  • Ned, I just LOVE your work; especially, "Road Ode", "Creasant Noon" and "Crystal Lullabye."

  • @tiner27 You pretty much said it all, I agree. Very sorry to hear about your father.

  • I love this song. And congratulations for the video. I feld like a child. Very beautiful.

  • Magical song! :) just beautiful

  • "The song is beautiful...Karen Carpenter had a quality in her voice than no-one could copy. Interesting the 5 pointed stars (Pentagrams) in the video pictures! Illuminati Zionist media promoting Illuminati Free Masonry symbols once more. Everywhere you look in media these symbols are added as a way to mind control the viewers. Free Masonry is Zionist. anti-Zionism does not equal anti-Semitism and not all Zionists are Jews as not all Jews are Zionist." Looks like the WTC in the crystal??

  • @JillAngie3 "Beautiful, beautiful, Karen is awesome, yada, yada (which I agree with!). But then comes the conspiracy/mind control crap I probably agree with you that "Free" Masonry Is cultic, but to suggest that some images circa 1890 juxtaposed with a pretty song from 1972 is "mind control", is silly. The images are brilliant for the song, and one must be weak-minded to have their mind controlled by stars/pentagrams. I prefer Billy Grahams myself.

  • I say get me another tequila! Seriously, much of the Carpenters' music and, of course, especially Karen's voice can lift me right out of my chair. My heart will always have a permanent place for her and the joy and happiness she brought me. Rest in peace, love.

  • my mom would sing this to me when i was little. I LOVED IT!

  • Anything that Ned Nickerson puts on Youtube regarding the Carpenters is simply sublime. A true fan...Ned you got me crying again buddy. (John in Phoenix)

  • and your video is absolutely enchanting....except for the bugs. you can't make bugs cute! lol

  • what better voice to lull one to sleep than karen's sweet, soothing, and gentle voice?

  • Thank you for your excellent posting...lovely song...enjoyed your video...exceptional!!

  • i enjoy your work

  • Peecee, thank you very much. : )

  • You're the best, NedNickerson. It's impossible for me to not have tears in my eyes for every single Carpenters song I listen to. Long before Karen passed her voice would move me with such pathos. It was 1969 when I first heard the Carpenters and I was 9 years old. The end of that year that my dad passed and if it wasn't for the solace I found in listening to their music I wouldn't have gotten through it. Karen's voice will always be a sanctuary for me when the world turns occasionally cruel.

  • @tiner27 God bless you :-)

  • @tiner27 Occasionally cruel? You're quite generous! You're right with Karen's voice. I'm a 50 year old single putz who never learned how to live (nor wanted to ) deal with the real world. I've often dreamed of having a 3-5 year old daughter, only to sit with her to listen & watch this video, so we could both escape to the innocence and safety we all long for. Get me another beer.

  • One of my absolute favorites by The Carpenters. I used to listen to this at night before bed. It's still soothing after all these years.

  • Another tasty and brilliant Richard Carpenter arrangement. This guy never missed once.

  • @bobareebop AMEN TO THAT : )

  • Nevermind the rest, this is my absolute favorite Carpenters song of all time. The images here fit perfectly. Thanks, NedNickerson2010, whoever you are!

  • Great video, your videos ALWAYS really bring the song to life !

  • The first Album I ever owned was "Carpenter's 'Song for you' of which Crystal Lullaby was one of the tracks on the VINYL record. It was 1971 and I listened to that record until it died and this song along with Road Ode and the "Bathroom break" at the end of side one were the one's that really made me a lifelong fan of Richard & Karen. I saw them in Concert in Tucson the Summer of 1971. Richard is a brilliant musical Savant, and Karen with her amazing Alto voice whilst drumming - AMAZING !!!!

  • @lucycow -- Saw Beatles Live in Atlanta 1965, Amazing! . . . . But YOU ACTUALLY SAW CARPENTERS PERFORM LIVE ?? God, do you know many people would pass up ANYTHING to be You?? You're the ONLY person I've read about who got to see them Play Live! I'm a long-time jazz/rock drummer & natural, budding, Young talent is easily spotted. I spoke w/ Buddy Rich in Knoxville after a gig in 1976 & He Respected Karen's Drumming Talents AND her Angelic Voice, as I did. Congratulations !

  • @1drumfreak1 .They were supposed to come here in 75/6(Scotland) and I was only TEN..(yeah,they had that effect on me that young). My dad had to explain we couldn't go because "She wasn't very well". Naturally I thought this was an excuse not to go see them, but how do you explain her illness to a 10 year-old and it make sense. They came back a year later on what would be I suppose the Kind Of Hush tour. We went and I'll never forget it. It's only after she died I realise just how lucky I was.

  • @1drumfreak1 Saw them perform twice in high school. If you want to get the experience of their shows..watch the concert footage from Austrailia..It is the way it was..Sound was wonderful and they were very entertaining.

She would sit and play..there was an orchestra behind and then she would come to the mike and perform ..Just a great show

  • I get lost in this song. The world disappears, and I fall in love with the perspective of a five year old adorable girl, which I've never experienced. The innocence of a child. May this be a longing that brings us to salvation in Christ. I'm sure Karen is with Him.

  • @greenwich1754 I cried when I heard the news of her passing; I wish she could have gotten help; it's just too bad not much was known about Anorexia at the time.

  • It's easy to see why in my opinion this group was the best that there was.Karen & Richard did so much for music, I just wish they would get their due. Voice of an Angel, Eyes of God. The most Beautiful & Angelic person I have ever seen. I'd move Heaven & Earth if I could to bring her back. This song is so perfect thanks to Richards superior arranging & Karen's incredible gifted voice. She indeed was a borrowed Angel for all of us to enjoy listening to. Put The Carpenters in The Hall of Fame!

  • This is the smoothest song from A Song For You.

  • A truly beautiful relaxing song. Perfect singing by Karen perfect orchestration and production. Great to listen before going to sleep. Sublime.

  • Where did you get this version of the song from? It sounds a little different than I recall from my copy of A Song for You.

  • @mobilene It's actually different from the original version on the album. I noticed it immediately as you did. Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab was a company that released "Original Master Recordings" of albums, carefully remastered from the original tapes for greater sound clarity and fidelity. This youtube recording of "Crystal Lullaby" is from that remastered CD. They did the same this with the original version of "Merry Christmas Darling." I, personallyprefer the originals. You've a good ear, too!

  • simplente hermosoy muy calida la voz de karen carpenters

  • As long as Crystal Lullaby is on YouTube, the world makes sense. "She's guarded by a brave tin soldier, Sitting on her shoulder."

  • @jeffsoule2010 Yes, indeed. :)

  • My obsessive/compulsive urge to listen to the Carpenters magnificent harmonies led me to chase this down again.
