  • Michael is unbelievably underrated by the world, but his fans kinda overrate him as well...

  • このレコードが日本で発売された当時、マイケル・シェンカーは「神」と呼ばれていました。 21世紀の音楽に神はいない。 クソだらけ。

  • He is my GOD,

  • MAJOR INFLUENCE...when I started playing 35 years ago...he and Ronnie Montrose.

  • The guy at 2:57 is loving it

  • Michael is the master.

  • dude, i feel like crap now...

A fucking good solo, just with three fingers...

by what I saw, the key to being a guitar god is not using the little finger in solos.

    hehehehehe

  • are this guys wearing pants or is it spray paint.. & were is udo?

  • This restores my faith in my fellow UFO'ers

I was lucky enough to see them in their prime days and I still did not get why they were not the greatest band on the planet. if you were a hardcore country fan, I would convert you with the "Strangers In the Night" live lp. Hands down greatest live album ever.

  • He's so sexy and talented like wtf its just not fair

  • he should have stayed with ufo :(

  • How could you possibly witness the 6:00-7:00 minute mark and not come away knowing you have just seen the greatest rock guitar player this planet has ever produced? That is of coarse if you still think Michael Schenker is of this earth. I for one, think not.

  • @5Be4Funk - People can say Hendrix, Page, Clapton, Beck, Whoever, all they want...... but I dont think one of those guys can even touch what Herr Schenker throws down from 6-7 minute mark. No way

  • @5Be4Funk - no, my brother-in-law can play better than that!

  • @randomxnp Is your brother in law Yngwie Malmsteen ?

  • @stevegrierson That is a f'ing good guess. My wife's sister is married to him.

  • @randomxnp Brilliant answer my friend

  • Kirk Hammets favorite

  • Saw Michael's brothar now i wanna see Michael

  • Is it just me, or it's THE BEST FUCKING SOLO EVER?!

  • @PrepsAndEmosSuck 8:31 there he is again but man he´s chewing max .-)

  • Can you believe Michael was 26 back then? And still in the business for ca. 10 years. His guitar work from late 70ies early 80ies are probably the best he ever did. One of the alltime greatest slingers, can stand next to EVH, Jimmy and Blackers IMHO.

  • Two words: Mindblowingly amazing guitar playing

  • Electric performance!....Cozy drummed his heart out on this, Michael was ripping that fretboard, so it was 1981, but where?...and is it on a DVD?...would die for it!

  • @mkilner This is in Germany at the Rockpalast. I have it on dvd. Got it on line. Smokin concert.

  • FATTTTT STACK!!!!! USE TO HAVE THATSAME SHIRT , OH THE ONLY BAND LOUDER BACK IN THE DAY LOUDER WAS THE WHO , saw msg plugged in portland , he plays it all!!! NO JOKE !! MY GRANDFATHER told me if you can play it on accoutic you are real

  • OMG... this is awsome... great performance of Schenker on the guitar

  • it's chris glenn, not glenn hughes!

  • my husband saw ufo 3 times and each time the opened for blue oyster cult and rush in 75-77 out rocked them.. lights out in london doctor doctor to hot to handle all great composed songs..he said best live bands he ever seen better than zeppelin van halen..to distorted..and michael schenker is one of the most under rated guitarist ever..his sound is so different ..that gibson flying v he plays like no other

  • @janacusfinch Sorry, no Gibson. Schenker plays Dean Guitars for years

  • @schl0tte Sorry young man. Michael Schenker played Gibson V's up until the late 90's or so. From 72 until then he played a Gibson V. He is playing a Gibson here.

  • Fucking amazing.

  • i searched live albums with cozy powell in MSG, only saw the one at budokan. when and where was this? anyone?

  • @mhg1707 Rockpalast germany...

  • This lineup will always be MSG to me. None of the others will ever measure up.

  • Just watch at 06:09... So intense.

  • what yr is this ??????? 1982? 83? 81 ??

  • @hazor777 1981

  • Angry Whiteboy Music At its Best!

Memories of Sequoia Point in East Oakland!

    And Dennis Erectus KOME 95fm!

  • Yeahh my uncel was roadie of Scorpions. And maybe you know Herman Brood he was a famous Dutch rock singer, my uncal was a roadie of him 2

  • One of the best versions ever of Rock Bottom. Seeing him again at the end of the month.

