  • Rotate the motherfucking laptop...please?

    for cooling system asus

  • You sound like someone from Asus tech support.

  • Welcome to quiky mart. Thank you come again

  • I have the Asus G73, other than the CPU and a newer graphics card it doesn't look like much has changed.

Its a shame they don't sell the G74 with a SSD drive.

  • @xianscott "They" do.

I had the option for Solid State on both drives.

Also this guy has no idea what he's talking about. Granted this is an old review but still

  • @xianscott actually they do and actually you can customize or pick your g74 with ssd or hybrid

  • all i herd was durka durak moohamad ghad durk sherp alla

  • First off, you don't buy a gaming rig for Battery Life. It's a desktop replacement ! You don't run your desktop on a battery....

This will need to be plugged in the entire time it is on.

If you want battery life, get an ACER netbook.

Why did they put TWO hard drives in this ?

That's 2 hard drives that go bad and you have to buy 2 hard drives.

I would just clone the one that comes with it "As Is" and store it "Out of Rig" and keep important downloads on a external usb drive.

  • I'm thinkin getting this for college. Looks amazing and it has a great price.battery life is decent and a non issue and looks like it runs anything.

  • MSI GT780 or This one? The Msi seems to have better specs.. ?

  • @dudewheresmydvd MSI quality is questionable. That's why I am choosing this.

  • @nitroxide17 Thanks, I have decided on the Asus also since I found out they actually make their own computers. I'm going for the 160gb ssd version :)

  • @nitroxide17 true

  • I saw this bad boy running Crysis, BF3, MW3 with no problems... Ordered mine today with seperate gameing mouse and virus software for around 1800$ total (Canadian) My first laptop will bring me UNLIMITED POWER!!!

  • @oREDLINEo Yes. Unlimited power indeed. Dumbass.

  • i had a mac and all its use is 2 wipe my ass

  • @916Radman sweet. this is the one at best buy right the g74sx-bbk7 something like that? because i might be getting that one soon so im looking for information.

  • @916Radman tell me how it runs when u play it

  • man i want to get this but i dunno wanna hear they going to be developing a g75 with better everything and i just wasted money buying this thing.....

  • @Tililweet There will always be better machines coming out every year. If you keep waiting something else will come out which will then be outdated in a years time and so on.

  • but i think upgradeable laptops is the best laptop around the world

  • Is this better than the Alienware m14x, the m14x with max settings

  • is any one having cooling problems like i am.

is 75 degrees celcius average normal when playing something like bad company 2 on max?

  • I'm so eager to buy this laptop. I can have one anytime, but I ain't sure if this could run BF3 smoothly.

  • @yojgee it should ill let you know monday

  • i wish i were able to buy it!

  • veeeery niiiice...i liaaake ....

  • This laptop or the Toshiba Qosmio X770?????

  • @henrry222 This one is a lot better than Toshiba's gaming brand! This laptop is probably best all around gaming laptop you can buy. Alienware can give you the best specs but I have heard that Alienware laptops have numerous problems with software and hardware. Also the cooling is better in this laptop, and also its not owned by gay dell or over hyped Toshiba, Asus has much better support.

  • okay, i already got this today, and haven't tried it for some Multimedia tasks or games, it looked awesome anyways :p

  • Alienware M17x or getting Asus G74SX-A1? which one should i get? and a reason Please, thanks

  • @Syredisa057 g74 ;)

  • If I were you I would buy ASUS. Why? because alienware is a big fucking ripoff! With asus you get for 1.500 bucks 1Tb memory, 8gb Ram, I7.... But with alienware you get for the same price 500gig s of memory and only 4 gb of RAM and a I5 processor.

