@MadCobraProductions SY85 is a really good board, but I think the piano sound you're thinking of from the 90's dance tunes was from the Korg M3. Although, I'm sure the SY85 got used a bunch too.
I remember the SY85 had some of the best orchestra hits... Good stuff.
@MadCobraProductions First I've heard. I have an SY85 myself. It might be the piano sound on Moby - Hymn. He actually lists the SY85 in his equipment list on the excellent "Everything Is Wrong" album.
A brilliant synth, with the option of loading LOADS of samples too! The main dance piano was the Korg M1, but this demo is great. Could do with being a higher sample rate maybe?
@gimmietheprize I've got an SY85. I think the sounds lack warmth overall to be honest, though I had fun with it's built in sequencer before I got a PC! I put some SIMM memory in mine, so I can load samples in, but that is volatile memory so I have to load them off floppy disks every time! (I gather that their official memory upgrade was non-volatile.)
This track is full of Compression!! We cant hear the real thing...

Amazing deep sound, I'm waiting for my tg-500 :)
Great job, that demo really presents whole potential of sy-85/tg-500 !

@perrysafer * EDIT* ... I should of read down a bit... I was confused on my M series from Korg.. Yeah, It was the M1 piano, not M3.
Foggy memory.

Yeah this is my keyboard. I know it like the back of my hand. This is what I used to do gigs in the nineties. Our band used two of these.