  • guitar sounded better in the 75 and 73 years videos on youtube, dunno if it was the amp er what but i fuckin love the tone in those and on the recording...this one sounds more like preamp gain only

  • classic MSG, as good as it gets............\m/

  • The best MSG had Gary Barden he is amazing and Schenker is a f***n amazing guitarist! Together they rules! They have getting better and better over the years, my opinion ;)

  • allways kiks my ayse!....sweet post \m/

    btw...u forgot "trower" dude....just sayin

...and yea..the debate can go on..... whos the best?.....f it....thank god for all of em!

  • Slash is a joke compare to anyone, let alone comparing him to Shenker is an act of a wanker.

  • awesome...! there are great riffs and then there is rock bottom....!

  • Saw them at JB's in Dudley, front row 2 feet away held my hands up to him mid solo and he reached out and gave me 5,...AAARRRRGGGHHHH. AWSOME.

  • AWESOME VIDEO! THANKS FOR POSTING IT.

  • Thanks!!!! Great....

  • sev941 Thanks for posting this classic. This line up is Michael Schenker (Guitars), Cozy Powell RIP (Drums), Paul Raymond (Keyboards/Guitars), Gary Barden (Vocals) and Chris Glenn (Bass) not Glen Hughes. Chris Glenn and Gary Barden have since rejoined MSG! Now all we need is Paul Raymond. Anyone want to suggest a drummer?

  • Comment removed

  • this is michael in his peak. the solo and lead break are just fucking out of this world. and look no little finger!!! three finger on the solo. just amazing. v v v v v v v v

  • @jamieskinner3 WTF???????? SCHENKER RULZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!

  • damn, att first it sounds lika a regular 80s rock band but the song gradualy builds up to the solo and blows your fucking mind :D

  • Anybody got the tabs for the solo on this The proper accurate ones??

  • what chords are being played during the solo? like on the piano?

  • watch the drummer at about 6:40 he kicks ass keeping up with Michael.. killer,,,

  • @lkrat4u the drummer is Cozy Powell :o)

  • This song fuckin' rocks

  • Love the one kid in the audience who's just standing there, while every one else around him is rocking out.....! :-D

  • There's one in every crowd!!

  • lol thought I was the only one who noticed!

  • crazy solo! sad thing is that this song is so underrated-you never see any ufo songs in any rankings like best guitar solo are something like that

  • You all secretly watch just for the singer!

  • that's chris glenn on bass...not glen hughes :P

  • the guitar solo from 3.50 onwards is amazin man infact the whole tracks amazing. do i love the MSG man.........\m/

  • amazing Schenker, he just attacks that solo! we saw him last night at the Avalon in Santa Clara, was an acoustic show with Gary Barden. Gary's voice wasn't up to par but great to see him and Michael reunited!!

  • What year was this concert? It looks like early 80's. I don't think cozy powell was living in 2006. Whenever it was it sounds very trippy!!!!!!!

  • 1981

  • Cozy had a great Paiste package, distinctive, clear, full sound, nice tight snare, only a few had it,Jerry Shirley

    Cozy, Bonham,

  • Cozy Powell was in MSG? Did not know that.

  • He was also in Rainbow, ELP, Whitesnake, and Black Sabbath. I met him 1995 in Cleveland walking around in the crowd before the Sabbath show.

  • @dkeizer05 Yup Cozy was in MSG for their second album titled "MSG" came out in 1981. and also Cozy Powell played on the classic One night at budokan live album.

  • none more metal

  • Fabulosa presentación♫

  • could watch this allday man amazing..........\m/

  • Long Live Cozy Powell.

  • His memory, you mean?

    RIP Cozy, we miss you!

  • Michael Schenker is the man, top 3 best german guitarist I have to say.

  • with uli and matthias ;)

  • Top 3 all time

  • No. Top 3 all time. Roth is there too.

  • Glen Hughes?think you mean Chris Glen..

  • yeah i was thinking that too, I don't think Glen Hughes ever played with MSG...

  • @waylay00 Nope, Glenn Hughes has never played in MSG at all.

  • Great video,I remember those times ,Schenker fronting his own Band this time!

    thnx for posting!

  • Michael NEVER uses his pinky.

  • Really? Check out Bijou Plesurrette 1984. Into the Arena.

And Captain Nemo. Also Schenker licks, riffs and comments.

You don't know what you are talking about.

