  • when you say you can catch big carp with poles you are right my gandad caught an 18lb mirror with a pole I know that im only 13 but i am experienced with poles and have caught many fish with them I do use rod but not much because i am terrible with them i've 6lb tench on pole and we all know how well tench fight but I shall stay using a pole for a very long time great vid though thanks for some extra tips :)

  • Cost doesn't have to be an issue..if you're just starting on a pole you can buy an 8 mtr job for around £50...no need to " break the bank "

  • I tried pole fishing when i was a kid, i caught a lot, but i thought it was a bullshit process. then my dad showed me fly fishing, and using lures for seabass, sea trout and i lost intrest in match fishing

  • @hansbean fuck off

  • get video defently going to buy one now and it is my birthday soon so will save up and get a desent one

    what leangth pole was that?

  • thanks dude i bought a pole 1 week ago and now i know the disadvantages and advantages

  • Really nice video - keep posting videos please --- thanks

  • I bought An assassin pole years ago. I am off to try it today. and I hope this video has inspired me to give it a proper go. It always looked good but I just feel so uncomfortable when shipping in and out.

Hope I get the hang of it soon tho lol.

  • @22SASSTEVE i feel the same :) i keep hitting things and stuff - im okay now- ish .lol

  • @aidemguy Hahaha. I should have updated you buddy. I was having a good day. Loads of little fish. Then My brother asked for a go and i went off with his rod. My son decided at this point to go into the field behind and as my bro shipped out he stood on the mid section.lol. well that killed my 100 quid lol.

  • I love pole fishing, I got mine when I was 10 and I'm still having very much fun with that pole 5 years later! In my opinion, if you are unsure about getting one, you should, they are great!

  • i've got a decent 11m pole for £100 with 3 top sections and a cup in kit, i have caught a 9lb mirror carp on it so you dont have to paty like £450 for a decent pole

  • lol i got a 5 meter pole for 12€. Its not going to last long but for a beginner its great.

  • if you have a 14meter pole ...you can attach a 12-14meter line to it ...then you have...24 meters...hahaha i do that with a 9meter whip pole which is not a take-apart

  • Thank you very much, I'll buy a pole for sure!

  • you dont need 500 quid for a ple. you can get nice poles at 11 metres for about 200. on commercial fisheries you hardly ever need to go past 11m infact i rarely go past 9 metres. poles are unbeatable at close range. only time i use my feeder if for bream on big lakes

  • do you need a pole roller or can you just take it apart section by section

  • luvin the hair m8

  • this is a great video, i've just begged every relative for a 7m pole (which be honest for commercials is all you need) and im looking forward to simpler fishing. Could you possibly post a video on a match because thats the style i fish lots of litl fish often> great fun :) thanx again

  • caca

  • A cheaper way of deciding if pole fishing is for you which is not mentioned in the video, is to consider buying a cheap 8m pole and give it a try. You can get one from Aldi stores for £17.99 at the moment, and it's fairly light and made out of vitroforce fibre and including three float rigs. O.k. you don't get elastic or a cup kit, but you'll probably only need to buy elastic to get you going and if you decide that it's for you, you can then splash the cash on a good quality pole like he sez

  • If you want to, you could use a pole for sea fishing in certain circumstances where it might be advantageous to do so.

For example, if you were shore fishing into a harbour when the water conditions were flat or fairly flat and there was a particular feature that was attractive to the species you were after.

Obviously you would want to avoid sand or sea water from getting inside the pole sections. To be honest though, I can't think of many instances where a pole would be preferable to a rod

  • 0:01

  • can you pole fish in the sea?? :)

  • Can these pull apart by accident when you are bringing in a fish?

  • @agglutination No the elastic is the only part being pulled. The pole sections dont pull the fish, they just house the elastic.

    hope this helps :)

  • @agglutination

    Yes.

What he didn't say was that if you have a strong fish on you never point the pole directly at the fish..keep it at an angle, otherwise if the sections are not tight fitting the fish will just pull the pole apart and swim off..leaving the fish attached to a pole section and you with a useless pole.

  • Thanks loads for your comments. We are making a series of videos all aimed towards the newcomer to pole fishing, so please pop back and visit GoFishingOnline regularly

  • @GoFishingOnline can you tell me please im might be buying a browning active 11m pole that cost £87.95 the normal english cost but would it catch a nice fish that ranks up to 6lb-12lb

  • This is a great video tuitorial!!!I have been considering purchasing a pole after some whip fishing. Pole fishing is in it's infancy here in Canada so there's no access for hands on pole fishing. Your video is very helpful. Thanks

  • Great info!!!!! Thanks
