the thing that always gets me about this song is that line

"Somehow I cannot hide/Who I am, though I've tried" which breaks my heart. there are so many who feel they aren't good enough as themselves, and this song reflects all that teenage insecuirity... it really humbles you to learn that your childhood heros felt bad about themselves at some point, too

I'm an ftm, this was by far my favorite movie growing up (And land before time, haha). I love this song, it's by far the most beautiful thing I've heard, probably because I can relate to every word so well and in ways a lot of people don't understand. Best movie for trans kids that's for sure, to show them being themselves isn't always as female as expected. Princesses ain't got nothing on Mulan! She's one of a kind in the world of kids movies. At least in my eyes. :)

yeah, Christina has like no respect for the music. she just sings it because someone is paying her to. theres no feeling when she sings it. this is the version i like, it has emotions to it. great job ^-^

this is beautiful. If this poignant,lovely version is original, how come Disney gave much more publicity to Christina Aguilera´s version which is not as good voice -wise?. There is a part where she seems to strain her voice.

@Pauli4e Lol as she never had vocal training, she always strains her voice because she doesn't support the notes with her diaphragm. Love Christina, but this is better vocally talking.