Also if you watch closely when he needs the 4th position he stretches his 3rd finger for that position. He is all over the fretbboard and is in complete control of what he is doing. He can play anything that comes to his mind. He has melody, speed, vibrato, tone and writes tremendous solo's/songs. And they never sound the same.

  • one of the best versions he ever played

  • love schenker, like most everyone else here. hooked the first time i heard him in '75. on a related note, why does everyone say solo when they should be saying lead? solo is when you play without accompaniment, while a lead is where your instrument is playing the main part, correct?

  • everyone keeps saying solo because that's what it is.

lead is just another term for melody, (as in not rythm?) played through the entire song.

a solo is when the instrument player plays a lead that completely stands out...

dude i guess it's hard to explain but how do you not know that?

  • yeah, that threw me too when the guy with the camera decided to cut away when michael was doing his thing there...what was he thinking?

  • I agree completely with your comment, and also think that the flying V only looks good played by M.S. as it is not the easyist guitar to master. Schenker trully mastered it.

  • hugely underated guitarist in my belief.deserves much more respect and credit than he got especially with gibson i cant believe they didnt produce a signatere for him given that most flying v guitars sold will be due him especially over the last thirty odd years.

  • Awesome video dude

The best part is to see a great drumer playing a great song

    All hail Cozy Powell

  • EXCELLENT FOOTAGE by the way !! This really ROCKS !!!!

  • Michael Schenker is the Godfather of the late 70's , early to mid 80's "metal/rock" genere.Sure alot of players have cited the obvious :VH,Page,Clapton,Beck Hendrix etc.. but many people forget Schenker made his mark in what was to be know as metal in late 70's & 80's......give the man his due !

  • @hazor777 Hey jackass, what about Frank Marino?

  • @headjh : Well since you had to interupt me from sticking my cock in your mother's ass , what about Frank Marino ?? Who gives a fuck about fat ass Frank Marino ? Obviously you do ,which is why I don't.

  • @hazor777 One of the greatest rock guitarists of all time, and one of my favorites. No only top 100, but in my opinion, top 10, if not 5. =-)

  • @caldrumr

So true. I'd say top 4

  • @caldrumr He and Uli Roth smoke other rock guitarists of the 70's.

  • @kingofthedeep schenker is so under rated he could play better than anybody when he was in his prime around 75-77

  • @kingofthedeep since when is music a competition?

  • @nine22dreamer I guess since bands were trying to "blow away" their contemporaries. Making music is about pushing the boundaries for yourself and the band, and at the same time showing the others how great you and your band are.

And making music you enjoy. Bands have been in competition for years. Stones and Beatles come to mind. Hell even before then.

  • @kingofthedeep dont agree but they're great though

  • @mouloudo If they are on. You ain't got any better.

  • @kingofthedeep I dont think you can count out Ritchie BLackmore, Brian MAy, David Gilmour ... but I love shenker and Uli

  • @mouloudo and dont forget gary moore too

  • @kingofthedeep ...er, no they dont!!

  • @kingofthedeep Have you ever heard about a guy called Jimi Page?

He was in a little local band called Led Zeppelin or something...

    Anyway, they're both great guitarrist

  • @jfranax Yup. Big Zep fan here. But he wasn't playin stuff like this. Or the stuff like Uli Roth was doing. Schenker,Roth and Blackmore were the first to PIONEER what was later neo-classical style. BTW Schenker was 18 when he wrote this song. Ever heard the vinyl version? EPIC. Love Page to death but he was no where near this as far as lead guitar is concerned. Peace.

  • @kingofthedeep No, I only have the remastered CD

I think he's fucking awesome too, also Roth and of course Blackmore, one of my fav guitarrist

It's amazing he wrote this being only eighteen

  • @kingofthedeep Let me correct you on this. Hendrix number one, Page number two . . . .

  • @kingofthedeep No offence to you but you should go away and listen to some smooth Jazz. Or alternatively the all-male welsh choir orchestra, even some of Michael Jacksons motown. Then maybe your opinion will be worth something.

  • @reefex12 Well maybe you should go away. I stand by my statement. As far as lead guitar players are concerned. They crush. Speed, melody, tone, and phrasing they are head and shoulders above the rest. And I'm a huge Page fan.

  • @kingofthedeep I understand why you say that. It's because you know you'd be overwelmed by emotions, feelings you havent felt in years, thats why you wont listen to smooth jazz. Because you are afraid !
