@mechakinggidora Disease rabbits get. It causes tumors, especially around the eye area which leads to blindness - which is what this song is about; those people who use you while you remain completely blind to it happening until it's too late.
Deer God I can't describe my feelings for this song,i'm so obsessed with it,it gives me a feeling only it can give me.....love?? i hope i meet a girl like this
but my favourites are Knives Out, Where I End and you Begin, Myxomatosis, 2+2=5, Airbag, The Tourist, Optimistic, Planet Telex, Everything in its Right Place, and Jigsaw Falling Into Place
@muukalainenn His song about Myxomatosis (Bright Eyes, I think it's from the animated version of Watership Down) is no longer the best song about Myxomatosis. I probably should have said heartbroken.
@gpenn2 I like your choices but it is extremely difficult to agree 100% because Radiohead have plenty of beautiful songs! My current (!) top 10 is 10. National Anthem 9. Creep 8. Karma Police 7. 15 steps 6.Codex, 5. Exit Music for a Film, 4. Pyramid song, 3. Myxomatosis, 2. All I need, 1. Where I end and you begin!
@anoceanofgoodmusic90 I can't make difference between Radiohead's songs. The best song is what i'm actually listening to. DISCOGRAPHY INDA PLAYER, WHOLE DAY RADIOHEAD.
I personally prefer Radiohead over Muse. Doesn't mean that Radiohead is BETTER than Muse though.
Anyway, why are we even comparing Muse and Radiohead? I fail to see the connection other than they're both rock bands...and by rock bands I mean they both come under the same lose genre.
I think the key to Radiohead being superior (in my opinion) is how several bands seem to be influenced by only one aspect of their sound. The most blatant examples being Coldplay and Muse, and they are only watered down versions. I like them, but I'll take Radiohead over them any day for the quality, depth, and diversity of sound.
you are all elitists, you think you are better than everybody only because you like radiohead, and it has nothing to do with that, you are not better than anyone just because they enjoy david guetta or justin biever and you prefer radiohead. the less different types of music you want to listen, the worst for you... and i'm a big radiohead and muse fan =D
@shallowprick no, but just remember, the song came after, and still, MUSE did not copy this song, and it's not worse than this song, it's another category... (that was to the other idiots, not you)
any ways... how the hell is this song similar to the SMBH?? if one tryed to do a smashup of them, one would probably have a hard time.
myxo and supermassive cannot be compared. myxo is dark and strange and artful. supermassive is spacey and unsettling and catchy. they are both good songs by good bands.
Because Muse were influenced by Radiohead big time! They have many songs to show it, I can name about five off my head. They have always been a radiohead knock off band. Muse is good in its on way, but Radiohead is simply better. Compare this song with Supermassive Black Hole and you'll see.
@comeh123 You havn't listened to much Muse because they use quite a lot of key changes and chromaticism. It is easy to see that Radiohead are a significant influence on the music of Muse, but they are quite distinct and Muse definitely havn't copied or stolen any of Radiohead's material.
'buried in a burning black hole in Devon', thats the only line that doesn't seem to make any sense, but it's a good line, good song too, good album too.
This song is so good. This whole album is so underrated. I actually like it... prepare yourselves... better than every album except The King of Limbs. I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW that's crazy. But man there's just something about this album; it hits hard and it's really really got a lot of musical maturity and tact. It's a bit long, sure, but I love every song and some, like this or A Wolf at the Door or A Punchup are spectacular. The first half is awesome grooves, the back half is powerful force
I love this song, but I'm doing a research paper on myxomatosis and this kept popping up in the search results. It's freaking annoying! Lol, this song is sooo great, though!

@TheJimboWales I just can't see any similarities between Muse and Radiohead. Sorry. Maybe in Showbiz, but for me they are completely different bands. Both good though. Everyone who's debating Radiohead and Muse, shut the fuck up right now. You have no place listening to either, morons. The two are quite different: Radiohead is more experimental, while Muse is more of a hard rock band that draws on a huge variety of influences. Showbiz had similarities to The Bends, but Origin was something different entirely.
Personally, I love Radiohead (except Kid A and Amnesiac... pretentious horse shit), but I prefer Muse. Muse is also WAY better live.
@Dannielaw Well myxamatosis is a viral disease that affects only rabbits, so I'm assuming he's speaking from the first person perspective of a rabbit in this song lol... sounds weird, but maybe it's a rabbit dying in it's hole, burning up because it has a fever..
@Dannielaw It means Radiohead are ripping off Muse's Supermassive Black Hole. Just look at these lyrics to Myxomatosis: ''i sat in the cupboard and wrote it down in neat they were cheering and waving cheering and waving twitching and salivating like with myxomatosis but it got edited fucked up strangled, beaten up used as a photo in Time magazine buried in a burning black hole in Devon'' Radiohead basically admits that Muse is the best band of all time and that Radiohead wishes they were Muse
@jibblychupos Myxomatosis was made before this song idiot.. It's from Radiohead's 6th album "Hail to The Theif" made in 2003. And "Supermassive Black Hole" was made in in 2006. Again I say, Muse and Radiohead are my two favorite bands. So before you go trash talk Radiohead some more, remember this fact. Muse has copied Radiohead for 6 years starting with "Showbiz" and ending with "Black Holes and Revelations" They're become more original with "Resistance". So go fuck yourself.
This is probably the most real, most intricate, best song on this album! You just do not hear this anywhere else. The rhythm, the beat, the lyrics, and the realness of this song.
Myxomatosis represents a disease to rabbits back in like the 1890s - 1910s, South America. Thumbs up for this!

Muse is also WAY better live.

what does that "buried in a burning black hole in Devon" mean
Dannielaw 1 year ago
@Dannielaw Well myxamatosis is a viral disease that affects only rabbits, so I'm assuming he's speaking from the first person perspective of a rabbit in this song lol... sounds weird, but maybe it's a rabbit dying in it's hole, burning up because it has a fever..
I'm as confuzzled as you :S
