i watched this as a lil girl and this song has remain in my head but i could never figure it out till i was older. it still makes me smile and though gene scars the shit outta me i liked him as the mock turtle
Hallmark was the production company with the help of Jim Henson's Creature Shop. Not sure who was the director. I'd go see the Tim Burton version any day! I've seen the teaser trailer and it looks to be quite starkly enchanting.
I totally missed this movie. I need to see it, so thanks for posting it. Martin Short is one of my favorites of all time, and Tina Marjorino as Alice!! Great casting! I have the 1985,Steve Allen version of "Alice..." on VHS (taped from TV) and love that one too. Natalie Gregory is so adorable in it! BTW, Quidget... I frequently recite the first two verses of the Jabberwocky and my kids think I'm nuts when I do!! That's why I'm the CRAZY singing chick!
Alice in Wonderland. It's the 1999 version of the Lewis Carroll's wonderful book. It blends both the first story of her adventures and the second of her many adventures through the looking glass. If you've read the book, you can tell which parts of the film belong to which sections of the tale.
I have that one on my "Alice in Wonderland-The Musical:Part 2" if you're interested.
I love that song, too! Now the way the Mock Turtle sings it in the books is imagined as more of a dirge or a mournful memorial to his past dreams as the turtle he once was...Gene Wilder is an excellent mock turtle, is he not?
It is! I love Henson's version of the Jabberwocky. "And as in uffish thought he stood, the jabberwock with eyes aflame! Came whistling through the Tulgey wood and burbled as it came!" Jabberwock:Burbleburble! Burble!
It's not on there...sorry for the misunderstanding. I just felt like writing that. It's in the second book to Alice in Wonderland "Through the Looking Glass". If you want to hear "Jabberwocky", you ought to see the Muppetfied version. I have it on my favorites if you want to see it.
This is not a musical.

Twinkle, twinkle, little bat!
How I wonder what you're at!
Up above the world you fly,
Like a tea-tray in the sky.
Twinkle, twinkle, little twinkle,
you don't squeak but solely twinkle
"Twinkle twinkle little bee, Twinkle, twinkle, I am so glad it isn't me"
