This song is heartbreaking. My father worked there, but he missed the subway to get there by two minutes. I am eternally grateful. This song makes me so sad to think of what I almost lost. And what I did lose. Many, many friends and family members passed on that terrible day. When I see him perform this live, it brings me to tears (And I am not the only one- I went to one concert only a few months after this happened, and the entire arena got silent).

my dad was a firefighter in this horrible event. He didn't make it. He save 23 people but he couldn't save himself. He was an only father my mom died of breast cancer, now i have to take care of my little brother(2) and sister (8) every night they ask when dad will be coming home and every time i have to tell them that dads waiting on them to come to heaven. she asked me how you get to heaven and i said god takes you. that night she prayed for god to take her so she could be with dad. i miss him

I feel like Mr. Russert was SO SINCERE and CARING of a person for the common man and his love of his dad and son teach us all a lesson about making sure we spend time and treasure them.
