  • why is morimoto in the opening credits of an episode that was made before he replaced the guy that replaced the guy that is the one on this show?

  • This episode is interesting. Caliber is not hereditary. There is tendency that the descendent of the great master always suck.

  • epic !

  • Amazing things can be said about a show that drives people to find old episodes of it on the internet 15+ years later.

  • Damn, I love this show. ^^

  • One voter is not an Iron Chef

  • Kaga was quite pissed. HOW DARE YOU HATTORI!!!

  • The True Iron Chef =)

  • iron chef UK is the best

  • OH MY GO-GO-GODDDDD!!!!!!! THIS IS MORE THAN STUNNING!!!! IRON CHEF AMERICA BLEW ME AWAY AND NOW SEEING THIS! ICAN'T STAND IT THAT'S TOO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i dont get it...there were 4 iron chefs total: chinese, japanese, italian, french, and italian....so why did the guy said that there are only 3 and he wanted to be the 4th one?

  • @yukipham18 because it was originally 3 iron chefs.. and they added the italian iron chef later on :)

  • @yukipham18 Because Italian wasn't added until several years later.

  • WHY'D THEY CHANGE CHAIRMAN'S ENGLISH VOICE OVER?!?! AND IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE "IF MEMORY SERVES ME RIGHT"

  • i could literally stop EVERYTHING im doing and take a moment to watch IRON CHEF!!!!

  • THE CHAIRMANS VOICE IS SO EPIC . XD

  • garbage

  • Most brutal show ever

  • I think Jacques Borie acted as Joel's translator because of the french he spoke to Joel plus the non existence of a third possible translator

  • I agree Dakiss 15, I do enjoy the Iron Chef America but the original is so much better as far as the not wasting a lot of product. I also like the challenge's more as well, I think for sushi they were aloud to make things before the challenge.

  • Wow. So many commenters on this video who think "ICA's Iron Chefs are garbage" or "the original IC chefs are sooo much better" when in fact they don't have any credence to what their saying. It could only be a matter of preference, but it's absolutely bullheaded to say that ICA's chefs are garbage.

Also, you talk about "artistic", "real inspiration", etc. of cooking. Care to elaborate or are you just using highfalutin words to sound credible? You don't even know what you're talking about!

  • @fire1202 Okay iron chef America's chefs are very good but i think iron chefs, chefs are better. Chen Kenichi had a battle against Bobby Flay, i think in New York and Chen won. Does'nt that make him better. Im not sayin there bad just not as good.

  • @schmittl1

Rather, I'd say that the Japanese Iron Chefs are more experienced given their age. Not simply "better". I don't like it when these weebos consider ICA's chefs as "horrible". Then they'd be saying Morimoto is also horrible, cause he was part of the original Iron Chef.

Also, it wasn't Chen vs Flay. It was Morimoto vs Flay. Morimoto won the first round, but Flay won in their rematch.

  • I agree w/ ya all that original Iron Chef Japan is better than American Iron Chef. I been watching ICJ since 1998. then I switched to a cooking show called Dotch cooking show. I honestly think Dotch cooking show is the best ever cooking show ever made. you guys show search it on youtube, but youtube don't have much.

  • Maybe it's just me, but did anyone else think when Chairman Kaga introduced the two guests, they should have bowed back to him?

  • Hey that's Joel Robuchon, I've been to his restaurants in three different countries!

  • I love how they dub everyone but Chairman Kaga.

  • Masaharu Morimoto IS A LEGEND! Why Iron Chef Japan with work thier butts off to get the best foods and Iron chef America they want to be movie stars then cooking but Masaharu Morimoto hes a legend!!

  • Hehehe, he already brought something that he would hold when they take his pic as the new Iron Chef, which is an apple (French has pear, Chinese has cleaver, I think both Japanese and Italian don't carry anything). You can see them all chuckling lol.

It would be good for Hattori-san to become an Iron Chef as it would boost his school's reputation, but that might be a conflict of interest; seeing that in real life, most of IC is influenced by his school (the assistants, the ingredients, etc.)

  • hey just wondering.. any of the iron chefs michelin star winners?

  • hattori-style vs. michiba "no borders" cuisine!

  • we always used to laugh around 5:44 when the chairman looked like he wanted to laugh or maybe spit out the bell pepper XD

    loved the japanese version... T-T

  • love it

  • My favourite part of every show? 5:33

  • I miss watching the japanes one

    American is as fun

  • must i say the Origin Iron chef is so much better then the American one.

The Canadian accents make the perfect do-over also. Also the cooks are so much better then the American iron chefs. Oh and its pretty funny at times.

  • now this is IT!

  • iron chef america is lame. it's just a cooking competition. it doesn't have the same sense of theatrics and that inimitable japanese eccentricity

  • @gloomyoutlook that's because the American "version" is a spin-off with crappy chefs from the Foodnetwork.

they may as well have picked "chefs" like Sandra Lee to be their "Iron Chefs". the American version has no charm, soul or real understanding of artistic inspiration of cooking.

  • @gloomyoutlook Yes exactly this... Iron Chef wasn't a cooking competition so much as it was a show to show what kind of food the 2 chefs can come up with given a random ingredient. ICA is strictly a competition and it lacks the glamor of the original show. I honestly despise ICA and will only watch it if there is absolutely nothing else on.