  • @Syredisa057 g74 because of price for what you get

  • @tao1541 yeah this laptop is awesome, got it already, im not using it for gaming 100% thou, rofl

  • @Syredisa057 Go for the ASUS! I got the m17x and its true they do rip you off, and I'm stuck with a GTX 460m graphics card and I can't play BF3 beta at high settings. :l

  • @DanieltheError ah? i dont think i can play high settings in this laptop? ( BF 3) but i hope i can! mmm lol

  • @Syredisa057 with the Asus you could definitely play it at High possible even at Ultra settings. It has 560m, which is the in the recommended specs for BF3. Plus it has plenty of Ram. you will be good.

  • @DanieltheError The recommended GPU for BF3 is GTX 560 not GTX 560M. But yea indeed the GTX 560M can run at 30FPS.

  • @DanieltheError you can try upgrading it to a GTX 470M/570M/580M yourself, it's upgradable in an Alienware rig. But the G74SX can't be upgraded because there's no MXM slot on the G74SX as the GTX560M is soldered onto the board. And in the G73SW the bios has locked the type of MXM card that can be used on it so not upgradable as well.

  • @r565687 I know that, but I don't want to spend like another 1000 on a graphics card just yet. I fear by the time I do they might be in the 600 series, (which may be compatible), i would just wait a while. NVIDIA upgrades like every week its insane.

  • @Syredisa057 For me, it's G74. M17x is just overrated. G74 has almost the same specs with m17x. Plus, upgrading has been made easier on this.

  • how would this run snow leopard?

  • @italianodicuore Snow leapoard is BSD, check BSD's system requirements. It would run it quite well, except you may need new drivers for everything. Good luck.

  • @leavened I know because i tried it before and it outperforms most macs by price and hardware, the frustration is the drivers.

  • They really fucked up by not making the zero key larger in the numeric keypad. This is the only thing I hate about this laptop. Everything else is perfect.

  • mine is lagging like mad

  • I heard it can't use wifi... I find it hard to believe, but Is this true or just a myth?

  • Lol he sounds like Borat :) no offense i love borat :)

  • its a portable desktop, where you hop from outlet to outlet, its not meant for battery life

  • Don't like Asus at all, they look like shit. Get maxed dell xps 15 for less then that thing.

  • @CraftTheory Retard or troll? Sometimes you can never figure out which.

  • @CraftTheory dude DELLLLLLLLL asus may look bad but it pretty much destroys alienware in the long run i would know

  • @LOLKINGBABY Im thinking of getting alienware m18x

  • @CraftTheory if you have the money for it! i applaud you as a fellow pc gamer even if you get a netbook to play... ugh runescape on the run.

  • Amazon.com claims they had six in stock today. I bought one and having it shipped for next day air Saturday. Just checked the listing again, this time it went back to the "This item has not yet been released. You may pre-order it now and we will deliver it to you when it arrives." I have no idea if they actually had it in stock. Usually they just say they are out of stock and more coming soon. As soon as a tracking number is released, I'll let everyone know it's the real deal. No stock elsewhere

  • should i buy this or the msi gt780dx? my main use for it would be gaming, i can't decide

  • @b2daoink Go for the Asus. The specs are pretty much the same but the Asus has a much stronger build quality. Plus you get a free mouse and backpack! lol.

  • 1,795.00 in australia ;D

  • it can go to internet right?

  • @thepingu39 no, its the only laptop in the world that cant!

  • @dirty1smelly1turban why it has google chrome and firefox in the video??

  • @thepingu39 that was sarcasm *slaps forehead*. OBVIOUSLY it can fucking go on the internet. EVERY FUCKING LAPTOP CAN.

  • @dirty1smelly1turban well.. i knew that but not sure lOL!!

  • @thegreenghost1000 problem?

  • Hey i went to xoticpc.com and they give you the option to buy 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-2720QM, 2.2-3.3GHz, (32nm, 6MB L3 cache) this processor allows you to enable 1600mhz ram configuration... is this true? ...a service agent said it was true...what do you guys know?

