Your perspective is very interesting. My wife is Mexican (from Guanajuato) But most of our Mexican friends are new immigrants. Strangely we know very few Chicanos. Here in Central Florida there is a huge community of immigrants. They are great people. Allot of fun.

One thing I admire about the generation of blacks from the 60s is there sense of brotherhood and togetherness. That's something that is missing in Chicano culture today.

Your perspective is very interesting. My wife is Mexican (from Guanajuato) But most of our Mexican friends are new immigrants. Strangely we know very few Chicanos. Here in Central Florida there is a huge community of immigrants. They are great people. Allot of fun.

I was actually referring to Chicanos/Mexican-Americans that live in the Southwest,
the proximity to our motherland really plays a major role in the ties to our heritage.
We are one of the groups of people that have a hard time assimilating.
I think in the many minds of Chicanos/Mexican Americans, it is the rest of the country that should assimilate to us.
It's the mentality that we didn't cross any borders, the borders crossed us.

Looking at it from the context of the times, it might have been the best thing for Chicanos that the border crossed them,at least for the ones living in the SW. But I know that's easy for me to say. Again, from a historical context, many of the States in Northern Mexico as well as Yucatan were cheering for the U.S. during the Mexican War. They hated Santa Ana. I know some of the resentment chicanos have is our fault. But whites by in large aren't racist now. I hope we can unite.

That's true also, but when the US invaded the Mexican territory, some of the US troops ended up switching sides because of the unspeakable, cruel and sadistic treatment of Mexicans on behalf of the American troops (this batalion is known as the SSaint Patrick's Battalion).
It's hard to deny that there is a lot of hate towards Mexicans (and other Latinos for looking Mexicans) in the world of today.

that, i agree. I don't really see what the problem is. The migrant workers aren't planning on living here for the rest of their lives, if you would actually read about what they do then you'd know that a great majority stays here some 4-7 years and then return home

Dont be an ingrate... the notion of aztlan was a unifying force... and gave uprooted people a place of unity ... at least in their mind... Aztlan has served us .. has given us a sense of c0ming from a unified place... There is an AZTLAN .. its a couple miles north of Santa Barbara .. where el Plan de Santa Barbara was born.
