There was nothing "terrible" or "bad" about TV/cinema in the 50s actually. It was the best effort available given what the folks you tried to emulate had at their disposal.

So, I'd say stop looking in the rearview mirror to find a direction forward.

Just tell us what you want to say through saying it, not apologizing for it. Be an artist. It's OK... you don't have to explain. Let your work speak, not you.

Thanks! It was indeed entertaining. Watching those old serials really showed how entertainment has changed. I think that was the whole idea.