  • @MrAbedip123 It's true yeah. However, I've heard on many many forums that the 2630QM also recognizes 1600Mhz and 1866Mhz, too. People have posted many threads proving it, saying that Intel's data sheet for the 2630QM is BS. I personally haven't tried it, though. If it's true, the 2720QM isn't worth an extra $389.

  • Should I egt this laptop, OR the Acer Aspire Ethos 8951g?

I plan on doing some very heavy gaming, and music listining. My buget is $2000, and I am in the market for a laptop with power! Any help (Including other sugestions for laptops) is highly appreciated!! Thanks!

  • @tjcharlier I recommend staying FAR from Acer. They have little to none customer support, and the design is poor. Very plastic-ish. Go with the Asus, they have good customer support, plus a minimum 2 year warranty (better than the standard 1 year that is pretty much industry-wide), 1 year of accidental damage, gaming mouse, and 70 dollar backpack, all included.

  • Can this computer be selected with Windows Ultimate so that older XP programs can run on it ?

  • Best Buy sells stripped down models of everything computer manufacturers create. Nothing wrong with that, because you save money on things you don't need. Just do you homework and know what you find acceptable for performance. Best Buy does NOT sell the 1080p version of this.

  • Wrecked i got mine for 1500

  • Ive been doing some research and seems like you can get a Sager NP8170 setup with a better GPU and 120hz 3D screen even for about the same price

  • Comment removed

  • You can buy this laptop for just UNDER $2000 right now. An Alienware m18x with equal components is going to run you around $3200.

  • why the tecnology is so expensive? Anyone can afford that, except Bill gates and Steve jobs...

  • @THEBIGGESTPENISEVER betta save up or just make youre own stationary comp way better u can make sometin the same for half the price

  • @mrfizch i am totally agreed wth u, the asus rog products are overpriced.

  • @gadgetjm Hey I have a some questions. What is your G74 CPU speed? What is the screen size? How much better this laptop is than G73? And cud you play games like Assassin's Creed Brotherhood...Call of Duty Black Ops...NFS the newest ones?

  • @RichmanMoneyEye The Cpu is clocked at 2.0ghz with a turbo speed of 2.9ghz. The screen is 17.3 inches diagonal. The G74's with the 192 bit memory interface 560m is about 20% more powerful than the G74 with the 460m (The Best Buy model is about the same performance as the G73). All those games you mentioned can be maxed out easily by this notebook.

  • Price is $1,199.99 (not including tax, warrenty, etc) from BestBuy

  • @2hai4you For the BB7 version =3

  • does it still suffer from the g73jh overheating issues?

the heating vent is much ugliers tho'...

  • 30 minutes battery life...haha...byebye then, asus.. :$

how can u call it a Laptop if its like that :|

  • @eladbari

    It's not. It's a desktop replacement.

  • Nope not a lot of GTX 560m notebooks have optimus enabled...

  • Does the g74 have optimus technology?

  • Save yourself some pennies guys and order it from newegg.com

  • Svensk?

  • This is not an actual G74sx...rather its a Best Buy version thats why its cheap...

  • am ordering it alrdy )

  • Where i can i buy this laptop?

  • @MrBadShow xoticpc.com

  • Yeah but AMD Suck nvidia support games better and have better drivers.

  • Are the F-KEYS the first function on them or do you have to press alt to get an F-key function?

  • I think the 485m is still a bit faster than the 580m

  • The 560m is not the most powerful mobile GPU right now and it wasn't back on June 12 either. The GTX 485M was the most powerful on June 12th and now it is the GTX 580M.

  • Does this have F-keys as the first function on the key or do you have to alt-key to get the f-keys function, I am asking because I have a dell where the F-keys are alt-enabled and I hate it!

  • this is the coolest laptop ever, it runs at 39 degress celcius on idle, and 69 on furmark, which is pretty amazing for a gtx560 and a laptop, it is louder than g73, but it runs cooler

  • The 3DE has a matte 120hz screen and Blu-Ray burner

  • Is there a difference between the Asus G74SX A-1, and the Asus G74SX 3DE beside having 3D?

