  • Just save for a Macbook Pro. I'm saving for a 17 inch i7 MacBook Pro inorder for me to be work flawlessly with the Final Cut Studio and Pro Tools LE 8. Just go all the way man !

  • Does anyone know if the macbook pro 2010 can run final cut studio 3?

  • @XxSerisierxX According to Apple's website, these are the system requirements for Final Cut Studio: Mac computer with an Intel processor

1GB of RAM (2GB of RAM recommended when working with compressed HD and uncompressed SD sources; 4GB of RAM recommended when working with uncompressed HD sources)

ATI or NVIDIA graphics processor (integrated Intel graphics processors not supported)

    128MB of VRAM

Display with 1280-by-800 resolution or higher

Mac OS X v10.5.6 or later

    QuickTime 7.6 or later

  • watch my video on how to do it.

  • I know nothing about graphics cards or any of that stuff so my question is this:

If I get the new Macbook Pro 13", will Final Cut Studio run on it still? If so, how well will it run?

  • im getting final cut pro on my macbook today!

  • will my 2.4ghz macbook work with every application including motion and color

  • yeah, my macbook with the geforce 9400m can edit on fcs :D

  • @seansfilms Which verison of final cut. i have the same grafics card and it doesnt work

  • @rubobi123 i used fcs 2

  • @seansfilms today i got final cut pro 4.5 and it doesnt even work and have the latest macbook

  • im not sure about fcp 4.5

  • I'm looking into getting a 13" macbook pro. Does anyone know how well this computer would run multiple programs at once? Or how many programs can be installed on it, such as Final Cut Pro, Flash, Photoshop, etc.?

  • The new MacBook pro line is sufficient for most apps (programs) including professional ones like Final Cut Pro, Logic, Aperture, Adobe Flash, PhotoShop, Dreamweaver. Since it has the NVidia 9400m graphics, it's a huge difference from integrated Intel graphics. the 9400m is still an integrated graphics chip, but it performs like a dedicated graphics, and blows the Intel graphics out of the water. I have the Intel Macbook (black) ,and it suits my needs. It's really fast for everything i do.

  • i have an aluminuim macbook 2.0ghz with 4gb ram

    its works like charm

  • Cool! So the 9400m handles it pretty well?

  • well it dont lag or anything but i just dont know how to use it.

  • ok that's cool though

  • Btw, what are you going to be using Final Cut Studio for? Sorry it's a bit tooooo late for that, but just curious.

  • well I was planning to use Final Cut Studio to

make some videos, and upload them here. I think I can do fine with imovie. I like apple products ,but I think they overcharge too much.

  • I see, that's great, well can't wait to see if u are planning to put a cool new video here on Youtube with it, btw, Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year as well. ^_^

  • can adobe premiere pro be installed on a mac? if so thats an option.

  • Now it works on the MacBook apple rep said so.

I use Final Cut Studio 2 and Shake one the 144MB shared video ram Intel Graphics card. Motion 3 quits sometimes or doing a lot of graphics intensive processes. I have also used the same apps on the 64MB graphics card model.

  • yeah i now what you mean final cut studio is a pro application and for that you are going to get a mac pro mac book pro or imac i now what you mean im sorry you are short on money everybody is short on money the aconomy is very bad but final cut express will work on a mac book good luck

  • Thank you for your concern. I wish could afford it, but as I can't I have to make use with what I have. I love my MacBook a lot , and I think the old models look better than the new

ones. But what I like about the new macbooks are :

    .Thinner and lighter than before.

2.Faster Integrated Graphics card (GeForce 9400 M : is a integrated graphics card not discrete).

3.Enviromental friendly (recyclable parts, mercury free led,

    arsenic free glass.

4.backlit keyboard, and DDR3 RAM. Anyways, thanks.

  • I got a macbook, but biught an Imac with 4gb mem, 500gb H/D, 2.66ghz, runs much better and you can get more workdone alot faster.

  • i have a macbook 2.2 ghz with 4 gb ram and final cut express works like a charm, so does final cut pro, motion cant really handle 3d but otherwise its not 2 bad, rendering takes a while, realtime rendering is very choppy, but otherwise works fine.Color doesnt run at all most of the time, and when it does, i cant do shit.dvd studio works ok,livetype works like a charm, soundtrack is totaly fine, so if u dont need color and u only need motion for effects that FCP doesnt have than go for it, its fine

  • I got a Macbook Pro for a trip to the New York Film Academy and it works very well with Final cut studio 2. It has 2.6 gHs and 3 gig of ram and 200 gog hard drive. It runs very smoothly. For 2 grand, it is a wonderful machine

  • I have already purchased a 2.2GHz black macbook with 1 GB of ram, so I am happy with it. It may not be the recent 2.4 GHz (penryn) models , but that doesn't bother me anymore. Also I read that Apple will be unveiling redesigned macbooks with aluminum enclosure. Similar to the macbook air,but with an optical drive. Anyways, I will use iMovie as of now . Congrats on your new MacBook Pro. BTW Apple is also redesigning the MacBook Pros. Wait and see this September 9th.

