  • I like this explanation. He uses the word 'pulls' a few times because tightening the top cap pulls the fork up onto the thread of the top cap bolt and stops any play in the headset.

  • wtf is a "stim" ?

Also I'd lock the front breaks and rock the bike back and forth to test for play, then lift the front to see if the handlebar can fall of it's own accord. And everyone stfu about torque wrenches, it's aluminium; an approximate feel is all that's required.

  • Motobecane ships their bikes with the steerer tube already cut? That thing looks pretty short to have just been unboxed.

  • You truly are an idiot whoever posted this retarded video. Aheadset is the name of the headset. The stem is a Ritchey, you fucking idiot. Two separate parts you moron. I cant believe you are working on these nice parts with little know-how and a shitty bike.

  • @AdidasLeaf420

Calm the fuck down, Rain Man. He can do what he wants. It's. Just. A. Video.

  • @AdidasLeaf420

    Sand in your vagina much?

  • Important! He does not say it or show it, but hold the front wheel from falling out of the headset when removing the top cap.

  • A question for evrybody ,I have a trek soho with no hadlebars and no stem ,but i don't know how to measure the stem so i can buy one, some help please.by the way the handlebars and the stem somebody took them ,i guess they thought they belong to them or got confused .Thank you very much and have a nice time.

  • LOL that guy made me laugh

  • Damn I Kept hammering the thing in place the get it settle down, I thought that thing was only a nice cover.

  • FFS people, that is an AL steerer, only someone who's never wrenched on a bike would be unable to torque that bolt properly.

Torque wrenches are really needed only on carbon parts. Any decent mechanic should be able to apply proper torque to most bike parts without one.

  • weak

  • USE A DAMN TORQUE WRENCH!

  • ideally yes, but do you know anyone who has one?

  • lol the glare at the end... press STOP on the camera bitch

  • thanks

  • ya and u want to torque the stem

  • What does torque the stem mean? How do you do it?

  • it means set it to a certain tightness of the bolt u do it by getting a torgue wrench

  • Nice one bro, me knows now...

  • Should probably mention that if your bike is suspended

in the air, you need to hold the wheel up(like in your video) so the wheel and steerer tube don't fall out..

  • Thanks, just the info I was looking for.
