The problem is in the shitty lighting. When you go through the tunnel on a pretty high speed everything starts to blend so you can hardly see the lines, walls and whatnot. Drivers simply lose their sense of direction.

This is the Lefortovski tunel. it was built right below old Lefortovski cemetery, that's why there are so many accidents. And this is not an urban legend.
