I proud to be Guatemalan how can north Americans b proud I mean everything they have is at everyone else's cost, o yeah they don't teach the bad things in us history I know Cuz I went to school there
@dukenukem4lifeyo123 You are correct to a extent. In a report done by the Archbishop's Office for Human Rights attributed almost 90.0% of the atrocities and over 400 massacres to the Guatemalan army and less than 5% of the atrocities to the guerrillas (including 16 massacres). In another report done in 1999 by the UN-sponsored Historical Clarification Commission stated that the state was responsible for 93% of the human rights violations committed during the war, the guerrillas for 3%.
geguay5128 porque te sientes orgulloso de ese ejercito que solo a llebado terror a guatemala. solo se que todos los del ejercito fueron ignorantes que solo aseptaban a hacer lo que les ordenaban por la estupides muchas familias sufren.
The United States are the biggest terrorists and invators in the world, they'll sacrifice their own people let alone other people from other countries. I can't believe that because of the U.S. this 36 year old war was triggerd and thousands of people tortured and dead while they were peacefully at home sitting back and probably laughing about all this. The U.S. is the reason why thousands of guatemalans had to leave their country to go to theirs and they still have the decensy to kick them out.
Actually, the civil war in Colombia is a lot longer than the war in Guatemala. The war in Guatemala was 36 years long, while the war in Colombia, which is still occuring, is in it's 46th year and will most likely enter it's 47th year.
Unfortunately, Campo, YOU are the one who needs to do the research.
I'm afraid the CIA was responsible for orchestrating the coup that overthrew Guatemala's democratically elected government in 1954, sparking the longest bloodiest civil war that Latin America has ever known.
Committing 95% of the heinous crimes against humanity during this time were the soldiers that the CIA had trained with many of the weapons the CIA had given working for the military regime that the US had put in place.

Wow. Everybody criticizes the government forces for the crimes they committed. The rebels murdered civilians themselves.

That comission they talk about was not impartial as they say, but the military did commit a lot of crimes, and so did the guerillas.

However, the civil war in Colombia is not as brutal as the war in Guatemala was.
