I read about this place in Barrack Obamas book "Dreams of my Father" and from what i see of the place it doesnt look to bad ive seen worse down here in Australia and im wondering if anyone lnows if they got a MET down in A.G?

Altgeld Gardens is a Liberal solution. These people are better than hand outs. These people have been insulted and degraded by being treated as if they cannot succeed without being given anything. No expectations were put on the people there... so they stayed poor. They continued the cycle of victimhood... and while what this woman is doing is one small step in the right direction, we as a country need to stand up and demand equal expectations... because hand outs are insulting.
God bless Dr. Jackson, keep doing what you are doing. One of my best girl friends from high school teaches right in the Gardens. My hats off to you women!!
Dr. Jackson if I would have had the chance to meet before I relocated to Albuquerque New Mexico in 2005 after graduating from Columbia College. I would still be there. I had a thought the other day, "Man I should have stand in Altgeld Gardens and started my nonprofit orgaization." Oh my gosh I remember this lady growing up. I always wondered what happend to Dr. Jackson. Altgeld was not as bad as people think. We always had sports coming we just didnt like when people came talking crazy, yeah that would get anyone a pumpkin head wherever you go. I remember people from roseland getting it.
Oh my God! Dr. Jackson, my name is Andrew Smith. I grew up in Altgeld Gardens and you were my very first Doctor after my birth,(47yrs ago) and you have left a life lasting memory of you in my life. I hope after reviewing this documentary the world notice's you not just a Dr. whom shared loved with a community in despair, but you should be highly commended for your work with a noble peace prize!
