Are either of the pickups too bright, the Dimarzios? With distortion will the low end on the bridge stay tight, high end not get ice picky and it there enough girth to the sound where you feel bass? -PK
Really nice playing man, I enjoyed that a lot. I've never been fond of dimarzios but I think you might have just changed my mind. That's the exact sound I think of when I think, "Tele Twang."
Please show the "Tone King" what real tone is supposed to sound like with a vid response of this. His Classic vibe video is turning people off. You are much more worthy of the title (not to forget - tasteful playing as well)Thanks!
HOLY CRAP!!! 50s slap back to HEAVY BLUES ROCK!! LOVE IT!!!! you are a GREAT player man! great demo! i think im gonna get this PU for my dad for christmas, hes got a squier tele that hes had for about 25 years and i want to get him playing more. this may just do the trick!
I played the 50's classic vibe strat and one of the classic vibe teles in white, and i have to say that i preferred the power of the strat over the tele. The tele pups where a little duller than the strats alcino 3's
but i usually jam out on my dads mexi fender tele. ive also got a parts strat and a squier 51, but his tele is better.
for some unknown reason, squier tele quality always beats their strats, i personally have only played a few squier tele's but quiet alot of squier strats ( yes they are in the same series) and even sound wise u can tell the quality of the instrument just by hearing it and seeing it
totally agree.. im actually very impressed with the squier tele standard series. granted, it sounds a tad darker probably because of the rosewood board. But when it comes down to an overall quality piece.. hands down wins over squier strats. And i own 2 strats myself..
right on, dude. i suppose the reason the squier strat is lower in quality is probably because squier targets young clueless kids who are probaly gonna play for a few months or so and then quit. these kids i guess seem to like the generic look of strats and also the fact that it's the most used guitar etc.. basically they dig starts coz of their generic and ease of playing. so obviously squier has to make more and that means cheaper materials and cheaper magnets.
i'm looking to mod my squier vintage modified tele SH, and i'm having a nightmare researching pickups (something i dont really know anything about !!!) i play in a covers band, and an originals band, i need pickups that cover a really wide range of sounds, everything from the kinks, to billy idol, to the 'foo's, to the specials, have you got any pointers??? please let me know, cause i'm fookin stumped!!! cheers x
are your amp settings the same here with the twang king as they are in your video with the guitar's stock pups? sounds awesome btw!!! you've got mad chops!
i would not believe its a squier if u i just heard it. hey can you do a tutorial or just of u playing that lick starting a 0:18- 0:24. thats a hot lick. nice sounds
Those Twang Kings sound great for Hot Country but you know what ,when you compare with your earlier vid.,I prefer the sound of the original p/u's for blues and/or rock. What do reckon?
The stock pups are duller and more midrangey than Twang Kings so they suit overdrive sounds just great. These Twang Kings add a bit high end sparkle and some nice low end growl. I used a Marshall Guvnor distortion pedal on the first vid. That's a VOX Big Ben Overdrive on this one.
I see the two amazing guitars I would just love to have. I already own the Classic '50 tele, but want the Firebird very badly. They just look so cool together, this tele and the Firebird.
I heard that the stock bridge pickup was better than the neck one. I'm thinking about buying a CV tele. So, what do you think about changing only the neck pickup by a DiMarzio Twang King ?
I like both original pickups, the neck pup is better IMO. They just lack the high end clarity of a great Tele pickup. The Twang Kings are a major upgrade to this guitar. It sounds so much better now that I have both pickups replaced with Twang Kings.
I have a question if you dont mind. i know Listening to it through the PC and playing to it is different, so could you tell me what exactly you find better in these pickups compared to the stock ones. I am still deciding if I should change them.
They are twangier and brighter than the stock ones. They also have sweeter and stronger bottom strings sound. I like my Tele pickups on the brighter side, vintage 50's and 60's twang!
Wow! I was planning on getting a Fender 50s tele, but this video has changed my mind to go for this one instead. It's a lot cheaper and it sounds good enough to me.
The 50's Classic is still a better guitar. More like a real vintage Tele. This Classic Vibe looks good and sounds good but it doesn't play like a vintage Tele, which I prefer.
Great playing! After hearing this I think I might have to drop in the Dimarzio. I gotta say these new classic vibes sound and feel as good if not better than the mexican classic 50's guitars. At $299 it's a steal and you can always mod them later.

That tele has a great combined pickup sound -- very gulpy. It reminds me of a Gibson in the middle position.

The bridge seems to give you twang and then easily handle distortion as well. You sold me on the guitar AND the DiMarzio pickup.

You should buy the neck pickup too. It's even better than the bridge one! One of the best Tele neck pickups I've ever heard.
