Some people just don't understand the meaning of songs. They listen for anything but the message the song itself. Marina is a perfect example of incredible music that has been unheard! :/

Talent, amazing lyrics, real musical substance, noncomformity, etc.... Neither of them use sex to sell their music, they let the music speak for itself.
I'm American, and honestly I love it. But most people here are into the songs about sex and drugs. They have no music taste. This is music. I have to download her songs, not buy it. Which sucks.
Marina and the Diamonds are actually pretty known in Norway. We have used her music in a lot of commercals and often used as background music in stores, she has become very known here because of this.

I'm american, I love Marina, and I listen to all kinds of music. It's not that she's not popular in the U.S., Lots of people love her, it's just that she's not famous here like lady gaga. But that's a good thing, not many great musicians are super famous, but trust me people do listen to them. and when you say "Americans" you're talking about people from 50 different states, each one being the size of most countries. That's about 311,780,104 people, not all of them listen to her, but a lot do.
She's not famous in America because large corporations find it easier to sell a woman's sex appeal rather than sell them according to their actual musical talent.
There are many great female and male artists who you will never know about because large corporations decided they weren't "pretty" or "handsome" enough to sell. Or their music wasn't "mainstream" enough to appeal to the most people (thus generating more sales).
@danielmountain It's not even that. She's gorgeous. Americans just manage to swoop over any material in songs - she's too edgy, too controversial. But at least we can find the cool people easier this way.

It's such a shame that her excellent musical talent doesn't get quite the attention it deserves, most likely because she doesn't resort to having the image of a dirty and eccentric whore such as Lady Gaga, for instance. I'm not saying that Lady Gaga IS a dirty whore and all that, but rather that the image she has set is quite in that direction and unfortunately - people buy it. Still, Gaga has great songs as well, but when speaking of talent Marina crushes most people in the industry, imo.
@Marinas1stDiamond I noticed you're also a big follower of her music.. what do you think of some of her new songs? I brushed them off as incomplete leaks, but it seems some of her live performances played some of them like "Living Dead" and "Jealousy"... personally I wasn't very impressed. The chorus on Living dead is just awful I find, very repetitive and typical, and Jealousy seems just okay. The lyrics on both are also, "okay". I feel I can set them too apart from her current songs.
This is one of the most underrated songs, and I think this is the direction she should go in. It's one of the most unique on the album, and the lyrics are actually quite brilliant.
I really hope her next album outshines this one.... which would mean it would be like a 10/10 since i give this a 9/10 =P

@DUDEkenhasnodick In the beginning I did not care so much for that song, then it started to grow and grow on me, and now it's one of my favourites of the whole album. It's extremely meloudious (the tune varies a lot from high to low), original (not similar to any other pop song), entertaining, with a crazy and mysterious touch. The canon choir part from 2:32 is absolutely thrilling and beautiful !!! I just admire Marina, what a talent for song composing, she's sooo underrated!

@Piiratekid1 Most Americans do not want to "think" when they are entertained....this is why their TV is bland and trite, their comedy is only ever a punchline and their music is meaningless......anything that is provocative, deep, meaningful or requires thought will never be popular in the US. Don't get me wrong, I love my American family and friends, but they are always moving on to what comes next and never stopping to enjoy what is right before them now!

@switschmaker Yeah, that's true, but I just think Gaga and Katy are both much more racy and inappropriate than Marina. She doesn't have to dance really provocatively or take off her clothes to get notoriety. Which I really respect.

@DUDEkenhasnodick In the beginning I did not care so much for that song, then it started to grow and grow on me, and now it's one of my favourites of the whole album. It's extremely meloudious (the tune varies a lot from high to low), original (not similar to any other pop song), entertaining, with a crazy and mysterious touch. The canon choir part from 2:32 is absolutely thrilling and beautiful !!! I just admire Marina, what a talent for song composing, she's sooo underrated!

considering how much i like her stuff now, when she doesn't know who ACDC is, i expect to love it when she actually starts listening to music.
or at least that's what i tell myself. i actually do love this; i'm just insulted by her being a musician when she's always talking about how little she listens to others' music in interviews.
