Negative frequency is like positive frequency except in reverse direction on the x. Additionally, being a sine wave, the wave will hit -1 first when the frequency is negative (as opposed to hitting 1 first when positive). So, both waves would be oscillating from 1 to -1 in terms of amplitude (y) but would travel in two different directions on the x. This will make more sense when I get to using [tabread4~] for sampling where you'll see how negative frequency is used to reverse a sound.

How come when you dragged the number atom for 'modulator freq' into the negative numbers it still worked fine. How does it receive negative frequency?

It's the same frequency it just inverts the phase.
