OK, I made C: (20 Gb) wich has my windows operating system installed, then I made a T: partition (230 Gb) wich is for games... now the problem is when is install a game on T: partition is automaticly fils up C:! Wtf!? How is that possible!? Aren't they tottaly two different partitions? How can I unrar in C: while I obviously am doint that on T:!?!? Help please!
Recently, or today actually, I created a partition in the computer management in Windows Vista(SP1 64bit).
I was going to use that partition to install Ubuntu 9.04 64 bit on, but I realized that I couldn't install ubuntu on an existing partition, so I let it make a new partition. The problem is that I can't merge the unallocated space into another partition. The option to extend another partition is not available for me.
Btw, I forgot to mention that I also made a partition to install Windows 7 RC(Release Candidate) on. I deleted the partition that I wanted to install Ubuntu on so that it would become unallocated space so I could merge it into the Windows 7 partition(nothing on this yet). But I can't do that :/
I currently have 5 partitions: Recovery, vista & all files, windows 7, 2 partitions that ubuntu made and of course the unallocated space.
I've tried partition magic but it doesn't work with vista. Help!
Thicker glasses (usually meaning more magnification) would, if meant to replace the need for new monitors, require a monitor with a higher resolution than those he had on his desk to become NEARLY as effective as actually having more screens. With more monitors, and big monitors in general, it is easier to organize work, and the workplace can become more effective. I myself am using a 24" screen, and feel much more effective than i did while i had a tiny 15".
Lets say i have 1 current hard drive and lets say i have 10 0r 12 previous old partitions is it possible to transfer just the old hard drive space to the new current hard drive? lets say my new hard drive is 250gb, my 10 or 20 old ones are the same could it be possible to get all of the old hard drive sizes and convert it into one whole massive hard drive?.
no partitions are different(mini harddrive you can call them) inside of one harddrive. ppl are asking if you can merge those PARTITIONS inside that one drive together. say i have 3 partitions on ONE harddrive, and i want them all to be back to ONE partitions.
To the point... I put a larger hard drive and used a program that imaged the old to the new and now is not using all the new hard drive. Why... Why don't they alow using all the new hard drive as one?
u cant do it on xp.. use gparted or partition magic. Google for them. Partition magic isnt free so u might want to find a torrent for it or buy it... So if u dont have the money use gparted.
i know how to merge the partions dont use magic or pathon partion i use acronis disk director server on a bootable cd so i dont need to install any program... but im still wonding how to do this on adim tools only soo far no luck and this guy goes though all that truble to use the disk manigement just go to start run and type in diskmgmt.msc easy :| but hmmm too many tools to use and acrons is the one way i go
Nider do XP, I think it cant be done without another application...
But you can move all important data from partitions you want to merge to another partition (etc. your system partition) delete partitions that you want to merge and simply create a new partition on free space.
Jeez, Chris - you're so annoying. If only your ideas weren't so useful and logical I'd actually be able to criticize you. In the words of Miles Davis you are a "positive nuisance" - that's a good thing. I'm glad you're doing what you're doing, and I'll remain subscribed. ie. thanks - I appreciate what you're doing.

I understand the process of increasing or decreasing your partition size, but what about merging an empty partition to a half full partition?

How do you backup a drive with multiple partitions? What software do you recommend for backing up? Is the built in one in windows fine?
