Well, one year later Rift is now circling the drain. Guess "rifting off" Wow and add a "close oblivion gate" flavor wasn't a very good idea now it's outside the board room huh. Maybe adding a shitty console like interface along with level scaling would save it? How about intense action with blood splatter everywhere on the screen a la CoD? Why don't just rip off everything while you at it? Suck it up guys, and suck it well, because you deserve every thick slimy rotten drop of failure from this.

Rift is to WoW what WoW was to EQ. It's got better graphics by virtue of the technology, more so than the actual designer skill. The primary difference is in what WoW took from EQ and what it learned from and fixed. The same is true in Rift. Where WoW had daily quests, dungeons and raids at max-levels to keep players interested, Rift adds instant adventures and constant world events. This keeps the between-content periods interesting.
@lintonthepenguin I played WoW for 6ish years and EQ for 4 years before that. WoW was a massive improvement on EQ (which was already a great game). But we're greedy, and as soon as something becomes the new baseline, we want something better. Rift is that for now, but we'll see what the future holds...
i dont care which game is the most played i just play the game i think is fun and not what everybody else think. i play wow, forsaken world, prius online, lol, fallout, mw3, minecraft, skyrim tf2 and poxnora :D i like those games :)

I play Rift after I gave up on WoW...I enjoyed WoW...but the Ah got out of controll and each patch release cost more and more...and wasn't really giving me anything more that i wanted. WoW's grafics are decent and don't require to much...but If you turn up the Grafics on Rift, if your card is not good it will cause your conputer to shit itself. litterly...I was playing WoW on max and was fine but still had to dump $1300 more into my computer just to get Rift to max. grafics wise Rift is better

I've played about ten minutes of Rift and 45 minutes WoW and i can say that the ten minutes of Rift were a lot funner then the whole 45 minutes of World of Warcraft

hahahahahahahaha i've played both and wow's content is longer lasting than rifts, while rift does have better graphics wow has so many things you can do even after you reach level 85, rift is new so its content is still rather low in what you can do and how you can do things, but hey it looks better:D unless wow updates the graphics, and well then rift is screwed
@omicida4991 In which? My experience in Rift and WoW was that Rift questing is more like WoW in the early days. WoW circa Cataclysm is more about leading you around with a single quest chain through an entire zone and then off to the next. WoW vanilla was more of a mix of chained quests and random slice-of-life-in-the-zone type quests that you picked up wherever you happened to go. Rift is much more the first model, and I kind of like it that way.
Warcraft rip-off Warhammers style, WoW rip-off alot of older MMORPGS barely introducing any new features back when it was released (not that most of the players would know since they havn't played any MMOs before WoW and think it redefined the whole genre, which it sure as hell didn't) and RIFT is a rip-off too. One could say CoD is a rip-off too, from games like Medal of Honor, and that in turn comes from old shiat like doom. IT'S A FUCKING EVOLUTION NOW STOP ARGUING!

RIFT had the opportunity to fix the grindiness of questing instead made a bunch more "Kill X mobs" for no reason. That's why I couldn't even get to 50. Someone should make an MMO that doesn't suck, like taking the best ideas from single player RPGs like TES5 and adding multiplayer features and drop the old MMORPG template completely.

RIFT's just an average-quality WoW clone with a half-assed, lazily-made gimmick called Rifts that were an epic fail attempt at dynamic content and a class system claims to make your combat experience seem unique but in reality, it just gives you 100s of abilities you wouldn't even use. You're better off playing either SWTOR or WoW or wait for GW2.
Used to play WoW but was sick of getting Hacked dispite having authenticators, paying every month and enduring ERPers :/ Shame, I liked it as well.
Doesn't mean Im going to run off to Rift though. WoW may have lots of flaws but so does every game. Rift has flaws, so does GW2 and SW:TOR :) Its not a matter of which game is best, its what you enjoy playing and what you're willing to pay and endure for it.

