  • I'll give my left kidney to have been at that concert !!! To have heard DIO sing Rainbow - LIVE - Jesus Christ man.....

  • Jesus H. Christof! Back to Yngwie vs. Ritchie? This should be a celebration of metal's most gifted singer! I grew up on Ritchie. He is my favorite guitarist because I approach the instrument the same way he does- it's INSTINCT after 32 years. Yngwie is a fucking genius who stood on RB's shoulders, sped it up, and opened the gate for Vinnie Moore, MacAlpine, and Greg Howe. Go listen to the song Marching Out- Plenty of "feeling". The point? There's never been a voice like Dio's. J. Dewar's either

  • one of the best songs they did together, i love the dio blackmore stuff

  • long live rock and roll indeed

  • The music is as eternal spirit has no end

  • Blackmore & Dio!! What a treat!! Thanks for posting !!

  • After the show he came out the backstage door to sign autographs and when he got to me the pen ran out of ink. Dio Waited with me while a roadie went to get another pen.So good to his fans, take it from me

  • Dio was really cool to me. Black @Blue tour

  • May 16, 2011 - RIP RJD! \m/ \m/

  • God of Guitar is Ritchie Blackmore !

  • Richie really thought he was the shit back then lol. You know he hates that Dio became more well known then him .

  • @turns2gold beautiful man, you hit the nail on the head bro

the reason why blackmore and dio never had a good repore was because blackmore wanted to be the shit kinda like yngwie's attitude but dio being a killer singer ...dio over ruled ......

  • i hate blackmore

even i accept to he is good guitarist

  • Thanks for this! I miss both Dio and Powell.

  • you are and will always be the absolute greatest of all born and unborn singers...i truly feel someone is missing...

  • boy, just like the album..no embellishment or watering down..Cozy's cymbals are perfect..The best early stuff I've seen, right at the time b4 they substitute players & play it a million times . The right place & time for those ticket holders !

  • dio would know, he rocked the place to the ground eons ago, then rocked the parthian city that was built after it

  • wow,what can i say..ive got tears in my eyes,this is beautyfull!

  • Hope you Guys Enjoy My Version. Long Live DIO

  • A ver si en estos tiempos de mierda hay algun grupo de rock de este talento grandes los 60s 70s y 80s!

  • Memories, had the pleasure of seeing them about a week after the release of the album in San Bernardino, Ca. Ritchie just killed that night and with another great guitarist opening....Ronnie Montrose. Now as far as all these Yngwie comparisons PU-LEASE...last time I saw him live jeez. the over indulgence...riffing solos between every song just going off, hell he opened the show like that that by the 4th-5th tune nobody was diggin it but him and I'll leave it at that

  • this is absolutely f*u*c*k*i*n*g magic

  • Dio in terms of outstanding vocal ability in Rock and Metal was 'the man' I've seen anyone worth seeing and he was just in a different league to the other genuinely great singers. A true legend! Saw him with several times Black Sabbath, Dio and Heaven and Hell a little too young to see him with Bklacmore's Rainbow. Ronnie you're still the man! Pocket Dynamite blows everyone else away!

  • THE ONLY SINGER WHO DESERVES THE TITLE OF "LEGEND"

THE GREATEST VOICE MAN HAS EVER HEARD HAS BEEN SILENCED FOREVER

THE KING HAS DIED, THE REST WILL SADLY FOLLOW

YOUR DEATH FEELS LIKE SOME HORRIBLE NIGHTMARE

AS TIME PASSES YOU WILL ONLY BECOME MORE PRECIOUS AND LEGENDARY

YOUR PASSING IS SO UNREAL TO ME, ITS DRIVING ME LITERALLY INSANE

WHENEVER I SEE RAINBOWS I THINK OF YOU.

I STILL CRY AND WILL NEVER GET OVER THAT YOU ARE ACTUALLY GONE

MY HEART WILL BE FOREVER BROKEN

    R.I.P. My King.........

  • There are no words to compliment this - Rainbow at their best

  • Super!!! Thank you, Usima, it's really a classic! Great song! DIO 5 *****!!!!!

  • The Best!!!!

  • one of the best songs ever ... on musical history ... i love spain .... Race with de devil..... on a spanish highway ... DIO DIo Dio DIO ... and Cozy , cozy Cozy

  • awesome song but the quality sux!

  • Hey Cannibal666Corpse Thanks for the upload. Great music is always welcome. Now some Spanish, excuse me but Spanish is my mother tongue, which does not prevent me of enjoying Rainbow. Esta cancion es una obra maestra! Gracias por ponerla en you tube.

