I still have this game sitting behind me in a box, perfect condition with the silent hill demo in the back. Classic game, great story line and awesome characters. Games like the MGS series just aren’t being made anymore. They are a dieing breed that are slowly being strangulated by games and companies like cod and ea. The story lines in the MGS series will ALWAYS keep me coming back to them, it is the only reason I still own an original PS1. Great game that will no doubt always be a favorite.

as far as innovation in gaming and gaming storytelling i cant seperate them because like i said there both at opposite ends of the spectrum and not comparable in that way. so all i can say is thay are the only 2 games that made my jaw drop and never look at gaming the same way again. plus thay are both FAR AND AWAY better at getting to the heart of what there storys are about than 98.9 % of any movies out there. and there are alot ov movies hay lol.

yeah very true, for the price you would think they would be able to play playstation 1 2 and 3 disks. although ps3 online is excellent best ive seen online for a console, i still want to play ps2 games like mgs2 and silent hill 1 +2. i heard a rumor that the ps3 is going to go vitrual reality, the possibilities of putting on some googles and being completly immersed wil be amazing. imagine if they did mgs 1 in virtual reality were you are solid snake... awrr i should stop dreaming lol

The original Metal Gear, designed by Hideo Kojima, debuted in 1987 for the MSX2 computer platform in Japan and Europe. Wow its been 22 years and metal gear solid is still kicking ass. Im 16 years old, but i grow up with the metal gear franchise, and in my opinion it is the best gaming franchise to ever hit the stores, it's what gaming is all about, it's the Crème de la crème of gaming, and it may go down in history as the best gaming franchise to ever be released. Metal Gear for life :)

i TOTALY agree, the depth of story is second to NONE, with (IMO) silent hill coming second. i was 18 when MGS1 came out 11 years ago and i lost count how many times my jaw dropped at what an innovation in gaming/storytelling it was.

think of MGS as the game that looks at the big picture of mankind and silent hill as the one that delves into the hart of the human psychy. kind of like to games addressing humanity but at each end of the spectrum. also silent hill is the only game/film or any form of media for that matter that genuinely got under my skin and truely unerved me.

geo-political power struggles.. for instance, the cold war we saw the struggle of ideolagy's , communism and capitalism. today we see it it mainly manifest itself as an energy (oil/gas) situation that goverments are and most likely will continue to fight wars over. and as kojima predicts in the near future it will be a worldwide war economy, (we can see the seeds of it already) for example. the number of allied soldier casualtys we hear about on the news (comment continues)

sure, last samurai was composed by the great hans zimmer. he also did films like gladiator, black hawk down, and many others. if you want music that sounds like mgs4, then that was composed by harry-gregson williams. not only did he compose all the music for mgs 4, but he also did the music for man on fire, which is amazing. message me back telling me what you think .

i remember playing this game all winter when it first game out.. remember i used to save right before the end.. so i can finish it just to hear this amazing piece of music over and over again..

and when i played nr 4 and when you return to shadow moses and hear this song played silently in the distance.. man it almost made me cry .. no game has ever had such emotional content like the mtgs series.. ok, final fantasy 7 is also a piece of art, but still.. just listen.. man amazing.
