Agwire, Watched the latest Air Safari sa TV. Hanggang dyan ba naman, nandyan pa rin si Joy Roa. Nagbigay ba ng lumang computer uli? Mas mahal pa yung Jet-A1 ng S-211 and F-5, naalala mo pa ba?
my father and grandfather belonged to a time when we had i think the best aerial demonstration team in our part of the globe. i hope that within my lifetime i would see them return in action.
I`m in the UAE for 3 years now.A320 Commander , same position when I left PAL. And believe me I always cherish the moment when we flew together with the RedAces and Blue Diamonds. ou know whenever I fly to other third world countries like Yemen, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, my heart bleeds, My God!! they have better Airforce than the Philippines. I was in Sri Lanka when the Tamil Tigers rudimentary Airforce attacked Colombo and I always wonder what if the CPP develop the same capability.
I heard that the jocks from 5J who joined PR lately will end up with AirPhil. Is it true? Blessing in disguise pala yung nacut-off sa hiring last na galing India kung totoo.
Yes the most juniors in PAL will be transferred to Air Phil. Eventually , all A320s will be operared by Airphil-and its pilots will be contractual. The unlucky ones were already either forced to retire (above 60) or retrenched.
Galing mo Agwire. And you were right but can you still remember how hard we lobbied to be employed in counter-insurgency just to maintain our proficiency level but their answer was always NO,because the said that we have to send C-130 for support...etc but that`s how we evaluate operartional readiness pero talagang lakas ng resistance that time.. until they ran-out of planes that they decided to use it. But how many aircraft are operational by that time? From AIRBUS/S211/F-5 DRIVER

Flufferfish, in addition to my previous comment...the majority of the group joined the airlines after they had finished their contracts or retired honorably. If they had built-up numerous flying time, it's not their fault for they only did their duty. YOU ARE INDEED BARKING AT THE WRONG TREE. At least these pilots are honorable compared to many in govt and AFP who just talk loud pretending to be honest but given the chance to lead steal their unit's coffers. I BET YOU'RE 1 OF THEM.
Flufferfish, you are just plain stupid and ignorant-bec. you're not a fighter pilot. Team aerobatics are performed to hone the skills of fighter pilots bec those meneuvers are similar to air combat maneuvers. The group not utilized by the govt. in counter-insurgency was the PAF's top brass strategy during that time due to numerous operational aircraft at Sangley. The S211 are jet trainers and the F5s are fighter jet not tactically effective against insurgents. Hence, they r resrvd 4 air defence.
if these aircrafts were just used regularly..the government could have save more money and spent it on other necessities.. unfortunately nobody seem to care as long as they have the aerobatics team..
what have they accomplished with these shows? for CMO? i dont think so? were these teams able to reduce the number of insurgents or other rebels ? big NO!! ..that feat belongs to the philippine army, navy/marines and other air force units..!!!
i mean whats amazing about those aerial maneuvers..most people can do that if given the chance!..besides, these pilots practice too many times before the actual show..so what is great with that! they practice too much for weeks AND months...
KAYA NAUBOS ANG MGA ENGINE AT AIRFRAME TIME NG MGA F-5 AT S-211 dahil sa walang kakwenta kwentang pag pa pa pogi kagaya ng mga 'to. kaya hayan halos lahat yan nasa PAL or cebu pacific na..pinadami lang flying time nila ha ha! KAWAWANG PHILIPPINE AIR FORCE at kawawang bayan!!.
yo redace5, i have a question. Can the government start a defense agency, and what i mean is that an agency that deals with technology for use in the military and also invents new weapons, vehicles, and aircraft. Is it feasible or not? or will the tentacles of corruption and self-centralization destroy or also corrupt the minds of the officials in that agency even if there is one. An example for that is Japan Defence Agency's Technology Research and Development Institute
@Scan887AD dude, it requires too much funding, also if we do that i think many nations would fix their eyes on us. in competing in an arms race we need resources most esp. money. our national debt is even much for us to handle how much more we'd develop weapons for an arms race. i think we'll just end up like north korea if we do that.
Hello Bong. It's nice to hear from you. George and I sometimes fly together- but not in the S-211 anymore, but rather in a fly-by-wired aircraft called the A320. Regards to you, Sarsi and Albert. Keep in touch.
Yes. The Red Aces disbanded in 1998.Their last airshow was during the Philippine Centennial Celebration in the same year. The main reason for its disbandment was their aircraft's utilization to other air force missions.
The Blue Diamonds and/or the Red Aces would surely resurface after slumbering for quite some time now. Definetely new members will emerge since the old ones either got out of the air force or had retired already. Of course the biggest requirement for their comeback is the procurement of newer jets.
There are only 3 countries that ordered and are using the S-211. Only the Philippines uses it for team aerobatics, training and close-air-support missions all of the same time. The Philippine version was upgraded with a weapons platform- a 50 cal. machine gun,it can also be fitted with bombs and rockets for counter-insurgency.
The Red Aces using the S-211 for team aerobatics is an incredible feat-considering said aircraft has limited power. Other Aerobatic teams are using powerful jets that are easier to maneuver. Kudos to the Red aces.
ang tanong lumilipad pa ba as-211 na yan?

what a320? PAL or CEB PAC? why did you choose to retire from the PAF? Is it due to dwindling aircrafts? or financially? or the same?

Is the team still active, i heard that they already disbanded...

Yes. The Red Aces disbanded in 1998.Their last airshow was during the Philippine Centennial Celebration in the same year. The main reason for its disbandment was their aircraft's utilization to other air force missions.

But is it possible for the Red Aces to reunite as well as the Blue Diamonds if the F-16s and T-50s would arrive on 2010?