  • On 14th of March 2010, Dio's wife and manager Wendy posted an online update on his condition:

"It has been Ronnie's 7th chemo, another cat scan and another endoscopy, and the results are good - the main tumour has shrunk considerably, and our visits to Houston (cancer clinic in Texas) are now every three weeks instead of every two weeks."

  • Sleep with the Devil, the Devil will take you away. Great line

  • Comment removed

  • dio was rainbows best singer the band gradually got worse with each singer bonnet was a good singer but he left to form alcatrazz then they got gay boy joe lynn turner in the band and thats what i think put alot of people off the band and back to deep purple by the way blackmore no1 guitarist

  • I heard this song song 1st time over 30 years ago. I still love this song, this song is full of mysteries.

  • grandioso

    for ever and ever

  • These Blackmore/Dio songs had a really epic quality. Kinda filmic in theyre storytelling, real quality. Best wishes to Ronnie James Dio

  • Rainbow was great....no doubt...... but DP MKII was better.......timeless....

  • Excellent!!!! Absolutely, one of my favorite heavy metal songs! Its such a shame that so much modern heavy metal is so utterly negative and puerile...metal could become the most esteemed form of rock music, if only it could take more influence from bands like classic Rainbow, Rush, Judas Priest, and ELP, and mature past its rather childish satanic/zombie/anti-social infatuation of recent years.

Best wishes to Ronnie James Dio, may you live for many years!!!!!!!

  • Blackmore gave Dio his big break. Ever see what he was doing before this? Playing boogie woogie in high school gyms. Don't get me wrong. I like Dio. The best Rainbow was with Dio Singing. But Dio would have gone nowhere without Ritchie.

  • @jim543212 That's not entirely accurate. Granted, Blackmore was instrumental due to the success of Rainbow, but Dio's band Elf was opening for Deep Purple during the early 70's. Hardly a high school "boogie woogie" band at that point. Elf was fairly successful as a touring band and released like 3 albums. In fact the original Rainbow lineup consisted of at least 2 members of elf, including Dio, so I'd say that were it not for that talent Rainbow would not have been successful.

  • Honest assessment.. Athough Dio would've found his way to the top sooner or later...

  • wtf are you talking about???? it's the best combination, Dio and Blackmoore are gods

  • Dio ,Blackmore and Cozy Powel on drums

  • a bit average? what the hell are you talking about Blackmore's best time was in Rainbow. Listen to some guitar songs that focus on blackmore such as "Mistreated" how can you say rain was a bit average. Just because it didn't appeal to the ignorant masses doesn't mean it wasn't good. Blackmore sold out and went to deep purple for the money.

  • Sleep with the devil and then you must pay!

  • Of course he is an innovator - he played around with arabesque sounds in rock before anyone else even knew it existed

  • Blackmore, Dio & Powell THE most rocking combination in the Rainbow history!!

This is a PERFECT example of how good Rainbow was, i'd still would love to hear a comeback of this formation .... unfortunately Cozy Powell died in a tragic accident in '99 .... you're still one the greats Cozy!!!!!

  • RJD is Metal him and Halford along with the Sabs Created a whole genre, long live heavy metal music.

  • This should be taught in schools as how the universe came into existence. There was no "let there be light" or "big bang" Dio just opened his mouth and a force unmatched by everything created life and all we know and see around us.

  • And the winner for THE most truthful comment on this thread is...Chaospoet, lol XD

  • @chaospoet HELLYEAH!

  • @chaospoet truly epic!

  • the roots of heavy fuckin metal......

  • English comments, or portuguese, only.

Spanish or other languages will be deleted.

I did saw what you´ve wrote and erased afterwards LauryTHVirus. Comparing Rainbow with Mago de Oz is quite...naif.

Probably that´s why you have erased it...

  • "I did saw what you´ve wrote"?

You're the last person who should be criticizing someone on anything linguistic.

  • Good lineup

  • this is worlds away...

  • blackmore has always dabbled with arabesque sounds - too many songs to recall eg perfect strangers, ariel here and many others - he is an innovator not a follower - he and his music has always been greatly under valued - this i feel is the root cause of his desire to continuosly change band members

  • I wouldn't say that dabbling in exotic scales and modes in a rock context makes him an innovator, although I do think it's fucking cool.

  • I hear a lot of influence from rainbow in system of a down's songs even though they are armenian and you would expect a more eastern sound from them.

  • Don't forget the legend Bob Daisley on Bass as well... he deserves props

  • Yes, Daisley is a great bass player but on this track, Ritchie played the Bass ..

