Look, whether you agree with her policies or not - and this shouldn't suggest that I do, because I don't - this is a woman who dropped out of high school, got pregnant when she was 16, had to operate a fish-and-chip shop just to pay the bills, and ended up becoming the leader of a federal Australian political party, an outpost she used to dare to step up to the microphone and say what we all never had the balls to say. That alone is worthy of respect.

Pauline Hanson had a real grievance, but identified the wrong culprits. Unemployment and redistribution of national income away from average people to rich elites were products of Hawke/Keating neo-liberal reforms and the destruction of our manufacturing industries. Instead, Hanson conflated this with "multiculturalism" and immigration which did not create the problem.

No educated person pays any attention to Hanson in this country, unless they are making a joke about how stupid she is. Her own grandfather was an immigrant (from England) - she is ridiculous.
Bring on the Asians! Improve our gene pool with your lovely cancer-resistant skin, and improve our brains by encouraging multilingualism!

Recently the coalition, Labor and Noel Pearson have parroted the exact the same policy vis a vis aboroginal relations as Pauline Hanson did 10 years ago. That is, welfare dependancy is bad for any community. I say good on her on for saying that back then. I cant accept the criticism of people who like to just label her as 'stupid'. That type of response is lacking any depth of analysis.

Difficult to ignore her manner of speaking, and her low-com-denom appeal. I don't think that she's saying what she's saying because she is a brilliant political mind. She appeals to fear and ignorance over reason and compassion, and that's not ok. She's not advocating solutions - she's not lobbying for improved social services, like more district/rural nurses, or more accessible native-language classes for Aboriginal children - unless I am mistaken?

After listening to several clips from this woman, and reading several comments of different people on here, I have come to the conclusion that Australia is in fact, stuck in the 1960's. The bad hairdos, the racists ideologies, and people actually paying attention to these rednecks and backing it. Hilarious.