@Kwintox Having a large base of casual players by no means makes it the king of anything.. sure in its vanilla days it was 100% on top.. but if you look at the hardcore wow players that will be with it til the servers shut down in whatever many years their numbers are no larger then the hardcore fans of any other MMO that doesnt have a large casual player base look at runescape by no means a great game anymore but its hardcores will stay til it takes its last breath... just like rift

Rift gameplay is exactly like WoW.. which isn't bad, but come on, what's the lore in Rift? "Close Rift A, Close rift B... oh noes, a boss appears from the rift" ;) It's not exactly "new" and refreshing to the mmo genre either ;) Fine if you enjoy the game, but don't try to make it better than it realy is.
TBH i dont think that most of the skills were stolen from WoW....ya they had the skills b4 RIFT but every mmorpg has similar skills....thats like saying RIFT stole the stealth skill from WoW for the rogues...not true, the game would be dumb if rogues didnt have stealth...and for warriors ofc they have a charge attack, how else would they pvp against mages or rangers, just saying i dont think the skills are copied but just to make sure the game is balanced.
I'm actually downloading the trial for Rift right now. I played endgame on pre-BC, BC and leveled a character to 85 when Cata came out on WoW. It is old, I'd like to try something new. I don't care if its a clone, I don't care if its slightly a worse game-- I need something different, and WoW is a decade of the same thing but now with more free epics to give to scrub players. Anyone obsessed with WoW now is either new to the game or in denial.

RIFT had the opportunity to fix the grindiness of questing instead made a bunch more "Kill X mobs" for no reason. That's why I couldn't even get to 50. Someone should make an MMO that doesn't suck, like taking the best ideas from single player RPGs like TES5 and adding multiplayer features and drop the old MMORPG template completely.

The way I could just be standing there in WoW, then all of a sudden a Rift open on top of me and then I'd be fighting like 2 lots of enemies at once. RIFT's just an average-quality WoW clone with a half-assed, lazily-made gimmick called Rifts that were an epic fail attempt at dynamic content and a class system claims to make your combat experience seem unique but in reality, it just gives you 100s of abilities you wouldn't even use. You're better off playing either SWTOR or WoW or wait for GW2.

Used to play WoW but was sick of getting Hacked dispite having authenticators, paying every month and enduring ERPers :/ Shame, I liked it as well.
Doesn't mean Im going to run off to Rift though. WoW may have lots of flaws but so does every game. Rift has flaws, so does GW2 and SW:TOR :) Its not a matter of which game is best, its what you enjoy playing and what you're willing to pay and endure for it.

Any company would choose that option. classic.battle.net/war3/neutral/pandarenbrewmaster.shtml for the panda lore, you could even choose the pandaren brewmaster as a hero in DotA. @Kwintox Having a large base of casual players by no means makes it the king of anything.. sure in its vanilla days it was 100% on top.. but if you look at the hardcore wow players that will be with it til the servers shut down in whatever many years their numbers are no larger then the hardcore fans of any other MMO that doesnt have a large casual player base look at runescape by no means a great game anymore but its hardcores will stay til it takes its last breath... just like rift

Aion, Rift, AoC, Warhammer, LOTRO all even struggled to get 4 million subscribers in total. Let alone keep them interested for 7 years without making it free to play. Sorry, but that defines a true king of mmo's for me anyways ;)

TBH i dont think that most of the skills were stolen from WoW....ya they had the skills b4 RIFT but every mmorpg has similar skills....thats like saying RIFT stole the stealth skill from WoW for the rogues...not true, the game would be dumb if rogues didnt have stealth...and for warriors ofc they have a charge attack, how else would they pvp against mages or rangers, just saying i dont think the skills are copied but just to make sure the game is balanced.

I'm actually downloading the trial for Rift right now. I played endgame on pre-BC, BC and leveled a character to 85 when Cata came out on WoW. It is old, I'd like to try something new. I don't care if its a clone, I don't care if its slightly a worse game-- I need something different, and WoW is a decade of the same thing but now with more free epics to give to scrub players. Anyone obsessed with WoW now is either new to the game or in denial.
