They now have a costum sprite for hackers of the bowser from the SMB1 game, it uses hammers and fire balls.

It's meant to be SMB1 in Mario World, not SMB1 in SMB1 world - e.g., flying, spin jump, Yoshi, backup item.

Looking to do the same thing for the NES version of Mario 3, pointers are still a bit unknown to me though (you fall through pipes to death etc). I stopped after making the first stage because of this!

You complain, endlessly, about it being too easy, then carry a springboard to the only hard jump and fly over other worlds. Of course the game was easy; it was a re-build of, by today's standards, an easy game.

To me, your only valid complaint was Bowser having no animation. Past that, you were being critical for the sake of attempting to be a critic -- which is even more annoying when I can tell you know and understand the content of what you're reviewing!

He couldn't carry the spring in the original, he could have just left it there to make it difficult, and he shouldn't have flown over those easy levels, because this game is so easy, I wanted to see him play the new levels with his amazing skill.

@Fomelogo: I think this has been covered in other comments, but there's a platform in the lava there. I knew to jump there because I've played the original SMB for NES a lot and the platform is pretty much in the same place.

This hack is old. With today's advances, the Bowser that moves around and throws hammers is already made and possible. Hacks like these were on the foundation of SMW hacking. A lot of stuff wrong can be fixed and be exactly like the original.

Also, you're not supposed to grab the Yoshi because you can't spin jump, and that's the only way (besides getting hit) to get off Yoshi.

@jt62786: If you mean at the beginning of Bowser's Castle (8-4), there's a moving platform you can land on so you won't fall in the lava. It's kinda hard to spot, I guess, but if you look again, you'll probably see it.

Lol try Mariofusion it's really hard compare to this. But it's not like a remake or anything, it's seperate levels from other games (like Megaman) yet you play as Mario

Yer right, this is a bit easier. However, I also noticed some things that made it harder...

1. In World 1-2, a trick to help me get through a bunch of enemies in a narrow space as small Mario, which was kicking a turtle shell, and running after it. In this, Mario picks up the shell, meaning I have to walk and kick it, then run.

2. You know how in the original, you can almost walk to the very edge of a ledge and not fall? Well it's not as leniant in this remake.

Some time in 2006 I started a remake of this, where pretty much all the glitches were fixed, everything was working just like it was in SMB, and overall it looked a lot cleaner. Sadly though, I lost motivation to complete it, so it may never see the light of day =P

It's an honour to see a video made of my hack like, and it was a pleasure to watch and hear the commentary. Thanks =)

I remember you from Acmlm's when you were first starting this thing. Lunar Magic was actually pretty hugely developed by the time you started it, and your skill with that editor certainly shows here. However, what you seemed to lack was sufficient ASM hacking knowledge to fully take on a sufficient remake.

6:40 - that's why I said using Yoshi is a bad idea, and if I remember correctly, there were a few other glitches caused by him.

In retrospect... you're right; it's ridiculously easy, and I'm aware there are a lot of glitches, and other lame parts (Bowser, flagpole, warpzone, etc) - I made this in 2005 when the SMW hacking scene was pretty underdeveloped compared to what it is today.
