Not so fast my friend.In 1993 the Penguins won 17 games in a row at the end of the season which is the NHL record to this date and everyone assumed they would win a third cup in a row.But they were upset by the Islanders in just the second round of the playoffs.The Penguins this season are competing with that winning streak which they could tie before Christmas and break on the 26th if they keep winning. This year's team reminds me of that '93 team a lot, just don't get too cocky.

I was outside watching with about 5,000 others lol and this game had to of been one of the best games in Pens history! Even tho I wasn't inside I felt just as much a part of the action. That goal by Staal changed the whole series. No doubt!
Being there that night, was the the best feeling, the roar of the crowd after that short-handed goal, was amazing, watching this clip, seeing all those fans out there celebrating, now that's special.

Great come from behind win! The shorty from Jordan Staal changed EVERYTHING. This game made it possible for the Pens to win the cup. Game 7 is classic. But, this game is the one that set it all up and made it happen.
I agree, it was easily the most entertaining game of the series, and my favorite play of that game was definitely Kennedy's goal on the tic-tac-toe play. It happened so fast, Emmerick couldn't even announce it.
The second period of this game is the greatest 20 minutes in Pittsburgh Penguin hockey history in my opinion. You get the feeling that they're in big trouble after being down 2-1 and giving up back-to-back power plays. Geno's tripped on a semi-breakaway and the frustration can be felt in the arena...Then...It happens. When Staal scores the shorty, you can sense it! The flightless birds would not be denied! This my friends way the series. The Pens had confidence. They're the better team!
The Red Wings don't have a big projector screen for their fans to watch in Detroit. Only a team like Pittsburgh with a dedicated fanbase has a big screen for their fans to watch. = )
I love Troy Crosby's reaction after the 3rd goal... NOTHING! Perhaps a lesson for Alex Ovechkin... act like you've been there before! It obviously wasn't the first time Papa Crosby had seen his kid score an important goal. You'd never know by watching Ovechin celebrate if it was his first goal ever or his 500th.
It's actually funny looking at Troy's reaction from year to year. When Crosby scored his first game winner in a Shootout, his father was going nuts. Only a matter of time that Papa Crosby expects much more out of his son. You could tell, only the Stanley Cup would suffice

Best Pens playoff game i'ver ever been too. I went to atleast one game in each series the last 3 years, and while i've only seen two losses (sens the first year, and OT vs Was this year) i always seem to go to the blowout game or the low scoring game. This game though was a totally different story, one of the best games i have ever been to, and by far the best playoff game i have gone too, unreal

Agreed, Staal's shorty (because of its impact in swinging the series) might possible be the greatest penalty kill in playoff HISTORY. Sure I'm a tad biased being a Pens fans, but being a hockey fan I'm also hard pressed to think of a more pivotal penalty kill EVER.....Soooo thankful I was in the barn for this game...
IMO Staal's shorty in this game was the turning point of the SCF. How many times do you see the Wings, on a PP, up 2-1, with a chance to put a real stranglehold on the series, and give up a SHORTY, followed by two more goals, and then lose the game. And eventually the series.
I think even though the Wings won game 5 easy, the Pens were in their heads by that point.
They lost game 5 cause of scuderi's comments about the wings looking so old and tired. But getting killed in game 5 made them play harder in games 6 and 7 if detroit won game 5 1-0 or 2-0 they might have won the cup. oh well
Wrong! = ). I talk to Fleury and he told me that everyone became sick after eating at a banquet that Detroit prepared for them. Detroit must have poisoned or cross-contaminated the food. Which is why Pittsburgh lost game 5. Just goes to show that you can't trust Detroit as far as you can push them. = )
Yes I do and I enjoy talking to him. He's got a heart of gold and he's one of the classiest guys in the league. Everyone was very sick after eating at the banquet. And he told me he would take my advice. The whole team decided to order pizza to eat before games 6 and 7. Fleury told me thank you for looking after the team. And because of my advice, I think that's one of the reasons why we won. However, I wish we could have ended the series earlier. lol. = D

The Pens 4th goal was the greatest of the series in my opinion. Kunitz basically hit Sid for a one-timer, and the greatest visionary in the game had the insight to one-time pass it on the tape of Kennedy. Amazing. As great a goal scorer as Ovechkin is, I promise you will never see him set up a goal like that in his entire career. That's what separates them.
Mike Emery (the commentator, I'm not sure if I spelled his name right), did really good this game. I really like Mike Lange more, because I'm a Penguins fan though.

It's actually funny looking at Troy's reaction from year to year. When Crosby scored his first game winner in a Shootout, his father was going nuts. Only a matter of time that Papa Crosby expects much more out of his son. You could tell, only the Stanley Cup would suffice

Best Pens playoff game i'ver ever been too. I went to atleast one game in each series the last 3 years, and while i've only seen two losses (sens the first year, and OT vs Was this year) i always seem to go to the blowout game or the low scoring game. This game though was a totally different story, one of the best games i have ever been to, and by far the best playoff game i have gone too, unreal

Agreed, Staal's shorty (because of its impact in swinging the series) might possible be the greatest penalty kill in playoff HISTORY. Sure I'm a tad biased being a Pens fans, but being a hockey fan I'm also hard pressed to think of a more pivotal penalty kill EVER.....Soooo thankful I was in the barn for this game...

IMO Staal's shorty in this game was the turning point of the SCF. How many times do you see the Wings, on a PP, up 2-1, with a chance to put a real stranglehold on the series, and give up a SHORTY, followed by two more goals, and then lose the game. And eventually the series.
I think even though the Wings won game 5 easy, the Pens were in their heads by that point.

They lost game 5 cause of scuderi's comments about the wings looking so old and tired. But getting killed in game 5 made them play harder in games 6 and 7 if detroit won game 5 1-0 or 2-0 they might have won the cup. oh well

Wrong! = ). I talk to Fleury and he told me that everyone became sick after eating at a banquet that Detroit prepared for them. Detroit must have poisoned or cross-contaminated the food. Which is why Pittsburgh lost game 5. Just goes to show that you can't trust Detroit as far as you can push them. = )

Yes I do and I enjoy talking to him. He's got a heart of gold and he's one of the classiest guys in the league. Everyone was very sick after eating at the banquet. And he told me he would take my advice. The whole team decided to order pizza to eat before games 6 and 7. Fleury told me thank you for looking after the team. And because of my advice, I think that's one of the reasons why we won. However, I wish we could have ended the series earlier. lol. = D

The Pens 4th goal was the greatest of the series in my opinion. Kunitz basically hit Sid for a one-timer, and the greatest visionary in the game had the insight to one-time pass it on the tape of Kennedy. Amazing. As great a goal scorer as Ovechkin is, I promise you will never see him set up a goal like that in his entire career. That's what separates them.