  • Great song from great guitarist, great singer and great drummer. Incomparable.

  • Our childrens music today cannot be compared to this! They are out-classed. Three kings on one stage...

    R.I.P. Cozy

  • True and wise words mate. Very true and wise.

  • @040895 I'm only 16, and this is my music. I hate modern rock.

  • @040895 yep,yep yep !!!!

  • Dio has an AWESOME voice

  • Oh god, dio, cozy, and blackmore together!!!

  • One of Dio's finest vocal performances on this song.

  • I have fallen in love with this song

  • Dio = LEGEND.

  • Listen to the old man: me hihi

this is Ronnie James Dio 100 Percent. I have this video too. It´s a bonus track of the DVD Rainbow live in Germany

  • Fanboy comments will be removed and the users blocked from this day forward.

    Enjoy the music.

    Cannibal Corpse has spoken.

  • men i'm from venezuela listeng mago de oz-en nombre de dios is exactli la this song sorry for my english

  • Dio rocks!!!!

and this sond is best ever

  • This song fucking rox, Dio is the best metal's vocalist ever & I have allways said that Malmsteen is God.

  • a couple of things:

    1) I am fairly certain that there is NO Dio/Malmsteen version in existence

    2) I am pretty sure this video is from Don Kirschner's Rock Concert, a television show. It is the studio recording, with a live vocal by Dio. They did 2 other songs in the same manner for the show (which I was happy to acquire a few years back): the rare "L.A. Connection" and "Long Live Rock 'n' Roll"

  • In that version the singer is not DIO! and Blacmores solo definitely isn't shit!Blacmores is better than yngwie malmsteen. When Malmsteen write something like gates of babylon than I'll say that malmsteen is better....

  • thegodswan, whit your post you show us that you dont have a clue about music!!!!!!!

  • You are mistaken the version Yngwie did on his 1996 Inspiration album with Jeff scott soto on vocals. Which later ended up on the two disc version of the Holy Dio tribute. Horrible Tribute album. Only two songs worth listening to are the Fates warning " Sign of the Southern Cross" and the Yngwie version of "gates of Babylon". before you go off saying Ritchies Version compared to Yngwie's version. First look where yngwie would be if it weren't for Uli Roth, and Blackmore.

  • Bullshit! The Blackmore solo is better arranged and is a important part of the composition, I am a big Malmsteen fan (see my nickname) but the original Blackmore version is miles more musical structured as the Malmsteen diddldydoo-thing...speed is not everything, Blackmore plays fast when he must for the song

  • I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU. yES Blackmore prooves his value with such solos, this is a great composition and shall be respected, even from Malmsteen himself who covered the song live with a another crazyfast solo...

  • @malmsteenfan I got to admit that Yngwie is great technically & let's face it he is blistering speed wise, but I go to agree with you. Speed isn't everything. Songs like Weiss Heim & Son of Alerik show how Blackmore doesn't need to use speed all the freaking time. Some of my fave songs are slower & more about the mood they create.

  • @malmsteenfan Malmsteen can play circles around Blackmore in his sleep! And yea i know Blackmore influenced him. But just speaking for me I'll take Yngwie any day over Ritchie...

  • @Peelick you can hear the technique but there is no soul in Malmsteens playing! it is just the cover.Richie is guitargod!

  • It´s playback show, but wondrefull crowd, excellent musicians...

  • 13th comment ^^

why aren't there any bands like this anymore?

  • There is a Mago de Oz (spanish band) song who is IDENTICAL to gates of babylon it's named "En el nombre de dios" (in the name of god)

Amazing song i first listened it thanks to Yngwie...

  • yngwie is like a classical violinist trying to understand a thing far beyond him called ROCK. lol... he proves technique is no where near as good as feel.

  • 5 STARS!!!

  • This song rules! Does it follow the harmonic minor scale?

  • It's harmonic minor over the V chord, for the most part. Definitely a big influence on guys like Yngwie.

  • wow cant believe u have this =] thx.

  • Hail dude

I also have Black Sabbath (oldies), plus Dio, Ozzy and some other stuff.

As soon as I get some patience, I can post some of them for you.

    Hasta

  • sick man, let me know... fuck it i'll subscribe.

  • he was brilliant. shame he's miming to the record here. Still by favourite blackmore solo. Shame he's gone completely 'Fruit-loops' not that he wasn't already.

  • U sure?...this doesnt sound like the studio version

  • He's right he's not singing that live.

  • Great song, fantastic guitar solo! Blackmore forever!!!
