I really miss these old quartet s and the "all night Singings". I've got a few of these albums in my collections. In fact I used to play some of these songs when I worked at a radio station in Round Rock, Texas. KHCS 1985!
Hovie did a great job when he was on lead. Jake Hess and Denver were both equally talented in their crafts. The Statesmen are my favorite gospel quartet or group for that matter with the Happy Goodman Family coming in a close second.

Gospel music needs more songs like this! Hovie Lister and the Statesmen were the greatest quartet ever.
