in the list of songs that can hold their own and remain a classic through the decades this song is definitely on that list and so easy to listen to, it always puts me in a good mood.
I can vividly recall this song in the bars I frequented in the Republic of Korea. It let us know that places like home were still there and awaited our return home.
When this came out, they lived in Florida in a subdivision ,and were the only ones that didn't mow the lawn. The Sunday Tampa magazine had a cover of them sitting in the grass with only their heads visible. Lawn was more than knee deep. How do I remember all this 35 years later ? I got divorced that same summer., for the first time, in Florida. My wife ran off with a guy I introduced her to at a party. I still love the song. Great to dance to,.. In polyester leisure suits. I had a sky blue one.
THIS WAS COMING OUT OF MY SPEAKERS IN 86-89 MY HIGH SCHOOL YEARS JUST SAW THEM AT THE IKE HAMILTON AND THEY WERE GREAT........ THANKS FOR PUTTING ON A GREAT SHOW GUYS......... STAN AILSHIE WEST MONROE LA
Great song, I remember Levi's using this song with one of their ads. That actually is where I first heard and learned to love this song. Thank you for posting it.
I was fortunate to have grown up listening to great music like this as the stuff made today is just crap compared to the sounds of the 70's. Real musicians with meaningful lyrics that touch your very soul every time you listen.
76 was year I graduated from high school and 2 man band at local bar used to play this song. I still like halter tops and remember wearing the disco era clothes a couple of years later.
Hay many thanks to all the people who post all the great comments about when they were young and say great things about these old but great songs. I enjoy reading the posts as much as the music. thanks for the smiles and the post.
This was the very first song that was played in my moms brand new 1976 Chevy Malibu Classic 2-door after we took delivery of it. MANY great memories for me from way back then. I was still a kid, BUT it seems like yesterday.
No one believes you when you say stuff like this but ill say it anyway. These guys are my third cousins!!! My grandmas cousins (Bessy Bellamy). Never got to meet them though :[
1976...I was only 10. When I first heard this song on a radio...it was so lovely. And dreamed of a western cowboys lifestyle. This song is still nice and beautiful to hear today. Very evergreen lol. When I migrated to Germany for marriage reason, I heard a German version with a title something like ''A bed in the cornfield''. Man, I wish we all don't grow older!!
1977 Bredhurst, Kent England my mate Mark Merryweather learned to play this on his electric guitar and I sung the lyrics. We performed it for two girls we made stand in his back garden so we could go up to his bedroom where his amp was. We thought we were THE shit, they just thought we were shit unfortunately. Man we had a great laugh doing it though. oh to be young again

Great song...The lyrics are all representative of what God created. God created the mountain streams, the birds and the moonless night. Most importantly, He created our souls which allow us to simply - LOVE. Praise Jesus and thank Bellamy!

Thanks God people did not have cell phones with cameras when I used to dance to this. Polyester slacks with the huge cuffs, platform zip up the side boots, and who knows what kind of shirt. And thought I was cool! Times and fashions have changed but this music will always be the best ever. It sounded so good on 8 track and the girls looked so good in halter tops. The MEMORIES will last for decades to come. Thank You For The Post!
Uplifting, Timeless, how often does a song go outside the box and become a success. This is the sleeper song of the 70's that comes to life thrity years later.
