

  • how much time did it take you? i just bought an 05 legacy last month and its due in less than 1000k

  • The passenger side depends if this is an American video or UK! -Which cylinder will run leanest when viewed from the drivers seat, left or right on the rearmost rear bank?

  • 30k+ VIEWS PSHHHH SO LONG GAY BOIS!

  • Great video. Helped me get it done without too much difficulty. The back two plugs are a bit of a pain though. I couldn't get the ratchet on the coil pack bolts so I had to unscrew and screw those back in with a wrench. Slow going. Also, be careful with the electrical connectors going onto the coil packs! I broke a tab off so I'm probably going to lose a connector to road vibration and be running on 3 cylinders. Going to pick up a new connector ASAP!

  • Thank you SO much for this video. You guys are awesome. How might I go about changing the wires?

  • @Smitchell1000 There are no wires that you would need to change, there is only the wiring harness and the coil packs.

  • kinda reminds me of a video you would watch in high school science class lol. good video though

  • woow i hope the 2.0R engine going to be that complicated

  • wats the nameof the song btw lol

  • @goldsgym1244 The name of the song is unconscious alliance by General Fuzz

  • gotta do mine on the v3 sti this weekend ! good vid

  • Is this an 06 sti??

  • @koolvato19 Its an 05 STi

  • Good video, thank you for this

  • how long did this actually take...seems like u knew wat ur doin...what bout the first time u did it

  • @twobimmers I believe it takes about 30 min or so.

  • Good vid but ive found....

No need to take battery out and when u loosen the washer bottle, just unplug the pump wires and rest the whole washer aside.

when u take out the spark plug socket no need to take wire out, just let it hang.

  • great vid thanks man by the way who is the music

  • @mar0367 I cite the music at the end in the credits.

  • @RandomConcepts Probably because I had like two hours to edit forty minute video down to six

  • Thanks man, now I have a little confidence that I'll do this right. I'm surprised they made a basic maintenance component so difficult to get at. Your video is much appreciated!

  • Thanks! I was told this is a $200 job. Much easier than I thought. I assume it is basically the same for a WRX?

  • Thanks so much for this video. I was trying to decide whether I should do it myself or pay someone to do it for me, now I know what I am in for if I decide to do it myself. Those darn boxer engines don't make it easy do they? I appreciate your video!

  • Is that the stock Subaru air filter??? Looks a lot like the one in my Outback (in terms of shape).

Have you considered the STI/SPT drop-in air filter?

And thanks for uploading, it's a great walkthrough. However, I wouldn't do it myself since it looks like such a PITA (also, I'm fat so it's even harder!). I know I could do it, but I have a hard enough time servicing small stuff. I'd pay the overpriced bill to get a Subaru dealer to do it.

  • I have a 2.5L impreza, coming up on 34K miles now... it is probably time to do spark plugs. This looks like a major pain in the ass though. Now I know why the manual says just to bring it in for service.

  • i have EJ254 is real hard to change spark plugs ;( EJ205 no problem

  • thanks man lots of help

  • Thanks for this video. Replaced my plugs on my 2005 Baja 2.5L Turbo in about 3 hours. This is how I rate the job from 1 to 5 five being the most difficult.

    A. Technical difficultly 2

    B. Labor Intensive 3

    C. Time comsuming 3.5

The rear plugs on either side can be a challenge. Ensure you have all the proper socket tools, some with lock release capability or you will have trouble getting the plug socket out.

Thanks man, I am glad I could help

  • autolite?? really???

  • @skylinesupra13 Yea, It's all they had @ the parts store and I had to make the video THAT night. I recently installed some NGK iridium 1 step colder plugs for my protuned stage 2 setup.

  • Good video, i recently bought an STI and i want to change the spark plugs and i was gonna take it to the dealer cuz i thought it would be too hard but after seeing the video i am doing it myself cuz the dealer wanted 100 bucks for labor plus parts.

  • No, I dont have any of the rear diff or trans. I should have made a video when I changed them, but I did not think about it.

  • be awesome if i actually had an STi to do it on:)

  • bout to do this today. Well done!

  • good vid, u dont have a vid on changing the sti gearbox and diff oil do you?

  • Usually it takes around 30-45 minutes depending on how fast your trying to work.

  • Thanks for the help bro!

  • thanx 4 the tip!!

  • I'm happy to help another subaru owner!

  • in real time how long did it take?

  • Awesome tutorial! very helpful!
