Cost savings I'd guess. Sharing enginges between different brands inside Ford Motor company is cheaper than to keep the TD5 going parallell....I wonder what will happend now when TATA is the owner of Land Rover?
@slrk1725 i only know that the td4 has more torque on low rpm than the td5...i know it because i have a td4 and my dad has the td5 (2005)...where i can go normally he has to lock the differential :P
ford fucked up landrover slightly at one point i think, (own opinion) hopefully tata will do a bit beta job.

No, not really. This is the TD5 enginge not the new TD4 that is shared with the Transit

Yes the cat is all that is left of any "silencer-functionality" that the TD5 had.
