The more common letters are easier to press. The only disadvantage is that you need to learn a new keyboard layout. It's like QWERTY vs. DVORAK.

How is that faster? It's around the same speed as someone who is used to a full QWERTY keypad would type. Plus, getting used to the format of the keys alone would take a long time.
