@Bonneville462 The thing is, it's after you leave Pittsburgh that you realize how unique the city is. You know if you're from Pittsburgh if....... The accent is REAL. The little quirks are too. Where I live now, I can pick out a Pittsburgh accent immediately, even if they don't say "Yinz". Mike ditka, Dan Marino and Bill Cowher have strong "Burgh" accents.
I swear this guy was the father of every girl I ever dated in high school. "Where yinz goin' tahnight? Well don't need be gettin' in too late. Remember wurr gettin' up early tah go see Grandmaw tomorrow..."
OMG, this is like seeing my father-in-law come back to life. I had no idea it was a Western PA thing I just thought it was HIS thing to be so contrary. So funny. He was from Saint Mary's, PA.
I just had my first Thanksgiving away from my family - living in Germany right now, but from Pittsburgh - and I have to tell you guys I love this series! It reminds me of home and comforts me when I'm feeling homesick! Please keep up the great work - I look forward to new videos!
The yearly Apres-Thanksgiving tussle: "Why ya wanna go t' Kresge n' Zayre? K, I know it's so's d'kids can see Santy, but all dey git is kellerin books, crans,an' a sucker! K, I'll go witcha, but howzabout we go t' Eat-n- Pawk afta n'treat da kids?" BTW: is that Panettone bread in the vid? It was a holiday staple in my Italian family! Our everyday bread was Keystone Italian or Old-Tyme bread, and Schwebel pannetorno (from Youngstown)! It's true; when you leave WPA, you leave so much behind!
