@NoktvrnalMortum If you ever hear him play pieces like Islamey, or the Schulz-Evler Arabesque on the Blue Danube Theme, you will know any decision regarding tempo is an interpretive decision rather than technical problem. Kuzmin may well be the most phenomenal pianist that no one has heard of.
Year: 1991. Country: Colombia (Bogota). Conductor: Carmen Moral. Orchestra: Bogota Philharmonic. Auditorium: Leon de Greiff. The piece was playing as an encore after the Grieg piano concerto.
Gracias por el dato de la fecha. Es curioso que antes de este encore Kuzmin haya tocado el concierto de Grieg pues, yo le vi tocar el mismo concierto en el presente año en el mismo auditorio y también con la misma orquesta...........
Wow, I haven't seen video of this played so effortlessly except from the master himself and Arcadi Volodos. Please share details (the conductor, year, country, etc.). Too bad the Kawai piano was badly voiced/tuned, as it was the only negative thing about the performance. Thanks!
This performance was in the "Leon de Greiff" auditorium in Bogota, colombia. I don't know when exactly was it but Maybe was before 1997, because then this piano was moved to other auditorium, by the way this Kawai always has been badly voiced/tuned, I don`t know why.............I agree with you that it is the only negative thing about the performance.
bravo maestro !

His recording of the Schubert Wanderer Fantasy is incredible! All in all, this Carmen version is also astonishing as well.
Obviously this was at least 20-25 years ago, as I think "puffy" shirts went out of style!

His piano lacks the "nasal" sound of Horowitz's. He's also not as talented as Horowitz was at 70.

I like how he speeds up at the end to compensate after not even coming close to Horowitz in the alternating chords.

The part at 3:11 should be played faster.
