  • what about the car interior heating during the winter time . nobody say anything about this thing. you have to use a sirocol-webasto, just to warm up the car interior, wich run on petrol or diesel finaly

  • @DLI77

I will be the first to admit that the heat isn't very good. I mostly use the car for short trips where a gasoline engine wouldn't be warmed up anyways. I have also experimented with an oil-filled electric radiator heater, which runs off wall power on a timer. I set it to pre-heat the car, so that when I am ready to go in the morning, it is already warmed-up!

  • i looked at your instructables and i must say great job , i may be doing a project like this , but i have no idea what kind of a car , i was maybe even thinking about a small light truck

  • that's some spielberg shit right there! ok maybe I got carried away : )

but not bad. what's the music?

and what kind of current have you had it up to? and what's the top speed you have gone?

  • The music is by THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS.

The car is running a 500 amp controller and I have run it at anything between 72 and 144 volts. I have most recently been running at 108V, because that's the highest the one charger goes to.

  • yes but how fast have you gone? and have you accelerated hard? this video is more like driving miss daisy and not exactly a stress test. drag it. spin the wheels. see if the controller is robust

  • how much cost the battery pack to replace, and is it toxic waste, or biodegradable waste such as the battery fluid...?

  • lead acid's (like the ones in this EV) are recyclable, not sure about the electrolyte, but definately the lead and plastic. A pack like this one probably ran about 1200 bucks ? something like that.

  • edit: a brand new set of batteries would be around that, these are used and salvaged (FTW!)

nice job. for a 20mi range!

  • good thx

  • Hey Ben, I am converting a 98 Metro, It looks like yours. I'm about to order one of paul's controlers, Not sure what motor, I was thinking about the D&D ES-15-6? I should be posting some videos soon.

  • Cool! Keep us all up to date on your project!

  • That is some seriously awesome filming! You cannot teach that! PURE INSTINCT!!!

  • I like the song. :)

  • What song is this? Who is in this band? I've never herd it before!

  • a new song by "they might be giants"

  • awsome vids & geo!, how many miles do you get per charge?

  • It goes about 20 miles on a charge on 6 used/salvaged batteries. I am upgrading my batteries right now, but am too busy with work, so it's going to be about another two weeks before I can tell what my range will be with the new batts. I would like to hit 30 miles. Top speed should be improved too!

  • love the song ben!

  • Mostly, I was just playing around with fun ways to mount a camera on a car. That's not my serious face, it's my "hope the camera doesn't fall off!" concerned face.

  • lol
