  • Are either of the pickups too bright, the Dimarzios? With distortion will the low end on the bridge stay tight, high end not get ice picky and it there enough girth to the sound where you feel bass? -PK

  • Now all you need is a new fat u-shaped neck for that skinny-necked son of a bitch.

  • I FINALLY GOT A TWANG SOUND out of my Squier Strat and its really good

  • Blasting the twang of your tele out loud

  • Twang it! *hums beginning twang* i wanna change the bridge pickup to a twang king in my squire strat. and get a amp with reverb and start twanging

  • MASTER!

  • OMG LOVE this pup! i want them to put in my strat! I LOVE Twang king pups!

  • Yes You Do!!!! (in response to you closing statement)

  • That tele has a great combined pickup sound -- very gulpy. It reminds me of a Gibson in the middle position.

  • Good playing and nice twang! Can you tell me the song you were playing in the beginning of this clip? Thanks,

  • Really nice playing man, I enjoyed that a lot. I've never been fond of dimarzios but I think you might have just changed my mind. That's the exact sound I think of when I think, "Tele Twang."

  • Astonishing playing by the way!!! You really have the feeling for it!!!

  • What do you think of Dimarzio Area T's??? Are they better or worse for twang in your opinion?

  • Incredible playing.

    Great sound.

  • ive been looking into this all day and this video finally answered my question on squier cv pickup uprades :)

  • nice.

  • HOLY SHIT teach me to play like you

  • is the neck also the twang king? I think I'll get these two pups for my tele soon!

  • HAHAHA GOD TWANG I VERY LIKE IT !

  • did you change the wiring and pots??

(im considering whether or not to change my stock pickups on my squier strat)

  • Thats some good spankin the plank!!!

  • oh my goodness.. i have that exact guitar and i GOT to get those pickups now! Any idea where I can get a set for a good price?

  • got twang!!!

  • man, with the bit of slapback, thats the tone right there, sounds just like the originals

  • where are the volumes and gains set at on that vox?

  • Please show the "Tone King" what real tone is supposed to sound like with a vid response of this. His Classic vibe video is turning people off. You are much more worthy of the title (not to forget - tasteful playing as well)Thanks!

  • Amen!

  • The bridge seems to give you twang and then easily handle distortion as well. You sold me on the guitar AND the DiMarzio pickup.

  • You should buy the neck pickup too. It's even better than the bridge one! One of the best Tele neck pickups I've ever heard.

  • Great Tone!

  • great picken i am getting one! what kind of echo you using??????/

  • great playing man. keep it up

  • 24 000 views and no comments?! wtf !

    Nice sound !

  • what kind of wiring does it have?

  • What kind of strings you got on that sucka?

  • Rotosound 10-52s.

  • great guitar ;)

  • Great Playing man, you totaly rock!!! that sound is sick, just love it!!!

    greetings from Chile

  • HOLY CRAP!!! 50s slap back to HEAVY BLUES ROCK!! LOVE IT!!!! you are a GREAT player man! great demo! i think im gonna get this PU for my dad for christmas, hes got a squier tele that hes had for about 25 years and i want to get him playing more. this may just do the trick!

    great playing again man!

  • nice slapback. i love your style man.

  • Great playing. Nice PUP.

  • Thanks for posting. I'm about to buy the a set of twang kings for my s101 tele copy.

  • I played the 50's classic vibe strat and one of the classic vibe teles in white, and i have to say that i preferred the power of the strat over the tele. The tele pups where a little duller than the strats alcino 3's

but i usually jam out on my dads mexi fender tele. ive also got a parts strat and a squier 51, but his tele is better.

  • for some unknown reason, squier tele quality always beats their strats, i personally have only played a few squier tele's but quiet alot of squier strats ( yes they are in the same series) and even sound wise u can tell the quality of the instrument just by hearing it and seeing it

  • totally agree.. im actually very impressed with the squier tele standard series. granted, it sounds a tad darker probably because of the rosewood board. But when it comes down to an overall quality piece.. hands down wins over squier strats. And i own 2 strats myself..

  • right on, dude. i suppose the reason the squier strat is lower in quality is probably because squier targets young clueless kids who are probaly gonna play for a few months or so and then quit. these kids i guess seem to like the generic look of strats and also the fact that it's the most used guitar etc.. basically they dig starts coz of their generic and ease of playing. so obviously squier has to make more and that means cheaper materials and cheaper magnets.

  • Hello matey, great sound you've got there,

i'm looking to mod my squier vintage modified tele SH, and i'm having a nightmare researching pickups (something i dont really know anything about !!!) i play in a covers band, and an originals band, i need pickups that cover a really wide range of sounds, everything from the kinks, to billy idol, to the 'foo's, to the specials, have you got any pointers??? please let me know, cause i'm fookin stumped!!! cheers x

  • are your amp settings the same here with the twang king as they are in your video with the guitar's stock pups? sounds awesome btw!!! you've got mad chops!