  • I know. I can't wait for the new ones. I just want to see the differences

  • Looks the new macbooks will be unveiled on mid-October, according to what appleinsider says. I like the new iPods though.

  • I like the new iPods too but honestly, Apple is showing off with the shake and shuffle. I think it's a really dumb idea. However, the genious playlist is awsome

  • MACBOOK PRO SUCKS BUY A MACBOOK & UPGRADE TO 4 GIG

    VOILA!

    macbook pro is OVER RATED!

  • it works very good i would actully recamend it more than a mac book pro

  • Yes you can its perfect i have a 2.2 ghz and runing it fine with a 4GB i recommend to max your ram thou

  • I have a 2.2Ghz Santa Rosa Chipset Macbook with 1Gb of ram running Final Cut Studio with no problems at all. Didn't have to modify anything, just installed it and it works. Motion, and Color a pretty heavy apps that would run alot better on a Mac with a dedicated graphics but unless your doing real heavy stuff you shouldnt need it. In Final Cut Pro while doing multicam editing I recieve out of memory errors but I have found a work around for that just check out Limitless-Studios . com for it.

  • i have a 2.2 ghz macbook that came with 1gb of ram. I bought 4gb of ram from newegg for $100. I installed final cut studio on it and it runs without a hitch. Sometimes Motion can fail to show all the graphics if you're working on something real intensive, but if you know what you're doing in motion, you can easily work around it. You can always just restart the app. I haven't used much of color, but out of all the programs, if anyone of them gave any problems, that's probably the most intensive.

  • Thank you for sharing your experience with us !

  • Final Cut doesnt work on macbooks because it has integrated graphics and Final Cut, Motion, and Color ARE Heavy Graphics whores. Get Final Cut Express it will run PERFECTLY on a Macbook, as long as you have 2Gb of RAM.

  • i got final cut express to work on an intel imac. i had to change a script in the package contents. it actually works.

  • WOW! That is very interesting. So you can actually modify the script , so that it could run at lower resolutions?

  • Doesn't work anymore.. it might have worked before on the older version, but even with FCP 5.1 on my brand new Macbook (not pro) FCP will not run. I've Cloned the system from a Mac Pro but you get this error message

    *****

This software requires certain hardware or software which is missing.

    • Quartz Extreme Support.

    *****

so there you go. You need a Mac Pro. (won't work on INTEL INTEGRATED GRAPHICS)

  • From MacBook tech specs page:

Intel GMA X3100 graphics processor with 144MB of DDR2 SDRAM shared with main memory3

Extended desktop and video mirroring: simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 1920 by 1200 pixels on an external display, both at millions of colours

  • thanks for the info.

  • why dont you just exchange it for the new one, they do that no? It's better, less heat with those new chips. I also want to buy one but the thing that it does not support Motion and Color is making me nervous.. especially Color because thats what i am interested in since i want to be color correcting picture to specific looks.

  • I've already tried it. It didn't work for me , since I didn't purchase mine from an apple store or the online store. They they were not responsible for the inventory in the store I bought from. and the retailer weren't refreshing their inventory until this month , so I asked them to exchange mine to a black macbook 2.2 ghz santa rosa and they did! they even gave me 50 dollars back.

  • you can indeed run final cut studio 2 on a macbook, but the applications "motion" and "color" will run very very slowly and because the 13inch monitor doenst meet the resolution preferences, some buttons and texts can overlay...so its pretty annyoing.

if you want a laptop and want to run final cut studio 2 on it, you should get yourself a macbook pro.

  • OK thanks. I wish I could buy a MacBook Pro , but I'm on a budget. Once again thanks, I've been waiting for someone to comment on this video. Another question: What about the other features of Final Cut Studio? Do they work correctly?

  • yes, its only Color and Motion which dont work properly because you need powerful video cards for those.

  • OK ,thanks for the quick response.

  • what if you get a HD cinema display would it look better im gettin a newer macbook

  • i`m not sure but i think the video card just doesnt support bigger resolution so it doesnt matter what screen you use.. i might be mistaken tho...

  • Yeah I'm pretty sure it is the MacBook's video card, it only allows for a maximum resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. btw I already bought my MacBook , but it's not the 2.4 ghz Penryn , and the funny thing is I actually bought it the same day the new 2.4 ghz models came out :/
