I have this GPS and it is TERRIBLE to charge from USB. The screen is constantly lit and it doesn't tell you how much charge it has when it's charging. This thing was probably designed by baboons.

I have a similar Garmin device. It uses a full size SD card to take advantage of the slideshow feature that displays photo images. Don't fool yourself into believing that this navigator has enough internal memory to hold photos along with massive map info. I recommernd purchasing the unlimited lifetime (of the device) updates plan. Individually purchased map updates are close to $100. Drop $150 at the initial purchase and cover your bases. Update it every month and you'll be good to go.

I read all the reviews and it seems most people like this 255W so i purchased and out of the box was fine BUT THEN I decided to upload Garmin maps 2010 Europe this is a MISTAKE as now the GPS WILL NOT FIIND a Satalite signal

Garmin is in Kansas, so its default is Kansas until it find your location.

Does the Nüvi 255 realy have the text-to-speech function? I have got the German version of the nüvi (with maps of 40 european countries). The German voice does not speak street names.