  • The JH still has a better GPU...the ATi mobility 5870

  • i got it for $250 dollars. best buy black tie protection ftw.

  • Does this keyboard have the f-keys as the first function? It isn't like a dell where the f-keys are alt-key-activated?

  • So are these better, if not the samethen the Alienware M18x? I'm looking to buy a new gaming laptop since my current HP Dv7 can't handle games on Ultra settings. I customized an M18x and it ends up anywhere between $3-3500 while this is like half the price. Simply put I want a laptop that can handle any games on max settings. Anyone with past experiences or knowledge on the two would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • @Hotshy420 I currently own the previous generation of the ASUS gaming laptops; the G73-JH. I can play almost every game I have on maximum graphics with a good framerate, 45-60+ fps. Some of the more intensive games I've played on it are: GTA:IV, Crysis, Crysis 2, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Call of Duty Black Ops, and many others.

The new G74 series is even better. To my knowledge, these are the best 'semi' portable gaming computers for the price.

  • 1199.99 at bestbuy. + $100.00 Mail in rebate. SO = $1099.99

  • ASUS G74SX-XT1. Just got it. Awesome laptop. Much better laptop for much better price than that Alienware crap.

  • @snuffles2u its 1199.99 at Best Buy.

  • @xMentallyVexedx & @xxKxNxIxGxHxTxx & @JustBetter10

how can this be that cheap? i cant find it in bestbuy.com can you send me a link?

  • is they coling fans higher sound ? than g73sw and has it light keys and what wifi 3.0? plz help

  • Bestbuy has a bit of a watered down version (1tb hdd, 8gb ram, 900p screen) with the same CPU and GPU for $1199. And you get a free $100 GC (in store).

  • hows's the noise level under stress by the way?

  • well, I think it's missing a dual graphic card option as alienware m18x does, that's why I am still a bit indecisive between those two laptops

  • I just got it tonight it is weird, but I am SOOOO new to it. Seems fast. And mine has 1 TERABYTE!

  • @DeathLeftHid 1.5 tb is the standard on em

  • gonna buy this, cant wait!

  • I just bought it :D

    Shipping to me 05.07-2011

  • @bergenseren4 how much did u pay? i found the cheapest one for 1500 dollars, with one harddrive (dont need a second one)

  • The price starts from $1745 and goes up to $1979 for 3D-version.

  • @quatros1000 if u look at some websites that has the customization button u can remove the second harddrive and the blue ray player, then its about 1500

  • will there be separate versions like one without 3d and one with 3d cuz atm i am not interested in 3D

  • there is no way of put in some dual graphics cards?

  • Most people buy Gaming laptops like this for use at Lan parties and so thus the battery isn't to relevant to them.

  • and how much is this?

  • @snuffles2u we don't know for sure. Similar priced version costs 2200 euro in Sweeden so I'd reckon around 2000-2200 USD in the US...

  • @gadgetjm 1799 usd :) 1399 usd for non 3d model, and 1199 usd for the crappy bestbuy version

  • @gadgetjm 1200 on best buy in the US

  • @dfairbanks06 The Best Buy one is not a good option.. the video card is not 192bit.

  • @gadgetjm the one with 12gb of ram you can get for 1400$ usd. It is far cheaper in the US.

  • @snuffles2u About 1400€ in sweden for the cheapest.

  • @snuffles2u 1745~ usd for the normal version 1979~usd for the 3D version.

  • @snuffles2u 1799 canadian at canada computers

  • @snuffles2u $1200 american dollars

  • @snuffles2u in the US it is 1,199 $

  • @xBlurrzz in norway it is around 2000$ -.-

  • @MrFox1231 Damn :/

  • @snuffles2u 1200 U.S dollars

    Hella bang for your buck.

  • @snuffles2u 1400-1900

  • @snuffles2u I got mine for $1400 from microcenter
