I'm not going to the movies for my birthday as planned until they settle this strike. I'm not buying DVDs. I'm not downloading tv shows. I'm not buying any products advertised on any tv shows. I will try to rent only foreign movies. I wanted to see The Golden Compass and No Country for Old Men...Oh well. I'll just have to read the books again: old media!

The fact that there are people who DO follow politics and enjoy tv demolishes your argument. Don't blame television for making people stupid and apathetic, it goes way further, like how years of being a superpower has made a generation take their place in the world for granted. So get off the soapbox.
People will do what they want anyways. Also, in a world with chaos, people also need entertainment to keep them from going insane. "bad" people will stay "bad" if they want to and those who aren't focused on the negativity will find ways, if they want to, to support each other and keep their heads up.

My guess would be that she's started acting in movies... so she's a member of SAG, which is supporting the strike. And she did give a little speech about being a writer herself... oh yeah, the publicity probably doesn't hurt either.
i'm with yo.. the internet downloads (the payed ones, not bittorrent) is the same future that DVD were 10 years ago... and they want to screw you the same way they did 10 years ago. (but you can finish that LOST episodes, right? because I dont want only 8 of them...:( )