  • Thanks! The amp settings are about the same, but in this video I use a VOX Big Ben Overdrive, in the other I use a Marshall Guv'nor.

  • :-)

  • what pots do you use?

    capacitor?

have you tried other tele bridge pick ups?

    thanks nice playing

    cheers

  • nice playing. i tried one of these guitars at my local shop the other day and all i can say is they kick ass lol

  • i would not believe its a squier if u i just heard it. hey can you do a tutorial or just of u playing that lick starting a 0:18- 0:24. thats a hot lick. nice sounds

  • can u tell me something...thats the vintage blonde colour ?

  • Yes, see thru blonde. Very nice!

  • Thanks for the info.Makes a lot of sense.Cheers

  • Those Twang Kings sound great for Hot Country but you know what ,when you compare with your earlier vid.,I prefer the sound of the original p/u's for blues and/or rock. What do reckon?

  • The stock pups are duller and more midrangey than Twang Kings so they suit overdrive sounds just great. These Twang Kings add a bit high end sparkle and some nice low end growl. I used a Marshall Guvnor distortion pedal on the first vid. That's a VOX Big Ben Overdrive on this one.

  • I see the two amazing guitars I would just love to have. I already own the Classic '50 tele, but want the Firebird very badly. They just look so cool together, this tele and the Firebird.

  • Great video,

I heard that the stock bridge pickup was better than the neck one. I'm thinking about buying a CV tele. So, what do you think about changing only the neck pickup by a DiMarzio Twang King ?

  • I like both original pickups, the neck pup is better IMO. They just lack the high end clarity of a great Tele pickup. The Twang Kings are a major upgrade to this guitar. It sounds so much better now that I have both pickups replaced with Twang Kings.

  • Thanks !

  • What do you mean? The stock neck pickup is a single coil pickup...

  • if this vid didnt say squier in the title, i wouldve thought it was a MIA fender lol

  • Great stuff,I used to use a Les Paul and a

Marshall that I still have and love, but now I use a Tele' and a fender amp!

  • Are you using a pedal for that reverb or is that just the Vox talking?

  • That's a Line6 delay modeller. VOX has a decent reverb.

  • Ah, I see. Thanks! Great tone; Rockabilly to the bone.

  • Great clip!

I have a question if you dont mind. i know Listening to it through the PC and playing to it is different, so could you tell me what exactly you find better in these pickups compared to the stock ones. I am still deciding if I should change them.

  • They are twangier and brighter than the stock ones. They also have sweeter and stronger bottom strings sound. I like my Tele pickups on the brighter side, vintage 50's and 60's twang!

  • yeeaahhh... nice sonund.. keep on rocking!

  • Wow! I was planning on getting a Fender 50s tele, but this video has changed my mind to go for this one instead. It's a lot cheaper and it sounds good enough to me.

  • The 50's Classic is still a better guitar. More like a real vintage Tele. This Classic Vibe looks good and sounds good but it doesn't play like a vintage Tele, which I prefer.

  • Hienon kuulosta!!

  • Kiitos! Hyvä on halpiskeppikin.

  • Good as a cheap stick?

  • now that;s what i call takin it for a drive , somone tonkin out a chunka chunka , which is what teles are for !

  • what vox is that ?

  • AC30 CC2x, blue alnico speakers. Yummy.

  • niice yh i got the vox ad50vt it gives out alot of power :D

  • You made it sing!

    Cheers dude

  • WOW

  • lets not forget the vox hes playing through helping get that sound

  • It wouldn't matter if he were playing out of a vox or not, the Squier Classic Vibes are JUST that good.

  • That kind tone out of a squier??!

  • Well with such an amp ! It almost seams normal ^^

  • please man, could you tell me what was that first thing you played?

  • Just some basic rockabilly picking. Noodling with that late 50's sound & style.

  • You play great bud, enjoyed your vid very much!

  • Squier guitars are underrated. I have one of these and a '51 and they both look and sound great.

  • sounds awesome!

  • awesome tone keep it up

  • Damn that's a killer tone... sexy tele.

  • sounds delicious!!! Great playing man

  • daaammnnnnnn squier? you sure? lol sounds reeeaallll nice man i'm ordering one now

  • Dang that sounds good. I want one of those Teles bad.

  • I've got a set of Twang Kings in my USACG Mahogany Tele. They're fantastic. Talk about about an under-rated pickup!

  • Great playing! After hearing this I think I might have to drop in the Dimarzio. I gotta say these new classic vibes sound and feel as good if not better than the mexican classic 50's guitars. At $299 it's a steal and you can always mod them later.

  • Tahtoo tollasen :))!!

  • gotta love that twang. my classic vibe is going to get one of those.