  • ICJ has so much suspense. ICA has no bio on the challenger (just a short one), full of egos (except for Morimoto), and the chairman's over doing the revealing the secret ingredient. ICJ reigns supreme.

  • @eugene680 Morimoto doesn't NEED an ego to know that he's the fucking mack Daddy.

  • @Fatmanmi Michiba would school morimoto OH EPIC ICA BATTLE MAKE MICHIBA A CHALLENGER

  • @yankeesfan2006 Is he still alive? If so, I don't think he's at top health to do this. He's in his 70's or 80's if he is still kickin;.

  • @gloomyoutlook Yes. And beyond that, Iron Chef America's cuisine is always rather uninspired compared to that featured in the original Iron Chef. In the American version there's a lot more heavy foods, not as many light dishes--there's a complete lack of balance. And Bobby Flay is a douche.

  • @gloomyoutlook

    dude true

  • @gloomyoutlook shouldn't a cooking competition be a cooking competition? Why should it be about comedy?

  • @GothChilde6969

I don't recall mentioning comedy as an element, but the qualities I did state are integral to the format as it was originally intended, I think.

  • If only he won...

  • ahh! Now this is the real show that started it all..they show Iron Chef on FLN (digital cable) but it's not the same..different backround music it's horrible

  • Can't belive I found this! Haven't seen it in six years!

  • original, baby!

  • hattori san is just too old, 15 years younger he would be the best

  • Naw, age has nothing to do with it. Michiba-san is... ancient! And he's one of the best!

I think Hattori-san's error was in which chef he picked.

  • love the ORIGINAL iron chef!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wowowowowowoowowwowow

  • I don't mind Iron Chef America, but this is still the bomb! Epic opening, Epic battles, Epic everything!

  • ZOMG

    badasss!!!!!!!!

  • Doc should have picked Chen

  • my god

    this is epic

  • I think the pace that he was going at is what cost the doc his chance at becoming an Iron chef but that's me

  • I like Japanese version better than American version, but the Japanese version doesn't come on anymore :( Can anyone tell me where to find it?!?

  • It's on weeknights on Fine Living Network. It airs at 11pm EST.

We just lost our Directv so now I'm on YouTube only.

Thank you Archo89 for the uploads!

  • 10pm EST you mean

  • Is it on at 10 now?

We lost our Directv and it's now only on YouTube in our house!

  • Yes it is I've checked my digital cable guide

  • Thanks for the correction!

    You are very helpful!

  • your welcome

  • the presenter can he actually cook?

  • dude i have uk tv so i havent watched iron chef in four years god i love this show

  • I remember watching this one...as soon as Michiba's name left Hattori's mouth, I already knew who was going to win...

  • This is like Jimmy Olsen challenging Superman to a fistfight.

  • Not quite.

  • this was before kobe and one of the worst ever wow still this one will be a shocker anyways. you think you know this show and you see shockers I LOVE IT

  • One of my favorite Iron Chef episodes. :)

  • (石鍋裕) how come no one mentions that Jaques Borie went against Yutaka Ishinabe

  • My guess is because the main focus was Michiba's battle with Hattori.

  • SPOILER:

I know he loses, and one of his dishes is named one of the three worst by the chairman, BUT go get 'em doc!

  • Yeah. You gotta give the man credit for trying.

  • The pie apparently was pretty awful, too.

  • Just out of curiosity, where did you hear that from?

  • In the Iron Chef book. Kaga panned it.

  • Harsh lol

  • O

    M

    G

    Hattori-san!!!!

  • o ya at 513 i shit myself

  • Owned.

  • lol the 4th iron chef is masahiko kobe

  • Despite the intro, Kobe wasn't around in those days. I think he came in 1997.

  • no way!!! another epic!!!

  • I happened to notice the Australian flag in the intro, does anyone happen to know what battle that was for? Thanks :)

  • Battle"Ostrich". Australian style cooking chef, Gillian Hirst v.s. Nakamura. This episode is not uploaded in you tube.Upload in a site named "Ironchef collection"

  • This is a suprise! I didn't realize Hattori-san had done this. So when does Fukui-san appear as a challenger? :p

  • I ain't seen it yet but no way do I think Hattori can cook...

  • Well, he is a doctor (nutrition).

He's the president of the Hattori Nutritional Institute in Japan.

I should hope he knows how to cook. LOL!

    - Al!

  • Oh I know that. Still I think he's outclassed by the Iron Chefs ;)

  • Absolutely... thus him losing when he tried to become an Iron Chef.

Doc is awesome - behind the mic. ;)

    - Al!:P

  • ha...i've never relise Dr. can cook...!!

  • Ah, this one's a great battle. Thanks for uploading!

  • well we already know whose gonna win this

  • Is very hard to get Trufle in mlaysia

  • What a surprise....

  • i hate his voice in this episode.

  • ahh dude you listened to me THANKS!

  • Hmm....i'm guessing this is the one where Hattori made a horrible sake drink for Joel Robuchon...Kaga put dat drink into his 'worst 3' dishes ever tasted in Kitchen Stadium list i think...lol :P

  • Heh, well I guess Hattori deserves a shot - he has been a loyal supporter and vital contributor to Iron Chef - I think calling him a "traitor" is a bit harsh though! XD
