Traineau, always been such a classy fighter he knew it was Gasymov's ippon the ref awarded it right. The only whiners are the Douillet's crowd they want a win even if it's by deception!
I agree. Definitely ippon for the Russian. It was never the Frenchman's. The only thing that I would be aware of was whether or not the technique began on the ground! If it did, the throw is null and void!
But, you can see that it is the russian in blue that comes upright and puts his weight on his left leg, right before throwing his right foot in the air and jumping up and over his opponent, thereby forcing him on his back...
The sumi gaeshi fails... if you watch closely, you can see that the french guy's right leg barely touches the russian's thighs
that's not how you suppose to end up in sumi gaeshi.

Why'd they give it to the Russian guy? It was clearly a sacrifice throw. My French isn't good enough to understand the announcer, what did he say?

Well...
You're part right
The french guy indeed tries a Sumi Gaeshi

The ippon is blue not white - the russian player keeps his control to the end of the technic

and his back never touches the mat! He just rolls over Traineau.

He said,
"Anyone that thinks this was a sumi gaeshi by Traineau is an idiot."
